Ah well done Whistl! I just saw the old thread was on 999 and panicked that I'd never find you all again!

Congratulations on the new Job Terf, excellent news!

Thanks whistl

Cherryburn · 04/09/2018 18:04

Thanks whistl, didn’t realise we were so close to the end of the old thread. Ooh, Further Education, get us.

Oratory I can’t see that having to administer remarks has any bearing on a board’s ability to concentrate on getting the marking right in the first place. If anything I think that knowing the marking will come under scrutiny provides an incentive to get it right first time.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 04/09/2018 18:07

terf well done, that's brilliant. I remember you mentioning it a while ago, glad it has worked out.

I'm glad your DS has settled in so quickly whistl. Always a worry but it sounds very positive so far. And thanks for the new thread.

DS3 has had a great first day. He has 2 old primary school friends in his tutor group plus someone he knows from his old secondary school. He has lessons with a few other old primary school friends as well. He walked up with one old friend and caught a public bus home. No sign of messaging anyone etc but hopefully he'll be able to make some new friends.

He's just had further maths and chemistry lessons so far. Only 10 doing FM! Less than I expected but better than the 3 in his old school. Computer science and regular maths lessons tomorrow. Pretty much each subject once a day.

He's joined the orchestra and the jazz group. All in all a happy young man. Smile

Cherryburn · 04/09/2018 18:13

Ah that’s great Ellen. So good to hear that it’s going so well for the DC that have gone back.

DS back tomorrow but has stayed at school so it won’t be such a big change. I’m still excited for him though!

Terf2Terf · 04/09/2018 18:16

Thanks for the thread!
And well done the DC who have settled in so quickly and grown up! Looking forward to that on Friday

chuntersalot · 04/09/2018 18:26

DTs started 6th Form today. I’m away with work until Thursday- I might get a few texts but can’t wait to get home to find out everything!

Kilash · 04/09/2018 18:27

Checking in ready for new term. Such fantastic positive posts yesterday and today, jobs, great first days, new found confidence. D's started today but after an assembly and done admin he was home again by 11 lucky thing. He's pleased to be back and raring to go! Several teachers also made a point of congratulating him in his GCSE's, he was best in school by quite a wide marginso he is chuffed to pieces- which is nice as for a couple if weeks he didn't want to tell anyone his results.

TheThirdOfHerName · 04/09/2018 18:35

Thank you Whistl
DS2's first day went really well. He has signed up to help provide learning support for younger pupils in Maths & Science.

Twinplusone · 04/09/2018 18:48

Just posted on the fitness link kick

Feeling very grown up on Further ed page Shock

DD has got to go in and meet her new form tutor and then full on 6th form from Thursday. Bit of a melt down this afternoon as Snapchat tells her friends have all been out today and not invited her. She had also arranged to meet a friend today but friend didn’t reply to DDs message. She is back to feeling down again Sad on the plus side she says she has tidied up her bedroom today... just bracing myself to go in ...

Theworldisfullofgs · 04/09/2018 18:57

Can I join in (again).
Dd is going to a different large sixth form and I'm feeling a bit anxious about the journey etc but doing the calm outward thing. It might also be because work is stressful at the mo.
Dd' s old school where ds still goes rang for feedback about why she isn't going back. I felt terribly guilty but glad they asked.

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 19:00

Best wishes to all tomorrow and the rest of the week especially those who may be a bit anxious or nervous.

LooseAtTheSeams · 04/09/2018 19:01

Just checking in to say hello again and I'm making a note to check out the fitness thread! Thanks Whistl for the new threadSmile

sandybayley · 04/09/2018 19:09

I'm here as well!

sandybayley · 04/09/2018 19:13

We haven't heard from @Sostenueto in a while. I've tagged her so hopefully she'll find us?

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 04/09/2018 19:16

I hopefully your DD can make some better friends at sixth form, twinplusone. It sounds like she could do with losing some of her old friends.

I have now suggested to DS3 he volunteers for that TheThird. Great idea.

Theworld Welcome back!

AlexanderHamilton · 04/09/2018 19:17

Lovely to hear the positive difference in Whistl’s Ds.

Just got home after dropping Dd off. She didn’t want any help putting her stuff away. Just wanted us gone ASAP. She’s excited about tomorrow.

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 19:28

Hope it goes well Alexander

JugglingMummyof2 · 04/09/2018 19:45

TheThirdOfHerName · 04/09/2018 19:53

Alexander hopefully she'll feel settled quickly.

80% of DS2's year group are taking Maths A-level.

ShalomJackie · 04/09/2018 20:00

Hello. I am here too. Thanks Whistl you got the last slot on the other thread so good idea to get it started!

DS had Alice Heim Testing at school today and google isn't helping much other than its cognitive testing? Any ideas anyone?

TheThirdOfHerName · 04/09/2018 20:01

Could it be ALIS?
