Some of us already have btech results, some have unconditionals, but it's a nervous time for most. Lots of Wine Gin Flowers

DD has just informed me that she chose where she did so she wouldn't be too far from home.

It transpires that one boy from her year group at school is in the same halls, as is a local girl she used to be in a drama group with (who is going out with one of her school mates), plus her nemesis appears now to be going to the same uni having failed to secure a place in dentistry.

At this rate she won't need to make new friends Hmm

HardwickWhite · 20/08/2018 13:58

14 marks is a fair chunk. You pay per paper too, not just per subject so it is very expensive!

DD asked for a remark on one of hers. She has been given extra marks so we get a refund, but she is now 1 mark so 1/3ish % off an A*. She has taken it in good spirits.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 20/08/2018 14:39

Chocolate fab results!
Third what a week for you! Glad to hear your DB is stable after that scare.
Lobster what a lovely surprise from your friends!

DD has just released her Uni place today, now that everything else is confirmed in writing. The next chapter has arrived!

flatmouse · 20/08/2018 15:37

Said goodbye to DDog today. DS v upset. Dragging him into town tomorrow (to avoid being sad in the house) so will maybe get more university supplies then. He still hasn't read his welcome pack or logged on to the portal/looked at freshers week activities!

HesMyLobster · 20/08/2018 15:41

Oh flatmouse I'm so so sorry SadThanks

UrsulaPandress · 20/08/2018 16:10

Oh flatmouse. Sad Sad Sad

Hoveringhobbit · 20/08/2018 16:26

Flatmouse that's so sad Flowers

Knittinganewme · 20/08/2018 16:34

I am sorry Flatmouse, it is two years next week since I had to part with Mr Fluffy and I could still give you a day by day account of that week. I still have a box in the garage with the sticks he brought in from his walk, we used to keep them to start the first fire of the autumn with but I couldn't bring myself to do it. This year will be the year that I use them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 16:36

Sad flatmouse Flowers I am sorry.

I remember you saying you used to use his sticks for firewood knitting.

Took dd out shopping this afternoon. Managed to get a suitable smart outfit for her for her first posh meal at uni. Thank goodness for that. I did feel wistful looking at Mums with their little girls.

Well dds wound is infected. Antibiotics given
Rang university to say about her periods and they said she’d have to cancel and reapply but no confirmation she’d get the house she’s in so she’ll suck it up just means she has more money

Bakeandyarn · 20/08/2018 17:27

I’ve had a little sentimental moment too kitten my work colleague had a baby at the weekend and I though how lucky she is with what she has to come, and she’ll have him at home too!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 17:31

hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 17:33

awwww Bake. I guess our memories will be erasing out the endless nights, the days where I felt as though I'd put in a whole day before it was even breakfast! but I wouldn't mind having another go

UrsulaPandress · 20/08/2018 18:22

That's the trouble with having just the one. All that knowledge gained and nowhere to use it.

PandaG · 20/08/2018 18:23

I'm feeling a little wistful too - Monday night is University Challenge, one of the few things we watch together. DS enjoys beating his parents at the number of questions we can answer. Was just thinking there won't be many more Mondays of friendly rivalry.
However, I don't think I want to do it all again, I had a friend's 2 preschoolers this afternoon for 4 hours to give her a break. I booked both my DC to be home to help me, as the toddlers have a tendency to leg it in opposite directions. An hour and s half at the park and I am very glad I had my teens with me. Knackered doesn't touch how we all feel!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 18:40

That's hilarious Panda Grin Maybe I should start borrowing small beings.

I reckon I'd be an expert Mum this time round Wink

OP posts:
HesMyLobster · 20/08/2018 18:53

Haha! I have also borrowed small beings today! My niece (3) and nephew (6) for the afternoon.
Took my mind right off being sad about DD but blimey, I am shattered!

And not feeling quite so wistful anymore!
Was great fun, but lovely to hand them back to dsil pumped full of sugar! Grin

UrsulaPandress · 20/08/2018 18:57

I've got two coming on Wednesday. I cook. I cater. We are going out as I no longer know what to feed small people and can't be bothered to toddler proof my house.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 19:10

gosh, you are bringing back to mind my favourite game with dd - doctors where I could lie with my eyes closed on the floor and be fixed. Second favourite was hairdressers where I could sit mindlessly in front of some crap on the tv while dd beat me senseless about the head with a hairbrush.

I might be changing my mind Grin

OP posts:
UrsulaPandress · 20/08/2018 19:12

DD used to give me a foot massage.

If I ask her now I get Hmm

PandaG · 20/08/2018 19:14

I didn't toddler proof either, though I did move a few things...just tag teamed keeping completely on top of each child with my DC. Their mum suggested jacket potatoes, beans and cheese, so that is what they had. Thankfully very simple and they woofed it down! We spent as long as we could at the park, then playdoughed, drew on boxes (more interesting than paper), shredded tissue paper, did lots of action songs, played in the garden, read stories, stacked bricks, and only resorted to Cbeebies for the last 10 minutes.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2018 19:31

And that was all in just four hours!!! That's so funny!

I remember the first birthday party I threw for dd when she was at preschool. They got through everything I'd planned in about 10 minutes flat and dh and I looked at each other with horror that we still had the rest of the party to go through. They operate at a different speed from the rest of us.

flatmouse I'm sorry to hear about your dog, it's horrible saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Flowers

It's funny saying you all wanting to borrow small children. You can have dd2! She's 8 so is getting slightly more independent, but still in the phase of needing to be taken out and entertained. And she still needs to come with me everywhere (I have now managed to persuade her she can stay in the waiting room when I go to the doctors), and I am still required to listen to reading and read bedtime stories, etc. It's much easier once they can be left to get on with more stuff by themselves.

PandaG · 20/08/2018 19:54

Yes flatmouse so sorry to hear about your dog. Xx
