ursula
Sorry to hear about the horse

Dd has history today, apparently her case studies are not going in Hmm
She’s hoping for a question on women

Goodluck to everyone

I hope you've caught the horse Ursula.

I cooked a sausage sandwich and took DS in rather than making him wait for the bus. I decided taking an hour out of my morning was worth it if he arrived at college in a better mood. Today is the subject he wishes he hadn't chosen. English.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/06/2018 09:55

So we and they have made it half way through the first big week. Two more mornings to go this week.

Is that English Language knitting? dd was tempted by that one but changed her mind when she discovered that it was different to her expectations.
Hope the exams today History, English and Maths go well.
dd chose Creative writing instead of English language and after a half term holiday where she said that "you can't really revise Creative writing" is now upstairs trying some past paper questions. Her A2 exam is tomorrow morning and is 3 hours long.
dd hasn't had many exams but they have been long ones: Art (Graphics 15 hours and Health and social care assessment 10 hours) plus lots of coursework so guess that makes up the difference timewise.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/06/2018 10:45

Do all the exam boards have the same subjects on the same day? I notice that there is a geography exam next week, but DD has one this Friday (AQA), and then she is done for geography.

starfleet · 06/06/2018 10:46

Good Luck with those DC's who have exams today.

None here - revision for DS today.

Hope your horse catching is successful Ursula.

Nettleskeins · 06/06/2018 11:01

Ii was out this morning with dropping dd and to my surprise ds1 has actually managed to get himself off to a music lesson and up this morning without me prodding him. We've had bad news about MIL but I don't want to tell him now; I'm actually incredibly selfishly relieved that dh is with MIL and not here because it would be impossible for ds to focus and he hasn't even taken the first exam yet Sad
Dd was upset enough as it is her sinuses were playing up this morning because she had cried so much at last night's update, which was minor compared to today's.
I'm counting my blessings this morning, beautiful day, had coffee with lovely friend on way home, talked about "stuff". And there are leaves to sweep up and gardens to tidy and rosy cheeked children to feed and joke with [at least I hope they'll have some jokes, dd usually does if its the dreaded Spanish, her imitation of a spanish person talking too fast for her to understand is quite hilarious self-parody)

UrsulaPandress · 06/06/2018 11:01

Yeah. Horse caught easily as all the mares had already been brought in. But he has lost both back shoes. Very foot sore and lame so in for a week now until Farrier comes. Can't even graze him or put him on the walker. Stupid animal.

DD is feeling sick at prospect of German History. She feels failed by the teacher as she has never liked his teaching methods, despite him being Head of History. Such a shame. Trying to get her to think positively.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 06/06/2018 11:22

Good luck for the exams today (maybe too late for some).
DD has further maths paper. She was anxious but tends to be silent and grumpy when she is.

Ursula sorry about the horse stress.

Nettles that is tough news about MIL and hard for the dcs during exams.

catslife · 06/06/2018 11:29

I think that A level exams for a given subject are generally on the same day as far as possible. Sometimes it varies if a subject has more than one specification with the same exam board. I think that for some subjects there are also resits available for the old (legacy) A2 papers which could be the case for Geography.

Hardwickwhite · 06/06/2018 11:35

I'm working at home today, and DD1 seems to be having a wardrobe clear out... Hmm I might wait till lunch time till I suggest some Biology revision.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/06/2018 11:49

DD has only just got up Angry

UrsulaPandress · 06/06/2018 11:50

Sorry Nettles I'd missed your update on your MIL. It's so hard trying to keep stuff from them isn't it?

FantasyAndHope · 06/06/2018 12:04

Dd has rang to say her eye is red, she has a temperature feeling sick and not well
The abscess is flaring up could be due to stress or pre menstral but not what dd needs right now
School still not budging on the idea of letting her have special consideration even though she has got consultants letter which states medication has failed etc

marmiteloversunite · 06/06/2018 12:15

Ursula I am feeling a bit sick at the thought of History and Germany too. Sending all DCs doing History good luck vibes.

Icouldbeknitting · 06/06/2018 12:49

Catslife yes, it's language and the issue is that it has not been what he thought it was going to be. Some would say that if he'd looked at the specification before jumping in then he would have known what he was signing up to but never mind. It went well this morning so that's a relief.

Nettles I am sorry, there's never a good time for bad news but some times are worse than others. Have you let the exams officer know what is happening?

LoniceraJaponica · 06/06/2018 12:49

Oh no Fantasy
That sounds like an utterly shit school. And people pay to send their kids there?! You really don't need this stress right now, and neither does she.
Once the exams are over name and shame it.

I hope she feels better soon Flowers

LoniceraJaponica · 06/06/2018 12:52

We are in the same boat as you re MIL Nettles. It's a horrible situation to be in Flowers

HesMyLobster · 06/06/2018 13:26

I'm so sorry to hear about the bad news Of your mil Nettles, and yours too Lonicera.
A horrible situation adding more anxiety to an already difficult time Thanks

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/06/2018 13:33

Nettles and Lonicera :( I'm really sorry.

Fantasy that's so pants. Your poor dd.

Today's paper was 'fine' Hoorah! dd was really upbeat afterwards. I feel very sorry for her being back to the grindstone again this afternoon.

OP posts:
FantasyAndHope · 06/06/2018 13:36

Did is just stressing because she needs a B in history
History is next and she can’t revise in the libary currently as younger years are pratting about
Entirely missed your post nettles sorry to hear about that, have you contacted the exams officer just in case he finds out through other family members?

Hardwickwhite · 06/06/2018 15:16

Fantasty that is awful for your DD. I know we've all discussed it ad nauseam but I think it is awful that schools feel able to take such different view points on these things. A consultant's letter is sufficient for Disability support through Student Finance and disability services at the unis DD is looking at, I cannot for the life of me see why your DDs school don't think it is enough.

Nettleskeins · 06/06/2018 15:25

because we have lived in another country for so long we/ they havent spent that much time together, but he is a kind boy, but she has not been part of his life that much except in an indirect way because dh sees so much of her by himself (when he visits, which is often) It is really the effect on dh percolating through to the children that worries me, that is why I say I am being selfish about it Blush There aren't any family membes except dh, very small family.

It is actually very peaceful and lovely here at the moment strange to say, dd is revising Maths (one of her better subjects) in the garden. Not like the crazed beast she becomes when trying to learn Geography!

Fantasy could you take a picture of her eye as evidence in case it is needed later?

Nettleskeins · 06/06/2018 15:30

hoorah kitten* that is lovely news about today's paper.

knitting that is also brilliant it went well this morning with the Language (was it language or some other subject other than English getting confused now....)
