Why don't UK people cook meals like this? Yum!

I am natively from Brazil living in London now, and I make hubby eggs in morning etc. We add what Uk people call "chip sticks" to our meals, makes it more exciting and delicious! He loves it but says he has never seen it before.

Any other Brazillians on here who can share similar?

Oh well, as long as it is the ones that go into the M&S bags at the factory, say no more. 😂

I love potato in all its forms, I would leave out the scrambled eggs though.

BiggyJ · 12/10/2025 11:28

I think breakfast is about the only meal British people wouldn't eat crisps with 😆

Shit < hides the bag of monster munch I was just about to have along with my bowl of crunchy nut >

QuantumLeek · 12/10/2025 11:31

I opened this thread expecting something delicious but complex, like a beautiful thali, and then found op has put a packet of crisps on top of fuck knows what- rice and ketchup maybe? It’s really given me a giggle so thanks, op.

HelpMeGetThrough · 12/10/2025 11:31

That’s just gross OP!!

You should have used Pork Scratchings.

wintertime4me · 12/10/2025 11:32

It looks like a plate of sick.
But if you enjoy it thats all that is needed.
I dont eat breakfast at all.

These are from a packet you can buy them quite cheap from aldi or lidls, but if i'm making a more luxurous high end meal as a weekend treat I'll use ones like this from marks and spencers

You're funny OP.

I bloody love these. There's always loads in the packet too. Cold lager and a bowl of these in front of the football on a weekend is my idea of heaven

Hardly a high end luxurious meal though .

bigdecisionstomake · 12/10/2025 11:34

No judgement from me OP - I bloody love crisps - but even I know it's a stretch to class reconstituted potato, deep fried and covered in salt healthy. Tasty maybe, but not healthy...

NewYorkSummer · 12/10/2025 11:35

I don’t like eggs, but crushed up crisps on a cheesy pasta bake is delicious 🤤

I feel your pain. Two completely different things. I also like “game chips” which are often served as a side dish with game (obviously).

Yes! LOVE game chips - and they ARE a different thing!

(Have you really changed your name 100 times?! 😉)

WithIcePlease · 12/10/2025 11:35

Stuff like this is what keeps me on MN😂
Thanks OP

Well why don’t Brazilians cook British meals?

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 12/10/2025 11:41

Didn't Nadiya put a packet of cheesy snack crap on something that otherwise looked healthy ?

Mamma27373 · 12/10/2025 11:41

I love these crisps as a guilty pleasure. But they are everything that’s wrong with food - highly processed, very high fat, even worse than regular crisps because of the high surface area.

Full English breakfasts are pretty unhealthy already but at least eggs and tomatoes are cooked from fresh and there is some variety.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 12/10/2025 11:42

This is not just crap food,
it's M&S crap food.

They're a third fat. They're not healthy. Okay as part of a balanced diet, but high in fat and salt. All the supermarket versions are likely to be made by the same supplier.

Breadcat24 · 12/10/2025 11:42

Is this you again?

😂😂 love it OP!

“We eat Aldi chipsticks with all our normal meals, but when I’m catering for a fancy dinner party I empty a load of M&S chipsticks on top of the filet mignon” !!!

I don't think these are reconstituted potato - they're finely julienned potato, denser in texture and much smaller than the chipsticks you may be thinking of.

That's all well and good until you go to your SiL's for dinner who, because she'd run out of crisps and cornflakes (the suggested alternative), put crushed up Bran Flakes on top.
I'd have welcomed Chip Stix (or whatever they're called) then.

Moochingallday · 12/10/2025 11:49

I do love a crisp and I do love a bit of crunch with a meal but there is only

@Needtosoundoffandbreathe You may be right, I prefer a standard salt and vinegar to a chipstick - but they will still be oily and salty so really not at all healthy.

Moochingallday · 12/10/2025 11:49

So many meals i would add crisps to!

Bjorkdidit · 12/10/2025 11:50

TeaRoseTallulah · 12/10/2025 10:35

Possibly because we have a better grasp of nutrition? 😂 I can't think of anything worse than dumping crisps on your morning eggs 🤢

Well that's debatable for most Brits. Plus I've heard a lot about South America being ahead of the curve in relation to reducing UPF consumption.

Thanks OP, that's something I might try because I love those type of chips and I'm already a regular consumer of the Ferran Adria crisp omelette.
