Why don't UK people cook meals like this? Yum!

I am natively from Brazil living in London now, and I make hubby eggs in morning etc. We add what Uk people call "chip sticks" to our meals, makes it more exciting and delicious! He loves it but says he has never seen it before.

Any other Brazillians on here who can share similar?

Bought these from Lidl and just ate them as crisps

No one eats this for breakfast in Brazil Grin we do tend to put batata palha on (hot) lunches and dinners, and hot dogs as someone mentioned, but this is the first time I’ve seen it on breakfast. We don’t eat cooked breakfast much.

Our potato sticks are also thinner than the crisps in the UK. Lidl sells them when they have Iberia week - they’re not the best but closer to our ones.

But this thread reminded me to pop a little bit on top of the cottage pie I’m making for dinner 🤣 thanks, OP.

I like those with a G&T. 😋

Bit early with brekkie though.

I am curious. Do they keep their crispiness when you sprinkle them on hot food?

Suddenly, the phrase "Brazil nuts" makes sense.

@PandoraSocks it does! It adds a lovely bit of crunch to food.

I understand OP.

I'm from Portugal and while we don't use Batata Palha on a lot of dishes, we do have a few traditional recipes that specifically call for them (salted codfish being one of them).

My grandmother's generation fried them at home, and these days they're mostly store bought.

It's just a cultural difference

My ex is Brazilian and he loved those. He used to say that in Brazil he put those on hotdogs, he was surprised it wasn't a thing in England.

I think the proper Brazilian ones look nicer than the bags of potato sticks we get here though. They look much thinner.

Yes my DH is Colombian and they put them on hot dogs there too! Not on eggs however….
