I find most 'puddings' vile.

Trifle is the worst offender of them all.

I also dislike anything that wobbles. Jelly, blamange et al.

Yuck.

robinpud · 06/04/2008 17:14

Look. you're either the sort of person that asks to see the puddings menus before you order in a restaurantso that you can save room... or you don't give a toss. Some of us have a seriously SWEET tooth but could forgo most savouries.
Tiramisu is one of my favourites.. for a number of reasons, but mainly as it reminds me of moy worst hostess moement ever when dh's oldest friend who had never tried tiramisu (only likes meat and veg.. no garlic cauces or other sort of malarkey) Anyway he took a small mouthful.. then another and then spat it all out and said " GOD.. THAT's DISGUSTING!" The rest of the evening was interesting.

pointydog · 06/04/2008 17:14

tell you the worst - zabaglione (not sure of sp). Was persuaded by waiter in Italina restaurant to have it once.

Even if you quite like sugary raw eggs, there will always be a better pudding on the menu.

DJCod · 06/04/2008 17:15

I do quite like those ice-cream frozen fruits you get in Indian restaurants

pointydog · 06/04/2008 17:20

DJCod · 06/04/2008 17:21

I hate banoffe pie. Just the thought of it makes me feel queasy. I hate teh stupid namea sa well.

But I do love tiramasu. And, yes, mine is lovely.

soph28 · 06/04/2008 17:27

I LOVE puddings and have a sweet tooth but STILL HATE

trifle
tiramasu
blackcherry gateaux
any pudding with alcohol
anything with sultanas/dried fruit
most fruit puddings esp. fruit fool etc.

Like anything chocolate
banoffee
meringue as long as it's chewy and soft
nice ice cream (and chocolate sauce)
sticky toffee pudding

all the rest are somewhere in between!

littlerach · 06/04/2008 17:29

Tiramisu - only if it is a good one

Trifle - see above.

Banoffe Pie - often crappy, but had it once, made by a chef friend, and irt was divine.

Wou;ld rather have any of the above, or a lemon tart kinda thing, than chocolate cake dressed in one of it's many disguises.

edam · 06/04/2008 17:30

You are quite right, Cod. In fact every pudding mentioned on this thread is horrible. Apart from bread and butter pudding - done well, it's lovely.

Why do some people think flabby wet sponge is a treat? In what universe? Can't stand any pudding soaked in alcohol and that includes Christmas pudding. I don't care how pretty it is when you set fire to it, it's disgusting.

And why do the same weirdos think mixing a dozen different textures and flavours together in one dish will be nice? Trifle is gross IMO. My Dad used to make me heave after birthday parties by finishing off the leftovers for breakfast with Special K tipped all over the top (NOT a great diet tip).

pointydog · 06/04/2008 17:32

crepes suzettes? Soaked in alcohol and var pleasant

DJCod · 06/04/2008 17:33

oh eys i liek them
liek mums 70s retro oranges in brandy too

OP posts:
robinpud · 06/04/2008 17:38

oranges in amaretto
plums baked in orange juice

Spagblog · 06/04/2008 17:41

God I love all the puddings mentioned here with only one exception...Creme Caramel
Bleugh!!

It may explain why I look like a pudding too.

ggglmpp · 06/04/2008 17:45

Can I just butt in and say I was served salmon tartare the other day - with fucking dessicated coconut on top of it. Barf barf.

No banoffee, trifle or jelly here - never eat tiramisu.

cocolepew · 06/04/2008 17:45

Don't like any of the except trifle. But not with sponge, or custard.
OK so I like jelly and cream. And crunchy silver balls. And cheese and pineapple on a stick.

MadameCh0let · 06/04/2008 18:01

The only pudding I don't like is fruit.

Like a pear in red wine. ??? How is that nice? Fruit is fruit, and I eat that, but a pudding is a pudding and the two do not overlap.

Obviously the more chocolatey and the more gooey the pudding the better. Obviously.

littlerach · 06/04/2008 18:03

Oooh, my friend made us mulled pears for xmas, and we opened them last week, and they were amzing, with creme fracsie.

largeginandtonic · 06/04/2008 18:05

Chocolate mousse the only dessert to serve at a dinner party, anything else is disappointing imo. Posh one obviously, mine is particularly fab

Like all those desserts though, but have a special hate of Summer pudding. It is all the weird bitter seeds, yuk.

largeginandtonic · 06/04/2008 18:06

Cod re Delia and hoooooomoooose i could have jumped in the tv and attacked her.

Slubberdegullion · 06/04/2008 18:08

I'm wracking my brains but I can't think of a pudding that I don't like.

Not sure if that is because I was brought up proper or I'm an undiscerning pudding gobbler.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/04/2008 18:09

tell you what is nice is the cafe reale thing they do,or used to do at P Express - a cup of coffee with baby figs in wine/syrup and mascapone
