because they have cream in and in 2 out of 3 alcohol in them too and they're rather yummy and you don't get them that often

bunch of fraeks

TheFallenMadonna · 06/04/2008 14:53

May I just say though that it's nice to see "vermicelli" and "hundreds and thousands" referred to on this thread, and not sprinkles...

soapbox · 06/04/2008 14:53

I can just about do trifle if there is no sponge in it. Rasperries squished down a bit to make their own juice, a splash of liquer and then custard and cream on top. The sponge is the problem, it is like eating gritty fluff.

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:23

i hate tiramasu and trifle. love banoffee pie though.

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:23

i hate marzipan, olives and anchovies

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:24

i am the same as soapy. will eat a home-made trifle with no sponge in.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/04/2008 15:25

Fruit salad is bloody hard work to do and bloody boring to eat.

Sorry Cod.

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:26

mmm i love fruit salad with yoghurt.

Cappuccino · 06/04/2008 15:26

banoffee pie is pretty awful

I have jsut remembered what it is

Cappuccino · 06/04/2008 15:27

fruit salad with yogurt is lovely for breakfast say in hotel or posh caff

but for after dinner no

unless hosts/ guests are diabetic there is No Excuse

CatIsSleepy · 06/04/2008 15:28

have never eaten banoffee pie
or baoffe pie for that matter...

i do like trifle though
cold custard is one of the finer things in life

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/04/2008 15:29

I went on a day's cookery course at Anton Mosimann's academy and we made the most fantabulous pudding - his signature dish apparently - bread and butter pudding.

Nothing like bread and butter pudding I've ever had before - no slices of Mother's Pride - just a thin layer of lace-thin baguette, with vanilla custard poured over and then baked slowly in the oven.

Absolutely gorgeous.

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:29

don't like cheesecake either unless it is chocolate. i like lemon meringue but it has to be warm and soggy (yes i'm weird) but i hate roulade because it is soggy. and summer pudding barf.

CatIsSleepy · 06/04/2008 15:29

aargh
fruit salad
there's always too much melon, grapefruit and apple
v. dull

MrsMattie · 06/04/2008 15:30

Oh God, summer pudding... Soggy white bread & fruit compote. Puke.

nappyaddict · 06/04/2008 15:31

what's the difference between bread pudding and bread and butter pudding?

bellavita · 06/04/2008 15:34

Fruit salad is lovely if done properly.

tassisssss · 06/04/2008 15:35

i love them all

esp if someone else has made them

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/04/2008 15:35

I think for former is when you crumb the bread and mix it with wet ingredients and bake it, so that it's like some kind of sponge. Bread and butter pudding is (normally) slices of bread and butter, layered in a dish, with cream poured over and baked in the oven.

I think.

bellavita · 06/04/2008 15:37

Bread and butter pud is nice done with brioche.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/04/2008 15:38

I like a boring old tiramisu/trifle etc at anyone's house but I'd prefer to make something a bit more exciting and different

Freckle · 06/04/2008 15:41

Why do some people assume that, just because they don't like something, normal people wouldn't? Maybe it's the ones who don't like whatever who are not normal. Just a thought.

claireybee · 06/04/2008 15:45

I love tiramisu. Banoffee is a bit sickly, and trifle depends on the trifle-some are nice, some are revolting.

MissPaulaYates · 06/04/2008 15:46

my bowl of blueberries and raspbs with nigellas barbados cream takes some beating

mimitherabbit · 06/04/2008 15:47

My sister makes her tiramisu with instant coffee and Elmlea - vile! Would rather starve than eat trifle - it is the most disgusting invention on the planet!
