The most surprising food your dc's like...

dc has his fair share of food fussiness but also surprises me with some things I didn't expect a 2 year old to like e.g.:

  • smoked salmon (a boy of expensive tastes!)
  • ground pepper added to food
  • mustard
  • raw yellow, red peppers
  • boring dark green lettuce not just crunchy stuff

.....so, what are the most surprising things your dc's like to eat?

Now that I know the definition of the word munter, it just appeals all the more. You can't stop me using it, you know.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 18:56

farkin calamari. sheesh

Twiglett · 28/09/2007 18:58

pointy is there a reason you seem to have got the hump today? Or am I misreading your posts tonight? you just seem a little, well .. a little irate tbh

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2007 18:58

oh how you envy us, pointy... i can smell it.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 18:59

no I'm not irate. This is me in a chipper confident mood, actually. Bloody annoying, eh?

Twiglett · 28/09/2007 18:59

newbug · 28/09/2007 19:00

pointydog · 28/09/2007 19:01

my dc don't like seafood. They are the normal ones, believe me.

Fish heads. Have you ever seen Tin Drum?

NAB3 · 28/09/2007 19:30

Olives.
Physalis.
Smoked salmon and prawns.
DS1 eats everything.

DS1 has just started ORT books and is reading Funny Fish in which Biff catches a crab. One of the questions at the back of the book asks "What would you do if you caught a crab?" I think they're supposed to say "run away" or "throw it back" but DS1 said "cook it" and DD1 who was lurking, said "eat it".

Love my carnivores!

pointydog · 28/09/2007 19:39

physalis still my fave

Had to google physalis!
Am I leading an incredibly sheltered life in that I don't eat that unusually. No squid ink for me, nor cockles, nor fish with heads.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/09/2007 19:55

No CAT here LL.

We don't eat just any animals you know. My dogs is 7yo and I've never been tempted to put him in a pan. (Mind you, he is Great Dane and wouldn't fit).

pointydog · 28/09/2007 19:58

we are in teh majority, pooka. All is skewed on mn

Sunshinemummy · 28/09/2007 20:10

DS 18m likes:

smoked salmon
hummus
taramasalata
olives
kedgeree
curry
chilli
foie gras
crispy duck

In fact pretty much anything, especially fruit.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 20:26

yaaaasssss, I was wondering about pescivore too, aitch

DaisyABandyBoobToo · 28/09/2007 20:38

theclosetpagan....I didn't think any child ate sprouts. I thought they were the sort of taste that you only acquire with age.....all the taste of a cabbage, concentrated into one bite. I'm 38 and I can just about manage one....give me another 30 years and I might be able to have a whole portion with my Christmas lunch

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/09/2007 20:45

LL - I'll try and get Nic (that's the Duke) to mail you. He knows what he wants. Ahem!

(And for the 'pedants', it's piscivore).

pointydog · 28/09/2007 20:48

yes yes, I made a typo
