The most surprising food your dc's like...

dc has his fair share of food fussiness but also surprises me with some things I didn't expect a 2 year old to like e.g.:

  • smoked salmon (a boy of expensive tastes!)
  • ground pepper added to food
  • mustard
  • raw yellow, red peppers
  • boring dark green lettuce not just crunchy stuff

.....so, what are the most surprising things your dc's like to eat?

pointydog, what are you upset about?

bozza · 28/09/2007 21:45

OK let's get away from all the poncy type food. My dd likes the following and begs to be allowed to eat them:

marigold powder straight from the tub
raw pastry
margerine straight from the tub

and was a bit put out when I wouldn't let her eat a raw pork chop.

ComeOVeneer · 28/09/2007 21:46

dh's family is from SA we make our own biltong. Moule was (on my part) a spelling eror, the wink an error on my part too.

AuntJetPetunia · 28/09/2007 21:46

Conkers
Coal
Sawdust
Tic Tacs

pointydog · 28/09/2007 21:47

ok. You've rolled your eyes twice and said 'get a grip'. I'm off.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/09/2007 21:47

Let's not get competitive. I'll only start trying to cook both little lapins and pointy dogs. Maybe at the same time.

And if it tasted OK I could start farming \link{http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/512TWD177PL.AA280.jpgPointy Lapins}. Mmmmm.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 21:57

actua;lly lapin, you completely misunderstand me. I am not at all pissed off. I am in a happy mood. I was not in the least bit angry, in fact very few things on mn make me angry. If they did, I wouldn't come on mn. I enjoy seeing things in a humorous light, I know some people think that's twattish but I don't care.

I am now feeling a little pissed off because I can't stand people doing the rolling eyes things to me or saying things like 'get a grip'. Personal bugbear. Don;t mind being sworn at or pretty much anything else.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 21:58

and that did sound a bit pompous and I regret that

sweetkitty · 28/09/2007 21:59

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2007 22:01

biltong is pretty common, though, pointy... so it did come across like you were beign a bit aggressive for no reason. however, i adore you so don't get cross.

queenofpuddings · 28/09/2007 22:05

brie and camembert

Desiderata · 28/09/2007 22:06

I thought a biltong was something a butch woman wore on the beach.

You live and learn

I met a pompous twat in France a couple of years ago. Reckoned he went there every year (with wifey). They adored the climate, the lifestyle ... and the moulins and chips.

Twat.

mamazon · 28/09/2007 22:06

Ds had a roll mop today and loved it.
i felt ill just watching him eat it but he wanted more.

pointydog · 28/09/2007 22:06

don't go smoochy aitch. I'm on the riesling.

(I'm going to do a biltong test now you say it's common)

DD eats the bread that's gone a bit mouldy and is used for the ducks. She can't resist slipping a bit in her mouth as she's feeding them in a sort of one for you, one for me style.

shrooms · 29/09/2007 11:04

I try not to be surprised at anything that the dcs like or don't like because I think the more they see you react the more they play on it. That's how fussy eating starts in my opinion. However I was quietly smug when my little ones went crazy for the row of exotic looking herbs and spices at the market while a lady opposite struggled to get hers to pick out some apples. Shame they've now got expensive tastes, which I will wholeheartedly admit is my doing...
