Ponce Alert! The things people order in coffee shops.....

Heard a man today ordering 'a shot and a half espresso', followed by a woman who ordered a 'double skinny latte with one shot decaf and one shot regular and chocolate on top'.

Are their tastebuds really so finely calibrated?

My 1 year old loves her babyccinos. Does that make me an utter ponce?

MrsSpoon · 03/07/2007 09:43

I drink soya cappuccinos and I'm a size 12!

[ponce alert] Also got one of these in the kitchen (but the version with only one porta-filter, not the double). Plus DH buys in green coffee beans and roasts them and freshly grinds them for each coffee.

MrsSpoon · 03/07/2007 09:44

Agree with whoever said that Starbucks full fat cappuccino tastes like butter, bleurrrgh!

only in england a simple thing like coffee can become poncey , not to mention cappuccino costing 2.10 and coming in cups so big as to cause an immediate bout of diarrhea

foxinsocks · 03/07/2007 09:47

I went through a stage of feeling like I was being interrogated by the people behind the counter.

'Do you want it Grande or Tall, Regular or Skim milk, Chocolate on the top, Takeaway or have in?'

felt like saying all I want is it in a farking cup ffs

DrNickRiviera · 03/07/2007 10:20

See, but tall sounds big. It makes no sense for tall to mean small. Where's that come from eh? eh?

SoupDragon · 03/07/2007 11:32

Because it's not small, DrNick. It's simply the smallest Tall is actually a normal mug. A normal-but-slightly-large mug in fact.

Califrau, you are foreign.

SoupDragon · 03/07/2007 11:33

Ordering breakfast in America is like being interrogated, especially if you've ordered eggs. I always used to think I'd managed to give all the required information but the waiter/ress always managed to find an extra question!

MrsKrabadger · 03/07/2007 12:28

wasn't it a Newman and Baddiel routine where he's fed up of the multifarious egg options and asks for them 'furdled'?
