Ponce Alert! The things people order in coffee shops.....

Heard a man today ordering 'a shot and a half espresso', followed by a woman who ordered a 'double skinny latte with one shot decaf and one shot regular and chocolate on top'.

Are their tastebuds really so finely calibrated?

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2007 12:53

[superior]

ugh, caffeine

SweetyDarling · 02/07/2007 12:55

A flat white is a cap without the froth.

StarryStarryNight · 02/07/2007 12:57

so really it is just black coffee with milk?

Hathor · 02/07/2007 13:04

AKA white coffee

flibbertyjibbet · 02/07/2007 14:11

I can't believe you are discussing what is a flat white
Its just coffee with milk, no froth, no stuff sprinkled on the top, just a nice plain milky coffee!

CarGirl · 02/07/2007 14:14

At home I drink one shot shot skinny latte, so that's what I order when available (sometime decaff too) and yes I really can tell the difference if they put semi milk in and I find it too bitter if it's too shots and if I drink too much caffeine during the day I am awake half the night. I don't thin I'm a ponce but if I'm going to pay £2 for a coffee that I may as well enjoy it?????

binkleandflip · 02/07/2007 14:16

I will not use the term "Vende" or "Grande" etc!!! It's a small of large coffee FGS!

chevre · 02/07/2007 14:18

i used to work in a touristy coffee shop and the amount of women who would come in and order hot chocolate with the works and then get their own sugar free sweeteners out to add with a prissy look on their face.

indiasmum · 02/07/2007 14:42

LOL!

BBBee · 02/07/2007 14:51

(how many people had to go and make a coffee whilst reading this thread - I did)

Whizzz · 02/07/2007 14:55

I noticed in Pizza Express on the kids menu they can be a Bambinicino (something like that anyway!) - no coffee, just frothed milk with choc sprinkles on top (start them young) !

CodHun · 02/07/2007 14:59

my kids hated it

Quattrocento · 02/07/2007 15:05

mine loved it. caught them trying to make one at home. difficult without a frother but they had a messy time trying.

paulaplumpbottom · 02/07/2007 15:08

I always order a large decaf skinny late. Don't see anything poncy about that, its just the way I like it

SoupDragon · 02/07/2007 19:57

"Bambinicino" Oh dear god no. In Starbucks I ask for "2 kids' hot chocolates please. One with whipped cream, one without" and that's exactly what I get.

SoupDragon · 02/07/2007 19:58
Hulababy · 02/07/2007 20:00

I have skinny decaf, sorry.

Skinny - don't like the taste of other milk; also another way for me to cut out excess fat
Decaf - can't drink caffine as it makes my heart race and causes palpatations.

frapachino · 02/07/2007 20:00

I have a large decaf skinny cappachino.

Hulababy · 02/07/2007 20:00

Oh yeah, DD loves Starbuck's children-sized hot chocolate.

SoupDragon · 02/07/2007 20:02

Noooo, you can't have a large one, it has to be Grande or something equally poncey.
