Who wants to enter here please. This will be fab. Now we have to find some judges. I think we should put thread in chat and ask someone to judge based on their credentials Obviously they will be only looking at a pic not tasting. We need rules as well??? Good idea or not.

I'm in - pics will be up when I can get rid of DP...probably while he lies in tomorrow...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/06/2007 19:16

hmmm...i obviously used too little jam in the middle.
i've got more in the oven though!
i'm suddenly addicted to baking cakes.

tigi · 16/06/2007 19:50

Due to technical problems (ie no camera available..), am i allowed, with the words of Blue Peter style, to put one in that I made earlier..?

It was for a lady at work who was 50 the other week. Made 100% with my own fair hands. I love making (and sadly, eating) cake..

The details are as follows-

recipe I think was a 6,6,3 (or at most a 8,8,4)
Implements - electric whisk
Cake tins - buttered and floured
stuffing - buttercream and jam

Slubberdegullion · 16/06/2007 19:58

go on tigi, stick it in, show us yer cake.

Purplemonkey, much like MN, cake baking has become for me also horribly addictive. Just one more tomorrow for my Dad's birthday/fathers day and that's it...cold VSC turkey for me. (well until the show of course).

UCM · 16/06/2007 20:05

Well, Mark II is definitely an improvement. No extra baking powder this time

here

Ooh! UCM that's look lovely! Bet you're happy with that!

UCM · 16/06/2007 20:19

I am Jane. The other one was a complete disaster, but it was my fault for trying to get too bigger rise. Which I note you DO have on yours Dh has just said that this one is much lighter than the other one and much much better.

OP posts:
janemw · 16/06/2007 20:26

Yeah, I don't really know what happened there, fluke I think!! I never get a rise on my cakes! I'm scared of trying again now though incase I get Victoria biscuits back again!!! Glad Your DH approves!

tigi · 16/06/2007 20:27

okay - done it.it's on

janemw · 16/06/2007 20:31

WOW!! That's a cake and a half!!! My daughter would love that one!! She's 5 and loves anything pink!

filthymindedvixen · 16/06/2007 20:41

I'm so pissed off. I can't enter this as my digi camera has gone missing. (and that's a whole other thread topic, believe me...)

I mean, a cake contest. In RL I am Queen of Cakes. I live, breathe and eat cake! (well, dur!)

It's practically my religion! (And it doesn't involve nailing anyone to a cross...)

Pah. May the best Domestic Goddess win.

Bibis · 16/06/2007 20:48

Tigi, your cake looks amazing, it will be a fix if you don't win

Slubberdegullion · 16/06/2007 20:55

Holy Moley tigi...that cake is amazing.

Doesn't quite meet WI VSC comp rules though (as dusting with icing sugar is out I think they might have a few issues with the pink swirly/cherries/candles effect)

Slubberdegullion · 16/06/2007 20:57

FMV.

Do you have a mate with a camera who could pop round and take a pic?

euphoniumhumper · 16/06/2007 20:59

Just checked out the new phots... they are fab! Slubbers, that one of you sifting... ROFLMAO!

Strangely enough, I considered having a framed piccie of Queenie with my cake, but my printer wasn't playing along...

I do have a fan of my cakes though

filthymindedvixen · 16/06/2007 21:00

mates? real life ones? nah...

actually, I didn't think of that

Slubberdegullion · 16/06/2007 21:03

I did lol a few posts back when yoyo asked if I had that picture up in my house all the time.

Yeah right, Queen Victoria has pride of place on my sideboard, next to the ones of Lady Baden Powell and David Cameron.

kickassangel · 16/06/2007 21:33

watch it if you dare.

Grooveisintheheart · 16/06/2007 21:33
