if lazy, sling spuds in oven in jackets for an hour and scoop out middle

cuts down on mashing labour

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 18/05/2007 17:01

There is no such thing. (Shudders) I can still remember what it tastes like 20 years down the road, and I will not subject my 2 to that.

AitchTwoOh · 18/05/2007 17:03

quickest is to bake it in microwave then sling it through a potato ricer to de-skin. voila! mash in minutes. [delia]

ktmoomoo · 18/05/2007 17:04

shimmy21 · 18/05/2007 17:09

the best is called 'potato'. You buy it in the veg section in the supermarket. It is sold in brownish round or oval lumpy shapes.

All you do is remove outer covering (called peel) and place in boiling water and leave it. When it's soft you mash.

How much more instant would you want to get?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/05/2007 17:11

oh yeah hana! with a bit of ketchup and some cut up hotdogs through it!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/05/2007 17:12

kraft dinner

hana - are you CANADIAN too???!!

ktmoomoo · 18/05/2007 17:12

but if i home at say 4.45 kids wont wait that long so it instant it quicker lol

Cloudhopper · 18/05/2007 17:14

If resorting to it, then I would rather have the Hipp baby one than Smash which is just the devil's food.

And most supermarkets seem to do a ready mashed one which you can freeze and defrost if you can't be bothered to mash your own.

I am not an aficionado of instant mash, before I get jumped on.

Wotzsaname · 18/05/2007 17:14

no way, potates and boil and mash and serve.

I don't get 'quick' pasta either as pasta is fairly quick to start off with!

Go on use the spuds.

DaddyCool · 18/05/2007 17:16

instant mash is spew

i've gone off kraft dinner. used to eat loads of it. haven't had it in years. bits of weiner through it was my fav as well.... disgusting when you think back. i mean, what could be worse?

DaddyCool · 18/05/2007 17:17
