My daughter brought home someone elses packed lunch box today and in it were the remains of:

Crisps
Mini chocolate roll
Dairylee dunkables
Cheese string
Galaxy

and empty food bag - not sure of the contents but would hope a decent sandwich

I was so and . No wonder my DD wants rubbish in hers all the time!!!!

And if I was in charge of school lunches I would ban anything other than sandwiches, salad, crisps, and 1 choccy biscuit. Or pasta etc in that order. My DS wouldn't eat it, but hey, he would get used to starving very quickly.

Heathcliffscathy · 30/04/2007 21:49

NappiesGalore · 30/04/2007 21:50

christ, how anyone seriously get their knickers in a twist over total strangers disaproving of a hypothetical thing you do or may do... get a grip!

Boco · 30/04/2007 21:50

You're probably right scatter but does is matter to you? Does it make you want to change anything you do or are you confident in your choices. I find it hard to get too wound up by these threads, as i feel happy about my choices, which include occasional crisps and sweets and cake. I'm fine with that, so I can't take that HORROR too personally, it doesnt' matter to me what other people choose or how they feel about my choices. God i'm waffling. I'm even boring myself.

Skribble · 30/04/2007 21:50

CHOCOLATE IS GOOD FOR YOU!

Honest anyway raisins stick to your teeth and make them rot!

yesireallycan · 30/04/2007 21:50

emwad - to be honest, your original post wasn't all that judgemental, well, it was a bit, but it was more the tone of the thread overall that got me - just dislike this "I'm a better mother than you are because my kids eat all their veggies and never eat sweets" stuff. Just seems a bit holier than thou.

scatterbrain · 30/04/2007 21:50

NG - to whom do you address that last comment ?

NappiesGalore · 30/04/2007 21:51

Here here UCM sorry for the ffs Scatter but i find the you judge others to be a lesser parent slightly harsh on the op

Rachmumoftwo · 30/04/2007 21:51

NKF they look fab but my kids would shake their lunch boxes about so much they would ruin them. Did you notice the deep fried twinkies they snuck in though? mmmmmmmmm

Well if we're all bored of this, can we talk about something completely different?

How about ME?

NappiesGalore · 30/04/2007 21:53

scatter

scatterbrain · 30/04/2007 21:54

Cod - Hello - I knew you'd be here in a minute !!

So what do you think m'lord ? Is the empty sandwich bag sufficient evidence of healthy sarnie to let the defendent off ?

CorkyPirbright · 30/04/2007 21:54

What did you have in your lunchbox as a child? What do you like eating now?

Not directed at anyone in particular. Just that when I think of the very , very few foods that I would eat as a child, compared to my tastes as an adult, and current relationship with food, they are totally different. Is that down to education, family or what?

emwad · 30/04/2007 21:54

thanks Lilyloo, I never meant 'lesser parents'
My DD has eaten all the mentioned at some point in her lunch box. I just don't think it is good to have them all at once when she has to concentrate all afternoon. She can have 'rubbish' when she gets in and be hyper til tea time!

I can see why you were so shocked at all those bits of junk in one lunch box. My ds1's school doesn't allow junk and so far I haven't had the courage to put even a funsize choc bar in his packed lunch.
I also grew up taking a jam sandwich, packet of crisps, bar of choc and sugar-laden Ski yoghurt for my lunch every day and I've hardly got any teeth left

Porcupine · 30/04/2007 21:55
