I've actually stopped caring about food

Twiglett · 26/04/2007 16:25

I really have

I'm not sure I ever cared particularly that much

but then that's from a background of me enjoying cooking so have quite a good and varied diet of fresh food and lots of fruit and vegbut honestly couldn't tell you last time I read a label

it just seems so nonsensical to worry about it

and I'm quite happy for them to have biscuits or crisps or sweets too or a pizza from Iceland (woodburned) or ice-creams like Fab (which I'm sure were invented by the antithesis of MN foodies)

anybody care to join me in this dim and dingy corner of Mumsnet where most other posters believe we're going straight to hell?

OFFS you have kids, you're lucky. It doesn't matter what/where/who they eat with. You have kids, enough. No-one is going to die from Maccyd's, or a totally organic whatever diet as long s their diet is reasonably balanced. Look at SN kids' diets, they might eat a bit of everything or crap, it's fine and why the hell it matters is no-one's business.

YOU have kids, you are blessed.

Enough

AND for what it's worth, I agree. Kids can eat what you give them until they're teens. And then they eat shit, because they're teens. Give kids a break, don't you sometimes feel like scoffing a bar of hocolate 'cos your lfe is shit, or a cury or whatever, Macd's..tc. Kids are precious. Unless they have a medical problem/ condition, let them breathe, eat, live.....

Gobbledigook · 26/04/2007 19:06

No, never talk about food to friends

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 19:06

cos its banned monday to friady

Aloha · 26/04/2007 19:06

I never talk about food in RL - no, that's not true. Sometimes I say, 'I gave X chips and sausage for tea tonight is that OK? The sausages were Helen Brownings organics' (cringe cringe).
Pathetic!

WideWebWitch · 26/04/2007 19:07

What a horrible thread.

Feed your children whatever you like, all of you, but don't tell those who don't that 'it's nonsensical to worry about it.'

Aloha · 26/04/2007 19:07

I despise myself.

I talk endlessly to MI about work. It must be fabulously dull for her. Sorry. I talk to PPH about houses, and Cod about clothes.
I still like frankfurters.

Gobbledigook · 26/04/2007 19:09

Not details, i don't want to hear details!

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 19:09

motherinferior · 26/04/2007 19:10

I talk to Aloha about work, and Bundle about work and food, and MrsShadenfreude about writing fiction and food.

jomist · 26/04/2007 19:10

Maltloaf and shhhhh BUTTER anyone?

SmileysPeoples · 26/04/2007 19:10

No never talk abiout it much.

I think that's probaly what pisses Twigglet off though. the majority consenus is squashed. On this and many other issues by a minority who hold a petrceived superior attitude.

I think Twigglet often tries to bring MN back down to the RL plane most of us experience.

and HUZZAH for that.

motherinferior · 26/04/2007 19:13

I do, as it happens, really like food. I am also mildly obsessed about not just organic, but fairly traded food and other goods. I google, pointlessly and continually, for such delights as organic icing sugar. I look up on Ethiscore and agonise about potential sunscreens, and hassle the Hug company for its organic fair-traded jeans. I am a hilariously appallingly right-on pain in the arse about it all.

I also realise that I am both hilarious and appalling.
