I've actually stopped caring about food

Twiglett · 26/04/2007 16:25

I really have

I'm not sure I ever cared particularly that much

but then that's from a background of me enjoying cooking so have quite a good and varied diet of fresh food and lots of fruit and vegbut honestly couldn't tell you last time I read a label

it just seems so nonsensical to worry about it

and I'm quite happy for them to have biscuits or crisps or sweets too or a pizza from Iceland (woodburned) or ice-creams like Fab (which I'm sure were invented by the antithesis of MN foodies)

anybody care to join me in this dim and dingy corner of Mumsnet where most other posters believe we're going straight to hell?

i put on a posh voice when i email pph

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 19:13

and a scottish brogue for nailey

IME MN is not very typical. I know few people who worry as much as I do about what their kids eat. And I don't worry that much. MN opened my eyes to how supposedly terrible certain foods were - above and beyond the obvious ie too much fat, sugar and salt and too little protein, fibre etc - and I wish it hadn't to be frank. I look at what my family eats and by and large I can't see that much wrong with it...truly. But now there's the worry that it fails the MN gold standard .

Why is it so offensive to point that out? With the exception of a few throwaway comments I don't see what was so nasty about it.

Twiglett is my favourite poster. I love her no nonsense, no bollocks approach. I agree with her, that we are often the minority voice, not necessarily the minority.

I talk about food ALL THE TIME. But not stupid I do/ do not give ds this -that-or-the other, type conversations.

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 19:18

MI you google for organic icing sugar?!!!

You are so funny. How much icing sugar do you get through in a year? Is it worth it? And do you know if you put organic caster sugar in the magimix and turn it on HIGH for a while it magically metamorphoses into organic icing sugar?

lololol

Franny your capacity to be personally insulted by the most mundane threads really fascinates me. Where do you get the energy?

Cappuccino · 26/04/2007 19:18

good god

what the hell happened here?

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 19:18

I ensure my bra is snugly fitting and moisturise my feet before I email coddy

OrmIrian · 26/04/2007 19:19

Someone mentioned food, cappucino!

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 19:19

lick
slurp

haven't seen you for a while Capp, how are you?

motherinferior · 26/04/2007 19:20

PPH, I Google for all kinds of things . It's a change from trying to stalk my boyfriend from 1978 and attempting to work out if he's now the headmaster of a Catholic infants' school

I bet that sugar tip works in the blender too. It is, I have to admit, fair-traded organic icing sugar delivered with our weekly organic delivery.

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 19:22

you had a boyfriend in 1978?

I was 9 in 1978

so IS he headmaster of a etc etc etc\

I think we should know

Oblomov · 26/04/2007 19:24

Ds and I both had chicken fried rice, beef in tomatoes and prawn crackers for dinner tonight, from the chines teake-away.
It was a treat. Dh started new job in Dorset ( we are in Surrey) and ds and I are missing him terribly. He will be back on fri.

In these situations, chinese is REQUIRED.

motherinferior · 26/04/2007 19:24

According to the one person who had any info on him and didn't think I was stalking him (very strangely, some people think I am, whereas I am merely Nosy, why on earth would they have such a suspicion) he was last heard of teaching infants. A chap of his name has been found. By me. Even my nosiness balked at ringing up and making vague enquiries.

Also it was the school holidays when I found this out.

Oblomov · 26/04/2007 19:24

I was 5 in 78.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 26/04/2007 19:25

They make Bob l'eponge lollies? Where? Where can I get some?

SmileysPeoples · 26/04/2007 19:25

MI as you are hilariously appalling you are forgiven.

Aloha · 26/04/2007 19:26

I didn't have a boyfriend in 1978 and I am slightly older than MI.

Today I googled one of ds's schoolfriend's mother, who is a semi-famous actress.

SherlockLGJ · 26/04/2007 19:45

I am aware that the thread has probably moved on, but it took ages to type and you can jolly have it.

LGJ wanders in...............

Takes due note of the fact that the silent majority are yet again being shouted down by the not so silent majority.

Breast Feeding... V... Formula Feeding

Weaning... V.... BLW (Lets face it after a week or two no self respecting child will allow itself to be fed..........Ta Da BLW not really rocket science is it ??)

Organic hand picked by virgins before dawn... V.... A more relaxed approach to food.

HERE IS A NEWS FLASH NO PARENT EVER EVER SETS OUT TO DAMAGE THEIR CHILDREN.

There is room on this board for all opinions, once they are kept in check.

TheWoman · 26/04/2007 19:48

Fab post, Sherlock.

DumbledoresGirl · 26/04/2007 19:55

I did sort of mention sex to someone in the playground today, and then I caught her reaction and cut myself short quickly and in my head made myself repeat several times "This is not Mumsnet. I must not mention sex to casual acquaintances"

SmileysPeoples · 26/04/2007 19:57

OOOh what did you say DG?

I wish my casual acquaintances would talk to me more about sex.

Talking about sex is always a good laugh and bonding experience.

never yet mentioned it ib the playground though.

SherlockLGJ · 26/04/2007 19:58

Thank you TheWoman.

DumbledoresGirl · 26/04/2007 20:04

Just discussing with friend/acquaintance the advantages of not having dh home. I said I could go to bed and actually go to sleep.....it was implied rather than said out loud, but the minute I said it I realised it was not what I should have said to this particular person!

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 20:06

pervert

AitchTwoOh · 26/04/2007 20:06

thank you for clearing that up for everyone sherlock.
