Anyone used a nutribullet?

Cutting out a loooong backstory, I've been advised a product like a nutribullet would be beneficial to a health condition my daughter and I share. These are apparently the best on the market but at about £100 are eyewateringly expensive for me to budget for. i dont know anyone personally who has used one, so I'm hoping some of you might be able to recommend(or not as the case may be)

Look forwards to any replies

Hi all, i am still going strong with the green smoothies as part of low carb bootcamp. I use a similar linwood product with goji berries, chai seeds, sunflower seeds and other stuff. I got it cheap from Lidl - there is no way i would eat raw kale, avocado, 1 tbsp coconut oil and cucumber for breakfast otherwise. Makes me feel virtuous.

ihatethecold · 22/01/2015 19:16

Do you have to melt the coconut oil first.
I put some in a blender with a banana and yoghurt and it went into little balls of oil. Not very pleasant.

Mrsstevejones · 22/01/2015 19:25

Nope dont melt it, its not to bad but i try not too look to hard. I like the coconut taste it works well with all green smoothies. I dont have bananas in mine it overides all other flavours and isnt very low carb.

Marks and spencer do little tins of coconut cream if you want a coconut fat that doesn't stay in little bits like the oil does. A little tin lasts me three or four days.
I love the mild taste of coconut cream and sometimes I add pure cocoa powder. It's really delicious with banana for a desert!

I stir in milled chia seeds afterwards as they stick to the blades and turn to frogspawnny sludge. They are lovely to have in one.

Grapes are lovely frozen also. They're quite sugary though, so a max of ten is plenty.

Chia = frogspawn.
You're not selling it to me! Grin

I have a blend active which isn't as powerful as a nutribullet but seems to do the job. If it breaks I think I'll perk myself to a bullet though.

I use unsweetened almond milk in all my shakes or they taste rank. I mostly have one with a frozen bananna and various frozen berries but I want to try more veggie based ones.

Mrsstevejones · 22/01/2015 22:22

Imbrian, I worked up to all veg smoothies as they are an acquired taste. This coincided with my low sugar/ low carb mission, so my taste buds changed.

I started with 80% veg and slowly brought down the fruit. Frozen spinach is nice as its less strong tasting - i blend kale now and i like them, wouldnt have thought i would say that after the first time i tried one!

ImBrian · 23/01/2015 09:34

Do you have to cook the kale and spinach first?

I had mango and banana for breakfast and it was lovely. Going to try avocado and spinach at lunch time I think.

Have people lost much weight doing this? I've only lost a lb having 2 shakes and a healthy low carb meal each day which is fairly crap.

Mrsstevejones · 23/01/2015 10:24

No i dont cook the veg first, frozen spinach is great as its cheap and easy.

I low carb so i wouldnt have mango or banana. Come over to Bootcamp on here its fab and i have lost a few pounds already this week.

ihatethecold · 23/01/2015 10:53

Well I had a quarter of an avocado, almond milk, tsp of flax and nut mix, raw spinach and the end of a banana.

It was really nice, took the dogs out for an hour then came home and ate 2 boiled eggs.
Good start to the day.

Mrsstevejones · 23/01/2015 11:18

Yum sounds nice. I have a whole avocado and coconut oil for the fat to keep me full but flax seeds and nuts are good for that as well.

I did a raw food vegan spell to rid me of the xmas excesses with two smoothies a day. Now back on low carb bootcamp so HFLC. I love smoothies, def a good and easy way of getting lots of lovely nutrients.

ImBrian · 23/01/2015 22:15

My sister thinks I've not lost weight because I have 1/2 bananas a day. I didn't think fruit would be that bad for you!

I'll take a look at boot camp thanks

SweetCheeks99 · 03/02/2016 17:28

thinking of buying a nutribullet - do people still use theirs? or does it go to the back of the cupboard after a while?

thanks!

Snog · 28/03/2016 22:46

Is anyone still using their Nutribullet?
