Anyone used a nutribullet?

chestnut100 · 31/12/2014 16:34

Cutting out a loooong backstory, I've been advised a product like a nutribullet would be beneficial to a health condition my daughter and I share. These are apparently the best on the market but at about £100 are eyewateringly expensive for me to budget for. i dont know anyone personally who has used one, so I'm hoping some of you might be able to recommend(or not as the case may be)

Look forwards to any replies

Hi Chestnut, yes I use the large cup and drink over 2 days, it takes a bit of practise to get the quantities right, but it is delicious. Enjoy!!

chestnut100 · 04/01/2015 22:26

Well who would have guessed there would be some many bullet users hanging around mumsnet!

Camsie I've been having the contents of a large one in sort of one go! I've had it instead of breakfast and it's been largely veg so I'm thinking even if I have the lot it's going to be far more nutritious and probably less calorific than a bowl of cereal of toast

Oh, and drinking them through a straw helps to mke sure your teeth aren't getting damaged with the fruit sugar!

This morning i had kale, ginger, frozen red grapes ( makes it nice and cold) lime juice and half an avocado -topped up with water. Yummy. In the big cup.

Great for a quick breakkie on the go with 2 under 3! Really starting to love them now and i do feel noticeably better. Love it.

Boots I felt the same but because it's small enough to be out on the kitchen counter all the time, I find it gets used constantly rather than the other things I have bought which get relegated to the back of the cupboard.

Hi i found if you start fruity and add more and more veg. Ginger is good for balancing out flavours. Your taste buds do honestly adapt. If all else fails hold your nose and think of the goodness!!!

I can agree on the ginger! I've found some beer root marinated in sweet chilli that I'm going to try as part of s more veggie based one tomorrow

I'm trying to do largely veg based ones but just a touch of fruit to make them more palatable. Once you get your head around the fact that they aren't going to taste like a smoothie you buy from the supermarket because they aren't packed with sweeteners and milk, your taste buds adjust and it's fine.

My favourite is frozen banana, honey, almond milk and oats. I'm low carbing though so not allowed any more Sad

I agree you get used to the veg after time. The first few I made were rank!

This morning I had spinach, frozen cucumber, yoghurt and almond milk which was nice.

chestnut100 · 06/01/2015 22:39

Just read my previous message back; hope you understood I meant beetroot, rather than slinging a bit of chilli spiked lager in my nutribullet! Shock

I misread it as something to do with rootbeer Grin

chestnut100 · 06/01/2015 22:47

I have an exam at 9am tomorrow. I don't think I'm supposed to calculate intravenous drug doses with a healthy dose of beer for breakfast Wink

Wish mine would hurry up and arrive, can't wait to get started.

Mrsstevejones · 07/01/2015 08:52

Just had fr spinach, grapes, blueberries, apple with a teaspoon of coconut oil and half an avocado.Yummy and very filling.

DD had grapes, banana, apple and fr spinach - sweetness disguised spinach

DH had kale, grapes, apple and ginger

Breakfast done in five mins and washing up took less than that - bargain!

I would be keen to hear if anyone has any good recipes - i can see i might get bored otherwise.

I have been slowly increasing the number of smoothies a day from boxing day and cutting back on carbs and now have 2 a day in place of meals and have lost 8 pounds! Yay still loads to go however!

sourdrawers · 07/01/2015 09:07

I've got a Salter Smoothie maker. Someone gave me it, it's pretty flimsy but works very well, smoothies, soups, pasta sauce you name it... A third of the price of the Nutri-Bullet too.

chestnut100 · 07/01/2015 11:10

This morning mine consisted of: kiwi, sprout flowers, half an avocado, 2 small chilli beetroots, lemon and ginger. It was bloody delicious!

It's arrived! Just had our first smoothie, spinach, kale, apple and banana. Needs tweaking but impressed the hubby and the 4 year old!
