Anyone used a nutribullet?

chestnut100 · 31/12/2014 16:34

Cutting out a loooong backstory, I've been advised a product like a nutribullet would be beneficial to a health condition my daughter and I share. These are apparently the best on the market but at about £100 are eyewateringly expensive for me to budget for. i dont know anyone personally who has used one, so I'm hoping some of you might be able to recommend(or not as the case may be)

Look forwards to any replies

Lakeland good for anyone who is apprehensive about cost and whether they will use it as they offer a no quibble money back guarantee. You can return it at any time for any reason for a full refund so there is no risk!

Henbur1702 · 09/01/2015 16:53

Seems they also offer price match - good old lakeland

Never buying ice cream AGAIN - just whizzed frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple chunks and Frozen apple slices, mixed in a spoon of full fat yoghurt and a big splash of water and tastes like ice cream but healthy. Yum

HearMyRoar · 10/01/2015 09:02

It was doing exactly that mrssteve that broke my last 2 blenders. This thread has now convinced me to go buy a nutribullet :o

chestnut100 · 10/01/2015 11:22

Mrssyevejones, that sounds amazing! Thanks!

Just ordered myself one of these, just wondering if anyone buys the bags of frozen spinach and us it ok to put ice cubes in?

Kelly1814 · 14/01/2015 16:17

We sell yes frozen spinach is a staple of mine! Try and pick the bags where the spinach is in small balls, rather than a giant lump.

I throw in a couple of balls and it's just the right amount. Any more and I find the taste overwhelming.

Most of the stuff if not all i put in is frozen, so I can't see ice cubes being a problem.

weaselsquirrel · 14/01/2015 17:21

Thanks kelly, does everything taste of spinach or is pretty disguised?

Nolongerlurking · 14/01/2015 20:28

Thanks for this thread. I was given an unused nutribullet today (unwanted present) and wasn't too sure what to do with it so searched MN for ideas.

Some great recipes to try here.

Will definitely try the ice cream with frozen fruit and will buy some frozen spinach to try too.

Takesalongtime · 14/01/2015 22:03

Went to Costco to buy my frozen strawberries and there weren't any!! Not impressed all sold out! Kids def wanted to try ice cream!

Mrsstevejones · 14/01/2015 22:32

Hi i am looking for low carb green smoothies recipes. I usually do spinach or kale with half an avocado and a bit of fruit like apple, strawberries or kiwi. I am getting a bit bored, does anyone have any fab recipes? Looking for something with a bit of fat in it to make it filling.

Love smoothies and have lost weight and feel better so want to keep this up, just need inspiration.

weaselsquirrel · 15/01/2015 08:34

I got my frozen strawberries from lidl, just checked and no added sugar they also have raspberrys and forest fruits. I'm going to be using this as a kick start into becoming vegan. What recipe is good for breakfast? I've also ordered some spirulina (sp) powder and chia seeds.

Mrsstevejones · 15/01/2015 09:04

For breakfast i have a green smoothie, fr spinach or kale when i have it fresh from the market. I add half an avocado for the fat and filling power then a small handful of fr strawberries, raspberries (lidl) and either cucumber or apple or kiwi. Whilst they dont taste like an iced latte i have def become accustomed to the taste. I try to add 80% veggies and 20% fruit. The colder the better, so def add something frozen, warm smoothies are pants.

I want to experiment with nuts and seeds and am looking for good recipes.

Green smoothie convert - has to be good for you and i am never going to eat raw kale and avocado for breakfast any other way!

Snap i am interested in becoming a vegan too, i have seriously reduced dairy and have been meat free this month so far. I have been making some lovely thai food ( fish sauce not vegan though) using butternut squash as my meat as i dont eat mushrooms. I have been doing tonnes of reading as i want a balanced diet. Any good recipes to share?

weaselsquirrel · 15/01/2015 09:15

Thanks mrssteve, I will try your green smoothie. I've been a strict vegetarian since I was 9 so 20 years. I always thought going vegan would be a natural progression but my love for cheese took over. I'm going to add lots of seeds and nuts to my smoothies/juices plus make some with soya or almond/hazelnut milk. I have never actually tried avocado Shock. It just looks like one of those foods that you dislike before trying (I sound 5). I'm going to get one later, how much do you add and can you freeze it?

Mrsstevejones · 15/01/2015 10:30

i hate avocado, the only way i can tolerate it, is by turning it into a smoothie.
I buy them from the market and i store them in the fridge. You can apparently freeze them by cutting them in half, scooping them out of their skins and freezing them on a baking tray and then pop them in a freezer bag. I am tight so always scour the reduced section and then freeze fruit and veg for smoothies - i save a lot that way.

if the smoothie is too grassy tasting add more fruit, i have reduced my fruit content as my taste buds have changed.

i love almond milk smoothies - want to try making my own milk, looks easy.

I LOVED cheese but since i have stopped eating so much dairy and meat and seriously upped my veg content i am finding it too rich. i never thought i would say this but its loosing its appeal. I am loving indian and thai foods, they work so well without meat. I have been having 2 raw vegan meals a day and then vegetarian in the evenings.

still cooking meat for the rest of the family but adding more veggie meals, converting them by stealth!

weaselsquirrel · 15/01/2015 10:49

Wow mrssteve you have made huge changes! I plan to have 2 smoothies a day and a healthy vegan meal. I'm going to roast some cauliflower for later and have with a veg curry. Feeling so positive at the moment. Plus it has arrived! Courier just dropped it off can't wait to set it up!

Mrsstevejones · 15/01/2015 16:21

I am trying, i am being a bit gung ho at the mo, will be interesting to see how long it lasts!!

Good luck with your first smoothie, let us know how you get on!

weaselsquirrel · 15/01/2015 16:37

Had my first smoothie had it in the small cup, half a banana, small apple, 4 strawberries, 5 cashew nuts, few pumpkin seeds and tbs of oats and soya milk with a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was very thick and lovely and very filling. A sort of trial for my breakfast for the morning. Can't wait to get the chia seeds and spirulina powder to add, I've ordered from amazon as very cheap. I'm going to go lidl and aldi and the big tesco later to get everything else for green smoothies and my vegan tea tomorrow night. Going to do a veg casserole topped with mashed sweet potato.

Kelly1814 · 15/01/2015 17:20

Weasel, I'm not gonna lie, the spinach force is strong! This is why I go heavy on the ginger!

Also, a bit of pineapple makes EVERYTHING taste amazing.

weaselsquirrel · 15/01/2015 18:13

Thanks for the heads up kelly, I have pineapple so going to chop it up and freeze it later. Anyone recommend any seeds/nuts? I have pumpkin seeds and cashews and ordered chia and spirulina from amazon. Anything I'm forgetting, off to aldi and lidl in a bit.

Kelly1814 · 15/01/2015 19:00

Be sparing with the chia, they are a bit like frogspawn crossed with cotton wool, they expand and make everything thicker!

I like flaxseeds....you can't taste them. I have tried almonds but they made the drinks a bit gritty, plus I kept finding bits in my teeth.

My new top tip is to buy spirulina or powdered wheatgrass from amazon as I think someone else mentioned. It's v good value, You can barely taste a scoop of it in the bullet whereas drinking it in water is like licking a pavement.

weaselsquirrel · 16/01/2015 15:44

I've orders the spirulina powder. So I'm loving the nutribullet but not liking bananas in it. Everything tastes of bananas, I guess its about getting used to things. Considering how much sugar is in fruit it all tastes bitter and disgusting im preferring the green smoothies, and I've made a lovely vegan casserole for tea.

ihatethecold · 22/01/2015 14:13

How is everyone getting on?
I've enjoyed following this thread.

I have a juicer and a blender but would love a nutri bullet sometime.
I used to add a mixture of flax seed, almonds, Brazil nuts and co enzyme q10.
It's made by Linwoods and comes in a pouch that's stored in the fridge.
It's lovely on porridge or yoghurt too.

This thread has inspired me to start again.

Kelly1814 · 22/01/2015 16:17

Hello ihatethecold (great username btw). I'm still loving mine. I start every day with my nutribullet concoction, make it up, put it in my bag and drink it when I get to work.

I like the feeling that whatever else happens in the day, I've started off well.

ihatethecold · 22/01/2015 16:20

Hi kelly

That's a very good way to view it! Smile
