i really want to start planning meals for the week so that we stop just going out for expensive food from M&S at the last minute.
i'm making a chicken casserole tonight (for tomorrow) and realised i didn't have any onions. Phoned DH who was out and about and he brought home three large-ish brown onions from Marks whihc cost £1.59. For, let me repeat, THREE onions. THREE

Oh can I have it too please - have been meaning to do this for ages! I end up at supermarket every 2/3 days, buy anything and end up chucking loads.

Thanks! e-mail is BudaFi at hotmail dot com

BudaBeast · 04/10/2006 12:36

And it is not geeky - it is organised!!

mancmum · 04/10/2006 12:52

please me too I would love this quite often spend 2 quid on onions... please would you send it to mancmum at hotmail . com HUGE THANKS!

lucyfercat · 04/10/2006 12:56

That's a lot of onions mancmum!

How are you? not seen you around for a while!

Pidge · 04/10/2006 12:56

Glad I'm not the only geek out there! We have a word document with tables in it - but there's nothing in it, we just print it out and write our meals on it for the week ahead.

Don't know how we ever managed without it. We definitely eat better food too because it's planned. Plus we had a phase of looking through our cookbooks and trying to cook one new thing per week. Haven't managed that for a while though!

mancmum · 04/10/2006 12:59

Hi Lucyfercat!! Have not been on recently -- trying to get on with job but keep lurking on here and then having to work twice as hard.. which makes me want to come back on here... vicious circle!!

How's thing with you? Is DD settled OK at nursery mine is loving it... not a single tear was shed by her as she waltzed into her nursery not even a token one for me!!

aieeeeeeeeeeeeeetch71 · 04/10/2006 14:12

goodness, a lot of people seem to think that geeky is a bad thing. i am a geek, and i am proud. (i just didn't have a menu planner is all...)

lucyfercat · 04/10/2006 14:25

mancmum - yes she absolutely loves it - as you say, not a backward glance! 'it's really good at nursery mummy' she keeps telling me, infering that's it's ot as much fun at home I think!!

dinny · 04/10/2006 14:28

can you CAT me a copy, Aero?

PandaG · 04/10/2006 14:41

Not got a spreadsheet, but do menu plan - have done it weekly for years, but just started doing it monthly - buy all meat for month in one go at Farm shop, Sainsbo's deliovery once a month for dry goods, organic veg delivery once a week, quick shop on Saturdays and extra fresh stuff during the week. Much less wastage and less shopping time. I have worked out a list of possible meals for each day (Tuesday is veggie, Wed is chicken for example) so over the week there is a balance of different types of meals, then is a quick case of pick one meal per day for 4 weeks, very quick, and as each week has similar meals, the delivery order is quite quick too.

wouldn't mind a look at YG's spreadsheet too, to see if it is simpler than my system - hate meal planning with a passion and anything to make it quickewr is a bonus! pandag at safe-mail dot net. THanks

thankyoupoppet · 04/10/2006 15:14

could I please have one too?

bit worried that someone might be fed up with this so could someone who has received one but not forwarded one please pass a copy onto me?

does that make sense?

smoggie · 04/10/2006 15:38

oooh ooohh oooh...me too pleeeease!
I've just started doing this but I'm running out of inspiration. If somebody who has already received this could forward it to me to save aero I would be v grateful.
I just do a written one week by week, but have been scouring the cookbooks and Good Food mag to make it a bit more interesting recently.
There are some good freebie pull-outs in the good food - one was food for kids, the other family food and another comfort food. V useful for mid-week stuff. But am wanting to be a bit more organised.

thankyoupoppet · 04/10/2006 17:06

NatalieJane · 04/10/2006 17:16
