i really want to start planning meals for the week so that we stop just going out for expensive food from M&S at the last minute.
i'm making a chicken casserole tonight (for tomorrow) and realised i didn't have any onions. Phoned DH who was out and about and he brought home three large-ish brown onions from Marks whihc cost £1.59. For, let me repeat, THREE onions. THREE

May I have a copy too, please? I'm a recent convert to meal planning but could do with some help. I will make a donation to British Heart Foundation too (one of my fave charities). Email vix5868 at hotmail dot com. Many, many thanks aero and yorkiegirl.

Aero · 05/10/2006 20:28

crazydazy, I have sent it straight to your email address, twice. It's been returned both times from there. That is why I CAT'd you, so you could then reply to me and I could reply to that with the spreadsheet.

larlylou · 05/10/2006 20:39

would there be any chance I could add my name onto the long list for a copy of the meal planner also? I will happily donate to BHF. [email protected] - many thanks.

QuiQuoQua · 05/10/2006 20:44

aero, could you please please... [begging on knees emoticon]

smoggie · 05/10/2006 20:58

yorkiegirl and aero
Thank -you - got mine yesterday and am using it as the template for my 4 week plan. I've just done this week's plan and ordered the food online so that I don't get tempted to buy more.

Just for info to anyone else who is interested - keep an eye out in the Good Food magazine (i subscribe using my tesco clubcard vouchers) - they often do little themed pull-out magazines that I've found to be really useful - there was a 'food for kids' one about 6 months ago, a 'family food one this month, comfort food, italian food and summer food. THey're often really quick, simple and healthy recipes. No I'm not on commission, but thought I'd spread the word as I've found them so helpful when you''re stuck in a rut of the 'same old same old' and don't want to spend hours on something for children with the potential for it to be 'yuk'ed at'.

mrsdarcy · 05/10/2006 22:07

Got it! Thank you, Aero and YG

Will make sure I send a donation.

Aero · 05/10/2006 22:44

Duh - meant creepydazy not crazydazy - sorry. Hope YG can sort you out with one.

MumRum · 05/10/2006 22:45

Aero · 05/10/2006 23:15

Sent more now. Think all who asked should have one now.

Stargazer · 05/10/2006 23:20

Okay - can I have a copy too - please? I hope I'm not too late. mail to [email protected]

More than happy to make a donation. YG - hope you're doing okay and that the girls are well.

Thanks in advance

I'm a recent convert to meal planning to... but not very sophisticated like you lot.

I just scribble a vague idea next to each day of the week on a sheet of A4, and do the shopping based on that, and only for one main meal each day. Still, it's fantastic.. I used to drive home from work thinking Omigod what the hell are we going to eat for dinner tonight, now I just glance at my list in the morning and take whatever out of the freezer. Never thought it would work for me but it does!
