my mum used to make it quite often - we loved it. DH isn't keen on Cauliflower so I don't......

CarolinaMoon · 26/09/2006 16:16

because cauliflower can be v boring otherwise.

ComeOVeneer · 26/09/2006 16:17

Yes all the time. WHy? Because we like it.

Sophiev73 · 26/09/2006 16:17

Cos it's cheap, filling, full of milk and veggie...

liath · 26/09/2006 16:17

I do becuase it's nicer that plain old steamed cauli. It freezes OK too.

ComeOVeneer · 26/09/2006 16:18

And it is lovely to dip your chips in the cheese sauce (as a special treat you understand).

we have it a side dish with the sunday roast - have to make it from scratch so we can give plain cauliflower to ds1 before the sauce goes on

beckybrastraps · 26/09/2006 16:18

Why not?

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 16:18

I don't think I've had cauliflower cheese in my entire life

Yeah, we LOVE it with our roast dinner.

bosscat · 26/09/2006 16:19

cauliflower cheese is gorgeous. I make it from scratch too and its lovely with roast beef. or baked potatoes and steak

iota · 26/09/2006 16:19

that is your loss then, Twigs

Blu · 26/09/2006 16:19

Yes, sometimes. DS really likes it, I like it, it goes well with some things...

It has to be very well made. No watery cauliflower, the sauce has to be very smooth and cheesy and with some nutmeg, pepper etc in it. And lots of bubbling cheese on top.

I bought soem frozen Aunty Betty cauliflower cheese and it isn't very nice.

hulababy · 26/09/2006 16:19

I have made it. Not for a quile though. Infact, now fancy it again and I have a cauliflower that came int he veg box today. Might be on this week's dinner plan!

ComeOVeneer · 26/09/2006 16:19

I do "leek cheese" too, as a side dish with a roast, or wrap leeks in ham cover in chees sauce and bake in the oven (again can't resist chips with it so we don't have it that often).

beckybrastraps · 26/09/2006 16:21

We're having cheesy leeks for tea tonight.

Not a big cauliflower fan. But also do cheesy broccoli.

KBear · 26/09/2006 16:21
