Bozza · 26/09/2006 16:21

I make it every so often because we all like it. I generally serve it with garlic bread though and call it a meal.

Misspiggy · 26/09/2006 16:21

Yes, I do because the DSs won't eat cauliflower without the cheesy sauce but, more to the point, it's delicious especially with gammon.

ComeOVeneer · 26/09/2006 16:21

No, brocoli cheese just doesn't seem right somehow.

Blu · 26/09/2006 16:22

PMSL Fio...v norty!
(if that was a Betty Blue joke...but i've just realised she is Aunt Bessie, isn't she? Our patron saint of the frozen pancake and yorkshire pudding?)

Bozza · 26/09/2006 16:22

And quite often add brocolli and leeks in but still call it cauliflower cheese. Might be on next week's menu plan!

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 16:23

Add garlic mushrooms, chopped peppers and leeks, maybe some bacon, fried onion, courgette...
When they are all mixed into that cheese sauce with a crispy top and a non-green veg the children dont even know they are eating the delicious vegetables I make it with savoy and vege sausages, its a favourite here!!

alligator · 26/09/2006 16:24

love cauli cheese.

plain is fine as a side dish.
also add layers of thin sliced parboiled potatoes on the bottom of the dish and the top or cooked pasta for a main course
Also add leeks, courgettes, mushrooms, broccoli or onions if I have them.

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2006 16:25

Likin the sounds of the leeks...

Got the aunt bessie stuff in the freezer, not tried it yet

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 16:27

bet you that would be nicer JOsephine if you left out the cauliflower

Did she ever sell the soap in the end?

Mercy · 26/09/2006 16:28

Just found this cauliflower recipe

and health benefits here

alligator · 26/09/2006 16:28

If you add paprika to the sauce it goes a lovely orange coulur which si nice too. I sometimes add chilli powder or mustard powder to spice up the flavour.

Or if dp isnt around use a nice smoke applewood cheese yummy.

am getting hungry now

Gillian76 · 26/09/2006 16:31

Where did fastasleep disappear to?

yes to cauli cheese but very rarely.

Blu · 26/09/2006 16:32

You're just anti-cauliflower, aren't you Twig?
A good Aloo Ghobi, mmmm!

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 16:34

cauliflower makes you fart doesn't it

and it smells like farts when you boil it too

see tis food of the devil I tell ya

OP posts:
puff · 26/09/2006 16:35

I make it quite a lot, but it's usually cauliflower & broccoli cheese. Kids call it cheesy trees, when they have it for dinner.

ScummyMummy · 26/09/2006 16:35

mmmm. My mum made the best cauliflower cheese in the world ever. I like aloo ghobi too. Cauliflower needs strong flavours with it.

puff · 26/09/2006 16:36

good strong cheddar for the sauce - divine.

CarolinaMoon · 26/09/2006 16:40

my mum used to make Curried Cauliflower too, which is curry powder stirred into sour cream and then mixed with the cauliflower and served cold in a buffet/salad-type scenario.

Bozza · 26/09/2006 16:42

It certainly makes DH fart. He blames it on my cooking (cauli cheese is one of his faves) but I argue that the other 3 of us who ate the same meal are not similarly afflicted.

mousiemousie · 26/09/2006 16:44

There is nothing wrong with cauliflower cheese. Do you have PMT Twiglett, are you channelling it at cauliflower cheese?

Personally I love cauliflower cooked or raw and find it very pretty to look at!

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2006 16:46

Big kerfuffle Gillian

kimi · 26/09/2006 17:23

Its one of the few things im good at making

LadyTophamHatt · 26/09/2006 17:24

yes I do, because I love it.

Hate cauliflower otherwise....
