I've made a couple recently that I want to show off to people... We could all go 'ooooh' at each other's efforts!

No afraid I don't, people keep telling me I should but I work full time, as you know its very time consuming plus Im very critical and always think everyone elses are so much better! Good luck if you do go into business.

nannycook · 16/03/2014 22:44

Yes I'm critical of my cakes and always striving for perfection, I guess there will always be someone better then us. I'm going partime as from april, hopefully wont feel so stressed then.

HootShoot · 16/03/2014 22:47

Hi Nanny

Yes it was from Debbie Browns book! It wasn't too bad to make, I didnt leave myself enough time to chill it down properly before covering so my top layer is a bit wonky. I loved doing the teddy bears and little details though.

I love the one in the same book with the pregnant lady hanging out baby clothes to dry. I always think that would be a lovely way to announce a pregnancy Smile

nannycook · 16/03/2014 22:50

Its gorgeous isn't it ? And the one WIth the woman and baby on the bed. Did you actually make the turrets out of icing too? Was gonna use sponge as it seems such a waste of icing.

ineedsomeinspiration · 16/03/2014 22:53

Not the prettiest but one of my yummiest creations. Banana and toffee loaf with peanut butter icing it was bloody lovely.

Here's another. I can't post others as they're ones I did for charity using their logos and if the ones I've already posted don't out me, they certainly will. I'm doing my fil 60th birthday cake this week, will post that when it's done.

I did, and it did feel a waste! They are actually pretty small though, about the size of a small rolling pin, so it might be tricky to get a piece of sponge carved to the right dimensions. I thought about putting two mini swiss rolls top to toe and covering but I thought they might slip when standing in position. I also though about using rice krispy marshmallow mixture, but I made the crying babies from the same book and found it such a nightmare to work with I swore never to use it again!

I was going to make the washing cake to announce my current pregnancy but I've had a few problems early on and had to tell family before I wanted too. Ah well, maybe if I have baby number 3 I will!

stealthsquiggle · 16/03/2014 23:18

Nanny - I can't see photos, but I have done a castle and I did hollow turrets our of gumpaste and put LED tealights in the bottom of each so that the windows lit up - worked a treat.

nannycook · 17/03/2014 07:49

Aw hootshoot, many congrats on your fab news!

Well if they're small I might just do the same then.

Stealth, that sounds a brilliant idea, would love to see that pic, where would I find those type of lights?

Hugandroll, your cakes are lovely.

Ineedsome, yours are fab too.

Slongette · 17/03/2014 07:59
