Just decorated dh birthday cake to ds's instructions. Its marzipan, not icing.

Nannycook your cakes are beautiful, is the lace difficult to do. I've made a few just as a hobby and am getting anxious as doing my first wedding cake in a few weeks for my sis in law

I did a unicorn for madthing5 and thought I had put pics on this thread but obviously not. Will try and find some to upload.

IIRC, I joined this thread initially to show off my first attempt at sugar flowers because I couldn't show them off on FB because I was keeping my newly developed skill a secret - that first cake was a dummy run for this one - MIL's 60th cake. I didn't want her to know I could make flowers so it would be a complete surprise when I presented it to her! I added up all the hours I spent making flowers - I made a lot of spares due to the 3 hour & 1 hour journeys they were going to have to make - & the whole cake took a total of about 4 or 5 days over the course of 6 weeks. By the end I was utterly fed up of icing & swore I'd never touch the stuff again...

Less than a month later... The Easter cupcakes & biscuits I made for our last toddler group of the term!

My Christmas cake. The soldier is too big and the piping is shit but other than that it's OK! Am out of practise. Not quite finished yet, when I get to my parents' house I'll take it off its board, put it on a cake plate and add a sausage of green around the bottom :)
