Would anyone enjoy a cake picture thread, for boasting?!

I've made a couple recently that I want to show off to people... We could all go 'ooooh' at each other's efforts!

I've added a new 'blatently me' name to my list of name-changes just for the purposes of this thread. MIL's 60th is next year & she loves flower arranging so I thought I'd make her a fancy flowery cake. I've been practicing for DMum's professional cake maker birthday, since I've never actually made flowers before! I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but vaguely followed instructions in one of Alan Dunn's books to make some roses! I'm happy-ish with how it's turned out but I don't think I'd ever be truly happy unless it actually looked like a rose bush! It's not quite finished yet - I've got 2 dozen petals to arrange on the base but I'll do that at the last minute. I'm terrified enough about transporting it like this minus the fairy let alone with lots of petals on the bottom too!

If I didn't have 2 small children I'd have made lots more flowers for it but the DC insist on being fed & played with! Most inconsiderate of them! I've definitely got the flower-making bug but I absolutely hated trying to arrange them on the top. They're stuck in using straws & melted chocolate & I had several mini-meltdowns and one full blown panic attack just trying to figure out where to put them! Might get DMum to help with that bit for MILs cake - she hates actually making flowers but has a much better eye than me for placement.

Ds2's bday cake it's the eye of chtulu which is from a game called teraria he plays.

I only really do cakes for the girls birthdays but have helped some friends out along the way too. Def no Delia smith. Give myself a nightmare doing them twice every year but do enjoy the satisfaction that I did them myself. Wishing the DD's didnt keep upping the game each year though!.. DD1 wants a 3d dalamtion dog cake!

The frozen cake was dyed maderia cake as DD2 isnt keen on icing.

Ooh lovely cakes everyone! I've not really done any proper cake making and decorating since having my baby 9 months ago, so none of these are massively recent...

I am amazed by all these cakes! They look fantastic, I have only ever made a few cakes, a super hero one, a number 5 one, a poke ball one and a dinosaur/volcano one (which my eldest DS informed was the wrong shade of grey for a volcano and looked more like a severed zombie stump/arm :( )

So it is my eldest sons birthday in about 6 weeks and he has decided he wants a cake to reflect his interests, he would like 4 tiers, a chessboard, pokemon characters, minecraft and archaeology- so not much then!

My church takes cakes to the local teachers at the end of term. I did the butterfly ones ages ago & the blackboard ones were last week. I was insanely excited by the write-on one! The blackboard cupcakes were the first time I'd tried making cupcake toppers in advance - I'll definitely be doing that again. The butterflies were a nightmare. Pretty sure I didn't get to bed until at least 2am that night!

I'm loving looking at everyone else's. They're all so good!

Birthday cakes for my boys! The giant blocks were the first time I'd done anything like that & was done under the close supervision of my now-professional-cake-maker mother while I was pregnant with DS2 & feeling like I was about to pass out! The hedgehog was his 2nd birthday & the farm was DS2's 1st - I loved doing that one!

If I hadn't outed myself before, I definitely have now!

EnglishRose Could you combine all his interests into one cake? Black & white squares covering the board for the chess, something like this covering the cake for minecraft & then something like this with Pikachu pushing the wheelbarrow?
