I've made a couple recently that I want to show off to people... We could all go 'ooooh' at each other's efforts!

whoknows the bees are adorable. I'm impressed with the football! I've not attempted anything too round yet. My hemisphere tins usually get used for Minnie Mouse cakes and that's it.

I need to find a decent class nanny I looked at the one in cross keys but the times are awkward for me.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/03/2014 23:14

Thank you, the bees were a lot easier to cover and decorate than the football.

5madthings · 18/03/2014 23:19

I have just added a hemisphere cake tin to my Amazon wish list, along with colouring pastes and some teeny tiny cutters!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/03/2014 23:26

Nanny - I spotted the owl cake and wondered if it was from those tins, hadn't noticed it on the birdcage one, just been back to take a look, they are really impressive.

HippoCritic · 19/03/2014 04:22

All these cakes are amazing Shock

nannycook · 19/03/2014 08:25

Whoknows, the birdcage was abit fatter than I wanted and I found out why, I used the 6.5 tin when it should have the 5inch, made it abit stocky, but it was my first one so I'll learn from it.

All these cakes on are fab fair play.

nannycook · 19/03/2014 08:36

I love your bees too WhoKnows.

stealthsquiggle · 19/03/2014 10:02

The Wilton hidden heart tin didn't turn out cleanly at all Sad

Version 2 now in the oven with copious amounts of cake release spray - still, the DC will be pleased - there is nothing they like better than "spare cake"

VanGogh · 19/03/2014 15:34

Nannycook I'm sorry if I missed it but are you an amazing professional type per chance?!

Alpaca how did you manage to get the two hemispheres to stick together ad how did you present the finished globe?

I am totally bowled away by these. We truly are a talented bunch that there's actually a cake on the board and we've not just wolfed it down with a pot of tea!

CakeNameChanger · 19/03/2014 15:53

Seconded! These cakes are absolutely fantastic!! I love this Fred, nothing like seeing other people's ideas to inspire. I am now ITCHING to make a dragon cake!

Plant cake for MIL's birthday... DH insisted on "helping" as it was for his mother and as you may be able to see, went a little overboard with the edible glue!

Still, the pot was full chocolate cake "soil" with crushed up flake "mud" under the foliage!

The third Pic is of a "mad hatter's tea party" cake made by then DP and I for absolurely no reason what so ever. We just wanted to see how crazily coloured a cake we could achieve!

The "Christening" Cake I made on a course in Putney. It was an absolutely fantastic course and the first time I had ever used sugarpaste. All of my cakes have come from what I learned on that day!

The gingerbread house is now a family tradition. We have SO MUCH chocolate and sweets gifted to us over Christmas that we create a gingerbread house after Christmas day, decorate it with anything that we have been given. We then take it to the big family gathering to share with everyone between Christmas and new year! (I'm ace at making scaffolding to hold up drying walls using tins of beans!) It's a great project!

Vangough, Very nice of you to say so, I'm not really Sure who gets to call themsleves professional as far as cake decorating is concerned, but at the moment its my hobby, but saying that people say that if you sell your cakes then it isn't a hobby, I do have a website, but do have FB page, which is nanny cooks cakes. Theres nothing more I'd like to do then to make cakes professionally, sadly I work fulltime for the moment.

nannycook · 19/03/2014 17:44

Doradoo, I made the flag cake too the one with the flag inside, took me ages, turned out nice, just had to remember which bit went where.

nannycook · 19/03/2014 17:45

PrincessPotsie · 19/03/2014 17:49

I've had a play with cake pops over the last year too....

The St Patrick's Day ones are a mix of white/green/orange coloured sponge inside and the xmas puds are made with xmas pud and melted chocolate to hold it together!
