THANKS A LOT.

I've eaten half a car in 2 days!!! I keep going at it with a damn spoon. It is seriously the most delicious thing I think I have ever tasted.

This delight is on special in Sainsbury's at the moment and I have resisted it for the past 3 weeks and after reading this thread I shall continue to resist as I know I will eat the whole jar myself, from a spoon!

stottiecake · 02/03/2014 22:05

We got it to brighten up ds' dairy and egg free diet but it is especially loved by me (on warm banana loaf) we make pretend dairy free banoffee pudding (banana cake, dairy free icecream, lotus spread)

Laymizzrarb · 02/03/2014 22:09

Oh god! Spread with bits of Dime bar? I need to get to ikea.

mysteryfairy · 02/03/2014 22:16

I sometimes think it's the only thing that stops my vegan DS from fading away. I can't believe how fast he goes through a jar of it! He prefers smooth but isn't very discriminating about it!

bagpuss19 · 25/03/2014 11:52

I put it on oatcakes thereby rendering it calorie free ;)

CockBollocks · 25/03/2014 11:55

i have got through 2 jars in two weeks! Its yummy on rice cakes thus also rendering it a health food!!!

noswingpark · 25/03/2014 11:58

It's lovely I've been buying it for weeks (and eating a jar a week) its so nice on thick granary bread with salted butter.

Getyourflipflopson · 25/03/2014 12:04

Ooohh, we bought this the other day for the first time, it didn't last long in this house either! Has anybody tried the crunchy one? FYI, it's delicious on toast with sliced banana on top.

MarrowsMom · 25/03/2014 12:06

Oh my flipping god, you can get it in this country? I've had a jar bought in France last summer which we opened on pancake day (on pancakes with bananas and golden syrup btw, actual heaven in your mouth) and we've had to ration it! Right, off to Sainsburys...

Hummymummy · 25/03/2014 12:35

We've been bringing this back from French holidays for years. Where it's called speculoos. The smooth or crunchy is down to personal taste.

A favourite on pancakes in this house. But have also been used in cupcakes and buttercream toppings. Yum.

In France you can also get a biscuit sprinkle - on ice cream it's yummy. Have also seen cereals and hot drinks but not tried those.....

Like others the jar mysteriously goes down so I think we have a fairy in the house who digs in with a spoon!

belgina · 25/03/2014 14:27

As a proud Belgian I feel a desperate need to point out that this delicious stuff is in fact Belgian. Lotus is the original and any other brands making it are copies Biscuit. The speculoos/speculaas biscuits are of course traditional for both Belgium and Holland, where the biscuits on bread were enjoyed as breakfast ;)
Love the stuff and I'm so glad I don't need to import it anymore. I'm in the smooth camp, ds in the crunchy. I do the shopping - smooth wins Grin

Deathwatchbeetle · 25/03/2014 16:35

Jeez. I have only just 'discovered' the biscuits. Don't tell me I have to buy a (probably very calorific jar of the stuff now? Looks down at stomach and cries).

lucjam · 25/03/2014 16:40

I went to Belgium just before Xmas. I picked up a bag of lotus sweets. Think maltesers but the filling is that biscuit stuff. Mmmmmm. I failed to tell the family about them just kept them in my bedside drawer and scoffed them when no one was looking!

NettleTea · 26/03/2014 16:19

I cant even have it in the house....

In fact, I cant even go in a supermarket that stocks it anymore

One jar and Im addicted. Its caramel biscuit crack heaven, finished the jar before evening fell and spent the next day glowering at children who were asking "where is that nice biscuit spread you bought us, mum?"

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2014 16:23

That stuff is heaven on a spoon, could easily eat half a jar & then feel dreadfully sick afterwardsWink

butlerchauffer · 26/03/2014 17:04

Suffering from nutella and peanut butter on rice cake induced nausea as we speak. I CANNOT like any more spreads...

Longtime · 26/03/2014 18:22

Living in Brussels, it's really easy for me to get both the biscuits and the spread but despite having a fairly sweet tooth, I don't like either of them. Have to take them over to the UK for friends who no longer live here though. Those and stroopwafels. And chocolate. Oh and beer.

stainesmassif · 26/03/2014 18:23

Contains Palm oil apparently. Doesn't anyone care?!

Longtime · 26/03/2014 18:24

Did you know you can get speculoos biscuits with chocolate on them? Double whammy!

Laymizzrarb · 26/03/2014 18:36

stroopwafels.....yum

Missmoggs · 26/03/2014 19:19

Half a jar in 2 days - thats why I am not going to buy it!!!

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2014 21:48

Dug out the scrappings I had left from a jar I bought a fortnight ago, delish and all but now feeling very green, that will teach me. When will I learn Envy

scottishmummy · 27/03/2014 06:56

crack spread is dreadful strap line !I'd rethink pushing that!it's not funny and it's dire
Crack spread?as in arse cheeks?spread it on yer bahookie
Or is it attempt at innit humour, crack as in illicit drug,oh must score some factory produced sugar spread

I get it's a marketing push, and mn has tested it.so now has to whip folk into a state of interest to encourage sales

But really mnhq, does anyone need serving suggestions about a spread
Hey kids, don't put it in your ear?
No it's mums crack spread....

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/03/2014 07:02

I can't believe this - we bought a jar because we like the biscuits, one spoonful each and straight into the bin never to be bought again, its even worse tasting than Nutella.

bella1968 · 27/03/2014 09:42

I agree this is a yummy spread to be used with caution!

I found a crepe recipe/pancake cake recipe where they had used this and cream as layers it looked gorgeous!

My H uses it on toast with that spray cream for supper!
