Is anyone excited to see this? I love Baz Luhrman films and this looks gorgeous. Used to be obsessed with Elvis which was a weird childhood hobby! Read everything about him, watched all the films up to my 20s then it waned. The trailers have re triggered my interest. And Tom Hanks - incredible actor, didn't recognise him in the trailer.
It's on my list, just have to persuade dh.

A great film and about the most accurate. Col Parker was a big part of Elvis life so it was told from his side for a change. It was filmed with input from people around at the time sometimes Elvis fans think Elvis was an Angel. He was human and had good and bad sides. I think it summed up how Elvis was a cash cow for many people. Also the fact how the colonel helped with his career.

I saw this tonight! It was spectacular.

The film focussed way too much on the relationship with his manager and hardly anything on his drugtaking/overeating/relationship with Priscilla/Ginger.

The film was about Tom Parkers relationship with Elvis, told from his side of the story so that wasn't unexpected

Tom Hanks was the best part of the film

CuriousMama · 19/08/2022 16:12

Hanks sounded nothing like the real one though

Just watched it on Sky (glad as I could pause for breaks!). Too long and too much Tom Hanks, not enough of the music. I don’t care for the style of Baz Luhrmann, especially not for a biopic. Austin Butler was absolutely amazing and makes the film. So sad that Elvis was yet another talent chewed up by the industry.
