I don't really know how to explain it. The first act dragged - I know it was setting up the reason why they were fighting, but it felt too clunky in places.
Nothing was explained as to why the world had become almost apocalyptic since the snap. Half the population was wiped out, not the entire population, and life would have had to go on - yet it spun the narrative that in the 5 years since the snap people had more or less gone underground.
Hulks character was shit. I felt they were pretty poor to him in IW too, but this was just an abomination. He'd become this casual 15 year old boy who was dabbing (Christ) and I felt that as a final swan song to one of the main Avengers it was poor.
Same goes for Thor. I get grief and guilt, but the reliance on the fact he was fat and out of shape was just meh. Have him depressed and alcohol dependent, but don't make a joke out of it. The Fortnite bit was gag worthy.
No funeral for Natasha. Just left there. Tony gets a funeral but zero mention of Nat not long after she dies.
Thanos was nearly beatable WITH the gauntlet in Infinity War. Yet he doesn't have it now and suddenly he's immortal. Lack of consistency.
I didn't mind the Time Travel plot holes weirdly.
Iron Man had a vision in Ultron about all of them at the end of their life. There was a bit after Avengers Tower was obliterated where I thought that was going to happen, but nada.
I really enjoyed Infinity War. There was a level of suspense and fear that really swept you through the film. For this film, you kind of knew two things - people would return and someone (or more) would die. It kind of ruined the suspense of the film, and it didn't feel quite so tragic, which I know sounds weird as people died/retired, but you almost knew it was either gonna be Cap or Iron Man.
How would I make it better?
Less emotional leaning. Less blasphemy against core characters. Plenty of opportunities to have battles (particularly when they went back in time). Better pacing. More suspense. Explanations of how the world carried in after the snap. And maybe crucially, how the hell did the world adapt to having 3 billion people back?
