Booked to see it tomorrow and v excited!

I think we need a thread to discuss it in.

So I'm starting one now.

I reckon Iron Man retires, Cap dies 😢, Hulk and Thor survive and that they return to the point where Starlord almost has it and get him to take the stone.

Gamorra must come back and I think Loki might.

@JustLooking2019 the “on your left” is referencing what Steve said to Sam in Winter Soldier... first when he met him and kept overtaking/jogging past him... secondly when he woke up in the hospital and Sam was sat by his bedside.

Morgan12 · 28/04/2019 07:52

The more I think about this film the more my head is frazzled with it!

If Steve returns the stones to the exact moment in time they were taken does that not mean Black Widow could be alive?

I'm so so so confused.

Future Nebula being alive isn't right surely?

Also how come they managed to go back in time and get Gamora back but aren't able to do this for Natasha?

Igneococcus · 28/04/2019 08:08

"Also how come they managed to go back in time and get Gamora back but aren't able to do this for Natasha?"

It's a pre-Infinity War Gamora who is in Endgame, not a revived Gamora, isn't it? She doesn't recognize Peter Quill because she hasn't met him yet.

MsMarvellous · 28/04/2019 08:09

@Morgan12 they didn't get Gamora back. The Gamora they got us past Gamora before she died on Vormir. It's Gamora before the Guardians of the Galaxy happened. A reset Gamora.

They didn't actually bring her back from the dead and they can't with Natasha.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/04/2019 08:14

Good point - Gamora coming back was an accident, because 2014 Gamora came with Thanos when Nebula opened the...time portal??? for them, but surely now the team KNOWS it can be done, they could do that with Black Widow, Vision, Tony...Just bring back earlier versions of ALL of them?

This time thing is why I stopped watching Dr Who once the whole River Song storyline kicked into high gear. DS has been known to draw me a diagram to help me understand the way time travel works in Flash 😂

RJnomore1 · 28/04/2019 08:49

It makes no sense.

If Gamora from the past is now in the present, she can’t still be in the past to do all the things she did between the point she left and when she died, as she left and didn’t return? Same for the rest?

The stones went back to the point they left so as not to disturb anything but a person who was involved in key actions leading to getting to the point they were at didn’t?

As I said. Huge pile of pants.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2019 08:56

Urm it is time travel it isn't meant to make any sense you are trying to apply logic it has ruined it for you Rj Grin

RJnomore1 · 28/04/2019 09:11

😬

I can’t help myself I just sat there watching thinking “but...but...but”

I also think iron man is a twat and captain America is boring so it really didn’t do it for me!

ShaggyRug · 28/04/2019 09:13

They explained this in the movie...

If you travel to the past that past become your future.

But it doesn’t cancel out anything that’s already happened in your present. So changing the past doesn’t affect a future you’ve already lived through.

I actually get it. My mind may be weird.

This is why future Nebula can kill her past self without ceasing to exist. Future Nebula already exists therefore her time line will continue no matter what she does to her past self.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2019 09:15

Iron man is a twatGrin I agree Captain America is as dull as dishwasher no hoots did I give about his story.

RJnomore1 · 28/04/2019 09:20

No that doesn’t explain it!

She didn’t live through the future arrived directly from the past - I get the bit about the past being able to be your future that’s logical.

It doesn’t explain someone arriving from the past and not being there to live through what happens and if it didn’t matter they would not have been returning the stones.

It’s just one of several gaping plot holes and obviously I am not great at suspending belief!

I love Thor and the guardians though mrsjayy and I did like the captain marvel film a lot.

ShaggyRug · 28/04/2019 09:27

Well it makes sense to me when you think of multiple interchangeable time lines 🤷‍♀️

Just like Loki has now gone off on his own new timeline with the tesseract.

RJnomore1 · 28/04/2019 09:31

Exactly. Another example. Loki has left the existing timeline so NONE OF IT CAN HAPPEN BECAUSE HE ISNT THERE!!!

😂

SouthWestmom · 28/04/2019 09:33

But the ancient one said that shouldn't happen because then different timelines would occur . So she was anti the numerous options thing.

I'm annoyed gamora is back but BW isn't because it seems a bit odd.

SherlockSays · 28/04/2019 09:34

There is talk of a new Loki series that is being produced by Marvel for Disney+ so this may be where we find out what happened with him next, but it could also just be a Loki series in general.

Morgan12 · 28/04/2019 09:41

Shaggyrug thank you! I actually get that when you explain it that way.

Kingslayer · 28/04/2019 09:42

Exactly. Another example. Loki has left the existing timeline so NONE OF IT CAN HAPPEN BECAUSE HE ISNT THERE!!!

But it already has happened.
Basically they are saying the things you change in the past do not change your future because those things have already happened. However, it can splinter off a whole different timeline, where all those things won't happen

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 28/04/2019 09:48

Another thing that bothered me - when Peter Quill (who is half god) touched the power stone in the original GOTG he nearly died, and took the rest of the team to be able to withstand it. Same goes for when Thanos used the reality stone against CM and basically kicked the shit out of her.

How come when Hawkeye had the Soul Stone, he was able to touch it freely?

AvengersAssemble · 28/04/2019 09:55

Still have not got over the emotions I went through, best film I have ever seen!

SherlockSays · 28/04/2019 10:11

@NigesFakeWalkingStick completely agree - that bothered me too.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2019 10:23

Because Natasha (Rip) gave her soul for the soul stone so it wouldn't take anybody elses so Haweye could hold it

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 28/04/2019 10:24

@SherlockSays glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it.

I also couldn't get over how difficult it was to battle Thanos without the gauntlet when they were nearly able to overpower him with it in Infinity War with far less man/woman powers. They should have been able to destroy him with what they had, perhaps not the army and Iron Man would have always been needed to click to eradicate that but I just kept harking back to IW. Problem is if you make a villain seem mortal in one film, when they are super powerful with the stones, you need consistency in the next.

Weirdly enough the time travel stuff didn't get me as much as I thought it would. It was the implausabilites that were set up from the last one that made me dislike this one more.

PunkRockHippy · 28/04/2019 10:25

How come when Hawkeye had the Soul Stone, he was able to touch it freely?
Perhaps because Hawkeye was the one who retrieved it and sacrificed Natasha. So special dispensation.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2019 10:25

And now I'm sad about Brucehulk being sad about Natasha sacrificing herself for her family Sad

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 28/04/2019 10:27

@Mrsjayy I wondered that but why have the narrative throughout the film that only godly beings can hold stones? It isn't explained. It could have easily been added into the storyline that the soul stone could be held once a soul had been sacrificed.

Even Dr Strange couldn't hold his own stone, in IW he had to pass it using magic. Same with ancient one - she passed it to the Hulk using force rather than holding it in her hands. If you're going to make the stones seem as if mortal people can't hold them, you can't then have Hawkeye, who frankly is probably the least powerful character (when compared to Hulk and Thor) just hold the stone in his hand.
