Booked to see it tomorrow and v excited!

I think we need a thread to discuss it in.

So I'm starting one now.

I reckon Iron Man retires, Cap dies 😢, Hulk and Thor survive and that they return to the point where Starlord almost has it and get him to take the stone.

Gamorra must come back and I think Loki might.

Nobody has mentioned Natasha yet, now that was sad :(

Also confused about where Gamora is, and why Captain Marvel wasn't more involved.

Glad Cap got a happy ending, it will be interesting to see what they do with Bucky now.

LeslieKnope2020 · 25/04/2019 20:42

Such an incredible movie! So much happened I feel like I need to watch it again.

SPOILERS BELOW

My favourite moments were:
All the female characters coming together to help Captain Marvel.
Captain America using Mjölnir against Thanos and practically turning into a god of thunder.
Everyone coming through the portals behind Cap when he's facing Thanos on his own. Such a powerful scene!
Thor and Korg playing fortnite. I absolutely love Korg!
Found it hilarious when Antman's taco got blown away and then Nebula walked passed and said something like 'be careful on reentry, there's an idiot in the courtyard'.
Loved the rolling shot of everyone at Iron Man's funeral and it was nice to see the young boy who helped Iron Man in IM3 there too (young boy stood on his own).
Cap passing the shield to Falcon was touching and very special.
Tony Stark talking to his father was nice to see.
Cap's "hail hydra" had everyone laughing.
Tony's build a bare comment was hilarious!
Hulk and bruce sharing the same body to make a charming almost hamdsome Hulk. Hulk pretending to be angry Hulk when they went back in time was very funny.

So much more! It all just blew my mind and I can't wait to see it again.

SouthWestmom · 25/04/2019 21:15

Oh I'm in the minority so far. Still in cinema as kids refuse to leave . Already googled and there's no end credits.

I didn't like it. Way too sentimental. Hated all the dead parent moments.
I was bored half way through....

Loki is getting a TV series on the new Disney streaming service.

I just had a mini flashback of Hulk dabbing!!!

I'm a little bit gutted about Heimdall, his death in IW looks to be it for him.

Definitely felt uncomfortable with the way they played Thor. Felt like they were using obesity and depression as the punchline to an oft repeated joke, and it didn't sit well with me. He did manage to carry on and perform despite his 'affliction', but yeah... That's probably my least favourite part of it.

I wish we'd had more of Cap Marvel, but she was dealing with unknown trauma on other planets. Plus she's a whole lot more powerful than everyone else so they had to keep her in reserve.

Re: the timeline, I think because the stones were returned to their original times, there was only ever one timeline, it's just hazy on the reality front be sure if got messed up a bunch.
Otherwise it's a mess, they made all the mistakes they slated every other time travel movie for! (Intentionally, I expect.)

BlueKarou · 25/04/2019 21:21

There's an anvil noise at the end of the credits. Like an iron man suit making noise. Not worth the 7+ minutes of waiting, imho.

Halfeatentoast · 25/04/2019 21:23

nice to see the young boy who helped Iron Man in IM3 there too

Ooooh THANK YOU Leslie! I couldn't work out who he was and can't talk to my husband about it coz he's not watching it until tomorrow. Bugged me all afternoon!

PunkRockHippy · 25/04/2019 21:38

Yeah in my head the sound at the end was IM3-boy making his own suit to become the next Iron Man.

Who was standing behind IM3-boy, next to Maria Hill? It was an older white man but I couldn’t place him.

The stones have gone back to their original timelines, which was v important otherwise Dr Strange wouldn’t have been able to defeat Dormammu. But Thanos hasn’t, so that will be a timeline divergence to a universe where Loki, Heimdall, Vision, Black Widow etc are all alive still.

Have to say Black Widow’s death was the one thing that didn’t pull on me like it should have done, but I’ve just never really liked the character - Scarlett Johansson irrationally annoys me whatever she does - and I’ve never really believed the bond between her and Clint, it seems too forced all the time. But then maybe I’m just jealous as I do have a thing for Jeremy Renner Grin

BlueKarou · 25/04/2019 21:44

Yeah, when it became clear it was going to be either Nat or Clint going over the edge I switched off a bit - didn't mind too much either way who went. I reasoned that Nat was only existing to keep the Avengers going, whereas Clint had a family to fight for, so it panned out the way that made the most sense to me.

SouthWestmom · 25/04/2019 21:49

Oh I also got really tired bored working out who was when where and why.
Interesting that they had to do the whole 'it's not like back to the future' because otherwise Tony's kid and Nebula wouldn't exist anymore.

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 25/04/2019 21:50

I did get goose bumps when they did 'can you hear me / to the left' though.

RunningNinja79 · 25/04/2019 22:05

So Im not going to see this as I found the last one a bit boring TBH. Most films that are either set in space or have long fighting scenes just bore me. Also those where I have to think too much.

However, I am curious what happens. Also DH is taking DD1 on sat so I can sit and feel smug that I know what happens before him haha

So Iron man dies? How?
Cap goes back in time to live out his days with his true love
Black widow also dies?
They reverse the finger click by Thanos by moving stones to their correct places?
Any other deaths? Any couples get together?

What about the guardians of the galaxy? They not in it?

Any mention or tribute to Stan Lee in there?

SouthWestmom · 25/04/2019 22:08

Iron man saves the day and then dies
The click thing seems a bit random - they do it once to bring everyone back and then again to get rid of Thanos army. I feel like there should be a magic spell to go with it though.

Regarding time lines, if you go onto reddit and search for the marvel studios subreddit theres some great posts on the discussion megathreads explaining it :)

PunkRockHippy · 25/04/2019 22:24

I can never follow Reddit threads, they’re all over the place.

Running - basically, 5 years after the snap, the Avengers figure out how to time travel (via quantum realm from Antman, and Bruce Banner/Tony Stark being very clever), and they split into teams to pull off a ‘time heist’ and collect all the infinity stones from the past and bring them to the present, where they make their own version of the gauntlet and install the stones. Hulk puts it on and does a snap to bring everyone back, which injures Hulk but he’s ok because Hulk.

But Thanos turns up, big battle with everyone, ending with Iron Man wearing the gauntlet and doing a snap to dust team Thanos, but because he’s only a puny human, he’s fatally injured when he does that and dies on the battlefield with Rhodes, Peter Parker and Pepper all by his side.

Black Widow dies during one of the time heist missions getting the soul stone - same as Gamora did in Infinity War - a soul for a soul. Her and Hawkeye fought over who would sacrifice themselves.

Guardians - Rocket and Nebula afe part of the Avengers team through the whole film, Groot, Quill, Drax and Mantis turn up for the battle. They also have a fun postscript at the end setting up for Guardians 3.

Stan Lee has his final cameo - driving past in the 70s time travel bit, shouting “Make love not war!”

RunningNinja79 · 25/04/2019 22:36

Thank you punk I am now saved from wasting 3 hours of my life. Grin

I have seen all the other films (apart from Captain Marvel) so thought I needed to know how it all ends

MoniqueTonique · 25/04/2019 22:42

All I can say is that was so so good. I went with my 15yr old DS and 3 of his mates and am now officially 'cool mum'Grin. It loved up to the hype, I enjoyed every minute, laughed a fair few times, cried actual tears at Ironman's death and funeral. Slightly gutted that Thor did not provide eye candy but otherwise all good👍👍👍

MoniqueTonique · 25/04/2019 22:42

lived up, not loved up

Mrsjayy · 25/04/2019 23:26

I am just home and loved it I thought it was overall amazing some bits were meh i had a great night

Mrsjayy · 25/04/2019 23:29

There was some young guys behind us 1 of them was properly sobbing at ironman poor kid had to have a you ok buddy pat on the back from his mate bless him

jessicawessica · 26/04/2019 00:10

Why did Cap Am give his shield to Falcon and not Bucky?
Hated the whole Thor getting drunk and slobby thing.
I thought only Thor could use his hammer?
What happened to Loki?
Loved the whole replaying previous acts when they went back in time meeting their former selves.
Black Widow...why?
HATED the whole "I'm Capt Marvel and you cannot possibly win this without me" thing. We all managed pretty well before YOU showed up, thanks.
But then I hated Captain Marvel.

jessicawessica · 26/04/2019 00:13

I think they did the click thing in one of the Iron Man Films....the one with the Red Skull?

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 00:29

I thought Nick Fury would be in it more i did one of those sob things when i saw him though

MuddlingMackem · 26/04/2019 00:32

Hated the whole Thor getting drunk and slobby thing.

I thought it was very well done, although I didn't like to see Thor so badly affected by everything that had happened.

bakedbeanzontoast · 26/04/2019 00:37

I was really disappointed- I'll go and see it in a cpl if weeks again though to give it another chance. But this is probably a problem with me rather than the film as I have a learning issue which meant the total focus on time travel was very hard to follow. I enjoyed the first 40 odd mins.

CassandraCross · 26/04/2019 00:45

Noeuf I don't think you are alone, or in the minority, in your view judging by comments elsewhere on the internet. It seems a fairly mixed reaction.
