Booked to see it tomorrow and v excited!

I think we need a thread to discuss it in.

So I'm starting one now.

I reckon Iron Man retires, Cap dies 😢, Hulk and Thor survive and that they return to the point where Starlord almost has it and get him to take the stone.

Gamorra must come back and I think Loki might.

That was emotional - Tony and his dad, Cap and Peggy, "Avengers Assemble."

I'm not sure I'm strong enough for the emotional onslaught of Game of Thrones' endgame.

I didn't like Thor being a fool. The 'joke' wore thin.

DH desperately wanted to see 'Red Hulk.'

I need to see it again. AIBU for wanting to go again this weekend? My family are lightweights.

I watched it in 3D IMAX. After waiting for so long the opening scence with Hawkeye comes on and some latecomer insists we are in her seats and asks us to move, then realised that she had the wrong row. I completely missed the scene Angry

NotDavidTennant · 27/04/2019 00:08

Captain Marvel was a massive box office success. Any evidence she was cut from Endgame?

jessicawessica · 27/04/2019 00:17

I have been listening to numerous reviews on the radio and TV and they all share the same view. She had a lot more scenes in End Game when it was filmed. But when CM was released, even though it had a lot of success at the box office, she wasn't welcomed into the Avengers stable as well as they expected.
So there was some editing done on End Game....and I think it shows. Her scenes seem very clunky and almost like an add on and even I found them odd.. They obviously had to keep her in for the fight scene otherwise it would have needed re filming.

jessicawessica · 27/04/2019 00:30

I think the reason a lot of Avenger fans didn't take to her was purely based on loyalty.
22 films with the majority being the same characters we have grown to love.
Introducing a new character near the end never works....the viewer needs time to build a rapport with that character.
Then to find that that new character plays a pivotal role at the end can leave some fans feeling a bit cheated.
It's like a murder mystery where the murderer turns out to be someone who's only been in the whole thing for 10 minutes.

MuddlingMackem · 27/04/2019 00:41

Maybe we'll get the cut scenes back in an extended edition for the DVD / Blu-Ray release. Wonder how many minutes they would add to the running time. At least we'll be able to pause a disc for a loo break though. Grin

NotDavidTennant · 27/04/2019 00:46

So no evidence then.

CassandraCross · 27/04/2019 00:47

That was the impression I got jessicawessica that MCU fans who had followed all the films were not on board with a new character just swanning into the team out of nowhere and taking a lead role and I agree.

NotDavidTennant · 27/04/2019 00:57

With a bit of Googling I found the source of the rumours that Captain Marvel was cut. A thread on Reddit that is not at all total bollocks.

Lovejoyfull · 27/04/2019 01:04

A little underwhelmed. A good ending but a few plot holes I mean surely Nebula would have given Hawkeye and Widow a heads up as to what to expect and no human can wield an infinity stone as we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy but I guess they are minor quibbles but I did think it weird that Hulk doesn’t fight and Captain Marvels role felt disjointed, Hulk didn’t actually fight and had to be rescued lastly Cap A’s ending didn’t really make sense, did no one miss him in their timeline and as for Cap A learning to use his new power so easily when the other character whose power it actually was had only just learned to use it in his last film was a bit silly? Enjoyable but just don’t think too hard!

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2019 04:57

I suppose the alternative to CM being cut is that they planned it that way which seems a bit of a fail - the scenes were a bit clunky as per a pp. not sure how much that would be made public?

I would have liked the pager scene included I think as her arrival was a bit odd.

How could captain America be in the first films if he went back to be with his wife still confused

RJnomore1 · 27/04/2019 07:24

It’s a big pile of pants. Very disappointed. Some touching moments but no plot sense. Thanks to this thread though I do at least get shy dr strange gave away the stone last film - he knew tony had to live to get to that point.

Biggest issue I have: Thanos was only invincible last time because he had the stone gauntlet so why the blazes could all of them suddenly not kill him when he was just Thanos? Just in case I’m missing something major.

barbiegrl · 27/04/2019 07:27

After sobbing my heart out when iron man dies,I totally laughed out loud when they did the funeral and they zoomed in on the "proof that tony stark had a heart" I was the only one in the whole cinema to do so.
I loved the women of marvel show of force-girl power or what?
The depressed Thor played well with me, I agree with pp that it showed his "human" side

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/04/2019 07:32

In the trailer she appears and says "where's Nick Fury?" I wish we'd seen that. I don't think her arrival was explained properly

That scene is in the end credits of Captain Marvel - here

Iggly · 27/04/2019 08:00

Thanos is pretty unstoppable before he had the gauntlet - which is what made him even more scary with them all.

He couldn’t be easily defeated because Thor was out of shape, Hulk wasn’t a fighter anymore and Captain Marvel was elsewhere for a lot of the time. They were the only ones who’d really stand a chance against him.

Iggly · 27/04/2019 08:01

That scene is in the end credits of Captain Marvel

Yes but it still felt jarring that she just turns up to save iron man. Seemed a bit Hmm

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2019 08:07

I just read an article that says that Peppa was tracking IM and so when CM turns up she can get the coordinates from Peppa and go save him.

That makes sense. But there was no reference in the film so to go from thinking he’d run out of oxygen (I knew that wouldn’t happen) to being saved was a bit quick!

TheFatberg · 27/04/2019 08:31

I liked how Durham Cathedral was in it as Asgard in the scenes with Thor, Rocket and Thor's mum.

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2019 08:47

I agree Iggly when we saw CM I was really excited that she would arrive and say 'where is he?' and that would be the start of Endgame.

I'm sure there must be something in the cut scenes theory. Maybe a few scenes were shot to fit with different versions depending on CM feedback and we got the one with everyone referencing her being off somewhere else?

Just remembered Steve reflecting on his life with Peggy

Sam: "How was it?"
CM: "Beautiful."

Flowers

Also LOVED the part where courageous Cap tightens his broken shield and it's just him vs Thanos' massive army (until our guys appear from the portals). It's full circle to 'little' brave Steve Rogers standing tall to big bullies.

I couldn't have coped if Steve or Tony or any of them had been killed by Thanos in one on one combat. Cap looked dreadful after his fight with Thanos and I was on the edge of my seat preying that he wouldn't go down that way.

But then that tightening of the shield....

HandsOffMyRights · 27/04/2019 08:50

*Sorry CA not CM!

Iggly · 27/04/2019 09:28

Exactly!

I loved CM the film. It was brilliant. Such a wasted opportunity to bring her into Endgame - it jars even more since watching it! She has awesome powers, but they weren’t overdone in Endgame although could have been.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 27/04/2019 13:11

Event - I remembered your post when watching it!!

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2019 14:14

@EventNotInData I remember that! Good call

Yes to the Cap alone part. I thought that might be when he died.

I didn't really like him going back to Peggy. Although another article I've read suggests it was always to be - he'd read about her having an unnamed husband in one of the films.
