Booked to see it tomorrow and v excited!

I think we need a thread to discuss it in.

So I'm starting one now.

I reckon Iron Man retires, Cap dies 😢, Hulk and Thor survive and that they return to the point where Starlord almost has it and get him to take the stone.

Gamorra must come back and I think Loki might.

I really think they should have split this into 2 2 hour films instead of giving everyone bum ache over 3 hours.
They didn't have to try and cram everything into one film.
By spreading it out over 2 films they could easily have tied up all the loose ends/references from other films, as well as defeat Thanos.
It felt to me that, if they wanted just one film, they should have made it tighter.

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 00:50

But it was over 2 films infinity war was pt1

jessicawessica · 26/04/2019 00:55

Ok so 3 films then.

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 01:00

I think a half hour off it would have done

SouthWestmom · 26/04/2019 01:40

Mmrsjay i read that as a half hour would have done! Even I would have wanted more than that 😂
Cassandra oh I might read some reviews elsewhere, thank you

Why did Cap Am give his shield to Falcon and not Bucky? Apparently that happens in the comics - Falcon becomes Captain America for a time -so a nod to the fans of the original comics there.

I thought only Thor could use his hammer? DS reminded me that in one of the earlier Avengers films, they are all trying to lift the hammer and when Steve Rogers touches it, it shivers a little and Thor looks really worried for a moment. The hammer can only be lifted by one who is worthy, so it confirms his status.

What happened to Loki? Some are suggesting that the scene where one version of Loki steals the tesseract and vanishes is the loophole to allow him to still exist after Thanos's killing him in Infinity War (there's a Loki TV series being made). Similar to the way one version of Gamora (the version that loves Peter Quill) has been killed by Thanos but we now have Gamora-from-the-past in the present day.

CarolDanvers · 26/04/2019 07:02

The time heist was THE BEST. We got to see Loki and some more of eye rolling and mischief, Cap fighting himself; the look on his face when he realised he was going to have to Grin, Tony meeting his Dad, the lift scene which I thought was going to be a reworking of the lift fight from The Winter Soldier.

Tony’s face when he saw Peter, when Captain Marvel turned up and we as an audience knew that somehow everything was going to be ok, everyone coming back at the end.

I keep crying when I think about Pepper telling Tony he could rest now. Sure a pure love moment like she knew all along that this was the only way it could end for her and Tony Sad. I cried when Hawkeye’s family disappeared at the beginning and barely stopped from then.

I thought it was perfect and can’t wait to see it again.

CarolDanvers · 26/04/2019 07:06

it was nice to see the young boy who helped Iron Man in IM3 there too (young boy stood on his own).

Oh I wondered who this was and now I am crying again!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/04/2019 07:12

One of my favourite moments is a really odd one - during the battle when Thanos has the gauntlet on and it looks as if it's all over, you see Tony exchange glances with Dr. Strange and the latter just raises one finger (a reminder of the only one, in over fourteen billion possible outcomes that Strange foresaw, where the team wins) and we realise that Strange must have foreseen Tony's death and realised that this would be the price to pay for saving the world. And then Tony snatches the infinity stones from Thanos's gauntlet and transfers them to his - "I'm Iron Man" 😭😭😭

PunkRockHippy · 26/04/2019 07:18

Why did Cap Am give his shield to Falcon and not Bucky?
In the comics both Bucky and Sam have become Captain America at various points I believe. I can see why Sam/Falcon would be the preferred choice for a modern MCU audience. I believe there’s going to be a Falcon & Winter Soldier tv series that will probably pick up from the side of the lake, I guess.

I thought only Thor could use his hammer?
It’s the whole ‘worthy’ thing. You can wield it if you are ‘worthy’ and it will give you the power of Thor. Again lots of other characters have lifted it in the comics (including Jane Foster who became a female Thor). In the films, Vision picked it up and handed it to Thor during Age of Ultron which helped convince everyone Vision was a goodie. When Cap tried to lift it, it wobbled slightly. Hence the whole “I knew it!” and triumphant whooping of that moment in the cinema. Big fan payoff moment!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/04/2019 07:23

Where is Thor's hammer now?

When Cap leaves to return the stones to their rightful places, he has the hammer with him but when old Cap comes back, he only has the shield. Did he return the hammer to Asgard too as well as the aether?

CarolDanvers · 26/04/2019 07:25

Also liked the bit where The Ancient One let hulk take the stone because she knew immediately that if Dr Strange had given it up then he knew what he was doing. I wish we’d have a bit more Nick Fury, he is and will always be my number one.

PunkRockHippy · 26/04/2019 07:27

Did he return the hammer to Asgard too as well as the aether?
I think that’s the implication, otherwise Asgard would have fallen. Thor needed it then.

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 09:06

Maybe Steve (Cap gets on my wick) gave the hammer to valkerie at some point?

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 09:09

I would have loved more Nick even if he had said something at the funeral I mean he actually esembled the Avengers he should have said something!

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2019 10:41

Bloody hell Assembled obvs

Iggly · 26/04/2019 14:45

I wish they’d introduced captain marvel properly in the film. Must have been a cut scene as it was kind of in the trailers?? That did annoy me.

I liked Thor being out of shape as it meant it wasn’t that straight forward. He and Marvel would have destroyed thanos if in top form. There should have been more Thor and Marcel action

SouthWestmom · 26/04/2019 14:50

Dd says that Bree Larson scenes were cut based on feedback from the first film and also her like ability factor.

Lots of references in the films to her not being there much (retakes?)

CassandraCross · 26/04/2019 15:40

What I've read is that fans of MCU absolutely did not want Captain Marvel to swan in and save the day so I am guessing that may explain it.

PunkRockHippy · 26/04/2019 16:00

I did enjoy when Cap asked her where she was going, and she was all casual ‘to kill Thanos’

Notcoolmum · 26/04/2019 16:12

I liked Thor in this. Yes it was played for laughs but I think it showed his humanity (irony?) and I found the scenes with his mum really touching.

Same for the Tony and his dad scenes.

Iggly · 26/04/2019 16:27

That’s a shame re captain marvel because we liked her! It seemed a bit odd and fleeting, clunky almost

I thought Thor was brilliant but my head was all confused - he took the hammer with him from the past - wouldn’t the past Thor need it. Also past nebula didn’t die when future nebula shot her!? The whole sister thing was glossed over a bit too much

I did hope that Thor would take Thanos out by taking his head off 😂

And I had hoped that Thanos went back in time and that it would somehow explain how he managed to get the gauntlet made etc. Basically I wanted a time loop in the film.

Can’t have it all!

BarbedBloom · 26/04/2019 16:38

I loved a lot of moments already mentioned but I was really happy they finally showed how powerful Wanda (Scarlet Witch) actually is. It was hinted last time when she held him off with four stones, but good to see her get her moment.

Also glad Gamora is back in some form even if it is a bit frustrating that it will reset her relationship with the others

I liked seeing how traumatised Thor was and how he dealt with his failure to stop the snap. And the little moment Rocket and Nebula held hands

BarbedBloom · 26/04/2019 16:40

@Iggly. The hammer was returned by Cap at the moment it was taken, same as the infinity stones, so he wouldn't have noticed it being gone. Hard to explain but going into the past to change the present makes the past the future, so Nebula still exists in the past. I think...

RedForShort · 26/04/2019 16:41

Just out of it. Time travel confuses the living daylights out of me!!

I shall come back once I've wrapped My head around it all. Did enjoy it (also enjoyed all the emotions the young man sitting next to me went through - he was very expressive!!)
