The twilight movies had some pretty dodgy acting.

iceycage · 06/03/2018 09:41

Although I loved the film I thought zendaya was a bit rubbish in the greatest showman.

KellyBailey · 06/03/2018 19:45

Amanda Seyfried ditto, she just goggles her eyes

She was brilliant as a teen bimbo in Mean Girls though.

"Oh my god Karen, you can't just ask people why they're white" Grin

I liked Diaz in Bad Teacher and In her Shoes. She was the only thing not creepy in that Stockholm syndrome, stalker fest Knight and Day (with Tom cruise, who surprise, surprise was the creepy stalker)

I liked Seyfried in Dear John, she sings very well... and her own tune too.

I sometimes watch the first twilight movie for a guilty pleasure. It’s pride and prejudice with vamps! I don’t watch the rest of them as the wigs and white make up are just too hilarious.

That reminds me that Michael Sheen is awful in everything. He runs the gamut of emotion from A to B where B means he’s bug eyed and greasy looking and A means he’s slack jawed and asleep. He ruined far from the madding crowd. Don’t get me started on his awful fake teeth: so anachronistic.

DeNiro is wonderful in The Family, with Michelle Pfeiffer... it’s worth a watch @wobbleslikeaweeble

LidoDeck · 08/03/2018 00:28

Madonna in The Next Best Thing. Oh my GOD it's so bad. So. Bad.

Hotdoggity · 08/03/2018 00:36

What is it about Kiera? I feel like she’s judging everyone even if that’s not her role. Too superior. And YY yo Russell Crow in Les Mis. What were they thinking?!

MistressDeeCee · 08/03/2018 01:24

Anything with Keanu Reeves. Great to look at . All the animation of a wardrobe.

Vin Diesel. I know his films aren't meant to be taken seriously but his 'acting' is jaw dropping. I'm surprised he doesn't have termites. I end up watching parts of his films just to marvel at it. I'm convinced one day he'll turn to stone mid-step.

Daniel Radcliffe - master of the anti-climax, ruiner of suspenseful moments. Cant act at all. I do wonder how he got into the profession, he must have friends in high places.

Jennifer Aniston. Ok in Friends I suppose but as a standalone actress - just, no. There's something empty and non-memorable about her so-called acting

Idris Elba. Same character in every role he plays. I can't finish watching anything he's in, a great wave of tiredness tends to wash over me then that's it.

Aside from that there's a really annoying rabbit jumping around at the bottom of this page. Probably an actor.

deckchaironthebeach · 10/03/2018 16:19

Have you seen her in Personal Shopper or The Clouds of Sils Maria?

Lifeonrepeat · 17/03/2018 20:46

Benedict Cumberbatch in anything. I just can't get why he is so popular.

myusernameisbob · 17/03/2018 20:59

Matthew MacFadyen - so wooden and such a shame as his voice is delicious.

Tiptopj · 17/03/2018 20:59

Adrian brody playing a mafia don/ pretending to be Marlon Brando in the last season of peaky blinders. It very nearly ruined the season for me. And I agree with Russell crow in les mis, his singing is almost monotone and ruined some of the best songs.

haverhill · 17/03/2018 21:02

To be fair Daniel Radcliffe was heartbreaking in David Copperfield as a nipper.
Like so many others, Andie McDowell in Four Weddings. “I guess I could skulk if skulking were required” Bleurrgh!

3littlerabbits · 17/03/2018 21:08

No one has said Jennifer Aniston? I love her but terrible in films

JaneEyre70 · 17/03/2018 21:11

Jennifer Aniston. Keira Knightley. Gwyneth Paltrow. Nicole Kidman.

How they've had careers and made millions is totally beyond me.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 17/03/2018 21:18

I love me some Harry Potter so I have to defend the main 3. Emma is a bit precocious but that is how Hermione was written. Daniel is bad in the first film but gets progressively better. And i love Rupert as Ron. I'll agree that the weasley twins were awful though.

Regardless, the adult cast are mostly superb, which more than makes up for the kids. Rickman was the perfect Snape, for example.

whoareyoukidding · 17/03/2018 21:20

Claire Danes in anything she's ever done. Her facial expression is always the same: puzzled and a bit pissed off - all the time, no matter what part she's playing. My DH disagrees btw.

letsgomaths · 17/03/2018 21:47

Also in Harry Potter: Voldemort? As the main villain of the whole series, he seems very low key and softly spoken, very different from Bellatrix for instance. Is this deliberate?

This is fascinating because I don't think I'm that good at telling the difference between good and bad acting; some of the comments on the internet about shit actors surprise me, but perhaps I just don't read people very well, and I'd probably be a shit actor myself. It seems child actors come off worse, which is understandable. I'm watching a lot of Grange Hill on YouTube, and many of the comments say things like "oh well, the director had to make do with the actors they had". Hardly the same as film acting with huge budgets, but still.

Take Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Which of the children are well acted? I thought Enoch (moody and dour) was believeable, but Emma (blonde and levitating) sounded quite forced, and so did Miss Peregrine herself, as if she was reciting her lines. Or are they deliberately sounding like that because they're actually much older people in younger bodies, being in a time loop? (Judi Dench is also in the film, indeed sounding like every other role she plays.)

fluffiphlox · 17/03/2018 21:49

Anything with Russell Crowe.

Aworldofmyown · 17/03/2018 21:51

Cara Delivigne in Suicide Squad. Just awful.

Dustysparrow · 17/03/2018 22:00

Not films but tv - Sarah Parish. Not convincing in anything. You can almost see the strings.

Ruffian · 17/03/2018 23:29

Sean Penn in anything but especially Milk - such an obvious ego trip I didn't forget for one second that I was watching a performance, not a story.

necromumda · 25/08/2018 17:11

Daisy Ridley . In the second movie though, she was ok in the first. The bad acting ruined the second one for me, Rey was just so badly acted.

headinhands · 25/08/2018 18:14

Emma Watson. She's horrendous in Potter but then most child actors are dreadful

anyoldname76 · 25/08/2018 18:19

chris hemsworths accent in the 1st snow white film was awful, was slightly better in the 2nd film but not much

Sgtmajormummy · 25/08/2018 18:34
