OP posts:

Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge and Natalie Portman in one of the Star Wars films.

FeedtheTree · 07/02/2018 18:40

Keira Knightley in that horrific film about Karl Jung sleeping with one of his damaged patients. Although maybe she was just treating it with the contempt it deserved.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 07/02/2018 18:42

Andie McDowell in everything - she's tainted much loved films from St Elmo's Fire onwards!

overnightangel · 07/02/2018 18:48

“Nicolas Cage in The Wicker Man is SO bad.”

My first thought!
“Not the beeeeeeess!!!”

Yy to knightly and Smith.... loved the first 4 Harry Potter books, first film came out and ruined it. Not even read the rest. II know they’re only kids but ffs so bad.
Radcliffe has improved a lot since then.
I pretty much find Kate Winslet unwatchable in anything, likewise Jonny Depp as he just turns everything into an exaggerated version of himself (ie someone who sees himself as ‘quirky’ but is in fact a smug arsehole).
Overall my vote goes to Depp as Willy Wonka, just..... horrendously bad

fruityb · 07/02/2018 18:51

“The bees!!! They’re in my eyes!!!”

YesItsADebate · 07/02/2018 19:00

Gwyneth Paltrow in Emma. Her performance was cringeworthy.

JeffsNewAngle · 07/02/2018 19:13

Nicholas cage is good in moonlighting? with Cher (another story) Nicholas still has his original wonky teeth as well, and some of his own hair in that. It’s an early one and.I think his head hasn’t been turned by his “superstar Hollywood leading man status” as yet. Worth a look.

Kiera knightly is ok in the welsh poet one, where she’s with sienna miller. She sings in that and isnt too bad.
And she’s ok in a film about an engaged woman who takes off for a week and lives on someone’s sofa. Sam Rockwell is in that too.
And I think she’s ok in a film about some musician in new York who breaks up with her fiancé. She sings in this one too, and isn’t too teethy.

Keanu is ok in a few Ive seen. He’s better when he plays a man of few words and plenty of internal torment.... with nice lighting and camera angles.
49ronin and John wick is good... don’t bother with John wick2 though. It’s a badly lit turd. I think Alice cooper is in it as some gangster, could be mistaken... they have the same veneers.

Anything that requires a human with dialogue and keanu’s a dead duck. Sorry Keanu!

JeffsNewAngle · 07/02/2018 19:16

I liked Kiera in that spankfest, feedthetree.
She wasn’t on screen for too long, and we had plenty of Viggo and Fassbender (Freudian phnar) to keep us entertained!

CoolCarrie · 07/02/2018 19:21

Keanu, just has to be! he isn’t a good actor, but he is beautiful and seems kind, down to earth and lovely, never read a bad word about him.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 07/02/2018 21:04

Already been said but..

Nicholas Cage in Wickerman.. Just wow!

Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter.. Especially later on when he was meant to be acting angry..

Bloke from the Star Wars prequels. The script probably didn't help but his dodgy woodenness also didn't

Kristen Stewart.. Again.. Alwful films though

McTufty · 07/02/2018 21:09

Can we include musical films? Because Russell Crowe and Amanda seyfried in Les Miserables if so.

BabloHoney · 07/02/2018 21:11

Anthony Hopkins in Hannibal.. he’s absolutely brilliant in Silence of the Lambs, totally hams it up in Hannibal, worst overacting ever.

Also agree with Nicholas Cage in the Wicker Man. Nicholas Cage in everything really. AND Harrison Ford in the Fugitive?! Loved that film when it first came out, rewatched it recently, can’t believe I never noticed how bad he is in it 🙈

overnightangel · 07/02/2018 21:18

Keanu is exempt because of Bill and Ted!
Kristen Stewart however is most heinous bithcas a human being and an actor (google the porn she wrote for a magazine interview)

overnightangel · 07/02/2018 21:19

Most heinous both as should have said!

LadyGAgain · 07/02/2018 21:24

Anything with Kiera Knightly. She's appalling.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 07/02/2018 21:27

Sylvester Stallone in anything, and yes it does. Tango and Cash is on right now.

Steamcloud · 07/02/2018 21:42

I'm so glad Nicholas Cage is mentioned on here quite a bit. He is a prime example of nepotism being alive and well in Hollywood as I think he is a Coppola isn't he?

Agree Gynneth Paltrow is wooden in pretty much everything!

And Andi McDowell is a pretty poor actress but I think she is so lovely that I can forgive the poor performances.

I've found Kate Winslett to be fairly accomplished in pretty much everything I've seen her in.

I dont find Julia Sawalha convincing in anything (except maybe Ab Fab) and her performance totally ruined the BBCs adaptation of Pride and Prejudice for me. She was a terrible Lydia! Mind you, I thought Alison Steadman's portrayal of Mrs Bennett was totally overblown too.

Can't stand Vanessa Redgrave in anything even though she is lauded as a great actress! But haven't seen her on stage so maybe that's why.

Michael Caine in everything.

OldGuard · 07/02/2018 22:01

The guy who played Anikan Skywalker in Starwars - completely unbelievable love story and the crapiest acting of all time

lastnamefirstfirstnamelast · 07/02/2018 22:09

Keira knightley yep
Mena suvari in American pie
Ben affleck in most apart from the accountant, he was great at a serious role!

Funkyhouse · 07/02/2018 22:20

I’m surprised at some of these but I have always thought Judi Dench and Helen Mirren were overrated and I don’t like any of Meryl Streep’s films.

saladdays66 · 07/02/2018 23:32

What? Judi dench and Helen Mirren are fab!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/02/2018 23:35

Ha funky just came to say probably unpopular but Meryl Streep in anything. Always the bloody same.

LaContessaDiPlump · 07/02/2018 23:38

I thought Julia Sawalha was an outstanding Lydia, and Gwyneth a great Emma tedious and self-absorbed

I agree re Anakin Skywalker; he's utterly dire. And I've never been impressed by Keira Knightley either.... or the guy who plays Dante in Clerks. Sorry Dante.
