I have to say, I wish I'd never watched The Shining (at a sleepover when I was 14). It scared the pants off me!

Anyone else?

Strawdogs. With my parents at about 13. In the cinema. I don't think they knew what it was about but once they were there they were too embarrassed to leave (?) I was just bored Confused

7kidspaid4 · 10/09/2016 22:55

A letter to Zachary. honestly the saddest thing i have ever watched. It made Sophie's choice seem like a cake walk. Has anyone else seen this or am I the only one stupid enough to put myself through that?

Felascloak · 10/09/2016 22:56

Snakes on a plane. Fucking shit.

spanky2 · 10/09/2016 22:59

Every time I go to the toilet on a plane I always think about that shagging couple being bitten in the privates!

RubbishMantra · 10/09/2016 23:01

QueenLiz, I'd read the book Precious. Just watched the film thanks to you.

Precious endures far more shit in the book, eg her obese, smelly mother forcing her to eat huge amounts of food, and also sexually abusing her.

Ms Rain was diferrent than I expected, in the book she has dreads, and encourages Precious to celebrate her heritage.

But I didn't find it bleak. Sad, unfair, and horrible in parts. But Precious rose above it, and she battled on. A true heroine, that girl had guts, she refused to give into the welfare system, and like the book is called, pushed.

RubbishMantra · 10/09/2016 23:08

Oh, and the one that makes me want to bleach my brain is "A Serbian Film"

Also "Begotten".

"Eraserhead", sort of.

Ooh, I came on to say Eden Lake and am delighted that hardened horror fans agree and that I wasn't being too pathetic. I watched that and El Orfanato in the same week and haven't been able to watch a scary movie since. 9 years!!!! It's now me and DH's go-to reference when we go somewhere not so naice....

I think it was that just as you relax....

I met Mark Kermode once and asked if I was a complete wuss. He told me that I wasn't and that it was a nasty film and I felt absolved. Much better after that!

Clairemckenna79 · 10/09/2016 23:16

Eden Lake - horrific, British, camping movie, couldn't sleep for weeks...Shock

CheshireSplat · 10/09/2016 23:27

Found this online for those who like to be scared www.theguardian.com/film/series/the-film-that-frightened-me-most

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/09/2016 23:28

Wolf Creek.

I will NEVER visit rural Australia ever, just because of this film.

MamaBolt · 10/09/2016 23:29

Irreversible. Though it is brilliant, don't.

Half of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Blodplod · 10/09/2016 23:32

I'm with Errolthedragon (are you my twin?).. Worse film ever was se7en.. Had terrifying nightmares for months (read, years actually) about that one..

ladybird69 · 10/09/2016 23:39

If think it's called Oldboy. Ewwwww!! Can't believe it got such a high IMDb score.

ladybird69 · 10/09/2016 23:52

Worst film ever was Funny people! We actually walked out of the cinema it was that bad, wasn't funny, should have demanded a refund as we were mis sold, thought it would be actually funny! Awful awful film.

Gemzb85 · 11/09/2016 01:27

I watched something called last house on the left and had the most discusting rape scenes we turned it off and I was nearly physically sick and me and my dp were in shock for days after.
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. May be great to some people but just confused me and I didn't understand the opening scene was worth watching the whole film for though.

Under The Skin ... that scene on the beach still haunts me. I couldn't watch further than that and have been too chicken to read the book.

dorisdog · 11/09/2016 13:26

'28 Days Later' gave me a near nervous breakdown. I wasn't prepared for fast running zombies. (I guess it's now pretty tame!)

dorisdog · 11/09/2016 13:28

Oh god, yeah. Last House on the Left. Truly appalling rape scenes that I still think about 25 years on :-/

StrangeLookingParasite · 11/09/2016 14:45

I don't ever watch horror movies; not only are they not my thing, I don't even see the point of them. I accidentally saw 12 monkeys, and that was enough for me.
Shit movies - loody Mamma Mia, god what crap.

Pashazade · 11/09/2016 15:27

Meet the Feebles the most disturbing film involving puppets you are ever likely to watch. (It's by Joss Whedon too!)
