I've just watched Before Sunrise & Before Sunset. Both highly rated and well regarded. I didn't enjoy either of them, especially Before Sunset. It was basically two quite uninteresting characters talking to each other for the duration of the film, and I didn't even like the characters either!

Tell me some of the highly rated / regarded films that you think are crap?

Yes to Titanic! People get very shirty when I say I don't like it.

Also Breakfast At Tiffanys, I just didn't get the hype at all.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2016 16:28

AI
Sideways
Eternal Sunshine
Lost In Translation

Breaking Bad too if we're doing telly.

As a lifelong Les Mis fan, I can't forgive the casting of the film.

Oh God, I'd forgotten about The Shawshank Redemption! So DULL. So over-rated.

Sleepingonthebus · 11/01/2016 16:36

None of the Star Wars films. I remember sitting in the cinema counting the lights on the floor instead.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/01/2016 16:37

Yes to Titanic. Only decent thing about it was Billy Zane.

Melancholia
Up
Finding Nemo
Pulp Fiction

KathyBeale · 11/01/2016 16:38

You're all weirdos. Shawshank is brilliant.

I don't like Gladiator. I think it's rubbish. Also Lord of the Rings (all of them), and generally (Shawshank excepted) any film over 90 minutes long. Two hours at an absolute push. If you can't tell a story in two hours, don't tell it at all.

Hobbitwife001 · 11/01/2016 16:39

Another vote for Birdman here, didn't even get half way through, absolute tosh!...

Ditto Inception, < wtf? > lost me in the first ten minutes....

OnlyLovers · 11/01/2016 16:41

Sorry but I stand by it –Shawshank is dullsville.

And yes, Inception – well, most of his films actually. Ponderous dick-swinging ego trips.

Roomba · 11/01/2016 16:42

Before Sunrise & Sunset were deathly dull, but Waking Life (same director) was dreadful.

It was my ex's favourite film and he insisted on me watching it. It was so boring I fell asleep after ten minutes. So he made me try to watch it again... and I dozed off again. It took seven attempts for me to make it all the way to the end, so insistent was he that it was the best film ever Hmm.

He wasn't happy afterwards when I said I still maintained it was shit Grin

Silver linings playbook or whatever its called.

Am I the only one who finds Jennifer Lawrence wooden? I can't understand why she keeps on winning awards

JenEric · 11/01/2016 17:00

Dirty Dancing. Dull as fuck. Never got to the end. Boring.

Inception! Memento! Arrrrrrgggghhhh to both of them.

On the Table of the Overrated, Chris Nolan sits at the head. I'd rather have a smear test then watch any of his Batman films.

chemenger · 11/01/2016 17:14

I have never wanted anything in the cinema as much as I wanted the tiger to eat the boy in Life of Pi, so that the film would end. I love Shawshank, however, and I quite enjoyed Birdman. I saw Grease for the first time last night and I'm pretty sure I'll never bother with it again. When it came out the queue was too long at the cinema so we went to Annie Hall instead, now I know we made the right decision.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 11/01/2016 17:19

The new Star Wars

LittleCandle · 11/01/2016 17:21

Saving Private Ryan. I was dragged to it as an anniversary 'present'. XH loved war films. I really didn't care if they save Private Ryan or not.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 11/01/2016 17:23

Agree with PPs who said Avatar - what utter balls that film was. If you want trite shit like that, but only shorter and with singing, watch bloody Pocahontas.

Love Actually. Saccharine wank.

Most Marvel films (with the exception of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Ant Man). Slick, sterile and utterly without charm. DH and DS1 are obsessed though.

Any of the Fast & Furious films. Just DON'T.

Marzipants · 11/01/2016 17:26

Shock at the PP who put Dirty Dancing.

Mulholland Drive is a streaming turd of a movie. And about 50% of Twin Peaks is shit too.

fitforflighting · 11/01/2016 17:29

Gawd yes to Gravity

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 11/01/2016 17:39

Dirty Dancing. Dull as fuck. Never got to the end. Boring

O.M.G

you are entitles to having an opinion, but that's WRONG

ErgonomicallyUnsound · 11/01/2016 17:41

ROFL. Inception is in my top 10 films ever Grin

iklboo · 11/01/2016 17:45

Rosemary's Baby. Tedious.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 11/01/2016 17:54

And The Matrix can fuck itself too, using a 360 degree camera shot.

Aramynta · 11/01/2016 18:00

Withnail and I. Although not as fucking boring as Nepoleon Dynamite. Over-hyped cuntfest, that was.
