  1. Annie

Worst ever IMO. Utterly charmless compared to the original. Totally pointless as well.

The original is so lovely, charming, with amazing stars.

Alfie

The 60's film was making a statement on class and women's rights issues it was a film of it's time. Funny and tragic, showed conditions many working class lived in, the dangers of back street abortion, treatment if those with mental health issues and the impact of the rapid changes on society. The remake had none of that just a cheeky chappie being a bit naughty and getting caught out Hmm

The Fountain.

Just... Pointless. Pointlessly rubbish. I'll never get those hours of my life back. Even Hugh Jackman didn't redeem it.

SacredHeart · 01/09/2015 16:30

Preemptive - the craft.

LEAVE IT ALONE HOLLYWOOD!!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 01/09/2015 16:30

I am still scarred by the first Annie to contemplate watching the second

PennyPants · 01/09/2015 16:33

Charlie and the chocolate factory. Much prefered the origonal especially Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka

LBOCS2 · 01/09/2015 16:35

I should read thread titles properly. Remake. Not just film.

I second Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was very 'Depp'ed. Didn't love it at all.

TheRadiantAerynSun · 01/09/2015 16:57

Carrie

The original Carrie was perfect. What was the point of a remake?

doodlyfiddly · 01/09/2015 16:58

The Stepford Wives with Nicole Kidman - WTF??!!

werewolfinladderedtights · 01/09/2015 17:02

I'll second Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I love Johnny Depp and so wanted to like it. But it was just wrong.
I'm just glad no one has tried to remake Bugsy Malone.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/09/2015 17:06

Carrie. The original is definitely the best out the 3. The second one is just awful. The latest one is ok but no where near as good as original

TrionicLettuce · 01/09/2015 17:07

The Fog and The Thing (a remake of a remake as technically the 1982 version was a remake itself). John Carpenter films really should be left well alone. Admittedly the remake of Assault on Precinct 13 was actually ok but not worth massacring the other two. I won't even be watching the new Big Trouble in Little China, it can't possibly be anything other than a total abomination.

Dawn of the Dead. Original was great, the new one is terrible.

Poltergeist. I shall forever be bitter than we missed yet another opportunity to go see Mad Max to watch the new one. The trailers made it look ok. They lied.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/09/2015 17:08

wasn't the thing actually really a prequel?

finished with the dog just as the other one started

smoothieooo · 01/09/2015 17:09

I second Annie. I had a rare child-free evening at the weekend and watched it. I will never get that time back. I actually cringed when Cameron Diaz was singing and I love her!

Total Recall is another (I loved the Arnie original but the remake with Colin Farrell was pants).

TittyBiskwits · 01/09/2015 17:13

Do remakes of TV series into films count?

For example, Bewitched starring Nicole Kidman. High concept twaddle.

The Dukes of Hazzard. All the charm of the TV series gone in a flash.

Remakes into films:
Robocop
The Karate Kid
Arthur.

All awful but there is a special place in hell reserved for everyone involved in the remake of Arthur.

TittyBiskwits · 01/09/2015 17:14

And oh my god, YY to Poltergeist. Remake was utter, utter shite.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/09/2015 17:16

Oh don't say that re poltergeist Sad

I watched that as a kid and loved it. was excited there was a re make....

AtiaoftheJulii · 01/09/2015 17:17

The Vanishing.

rookiemere · 01/09/2015 17:20

The Great Gatsby

TittyBiskwits · 01/09/2015 17:20

Planet of the Apes.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 01/09/2015 17:21

yy remake of Stepford Wives was utter rubbish

Shall also add to the list The Karate Kid and the worse offender Psycho

SummoningDark · 01/09/2015 17:22

Exactly what TrionicLettuce wrote, please stop fucking with Carpenter!

ginghamcricketbox · 01/09/2015 17:27

The Wicker Man
Planet Of The Apes.

DotForShort · 01/09/2015 17:28

Brideshead Revisited. The film version (2008? 2009?) is an abomination, especially as the original TV adaptation was perfection.

LineyReborn · 01/09/2015 17:29

Oh God yes Wicker Man with Nicholas Cage. Just fuck off.
