  1. Annie

Worst ever IMO. Utterly charmless compared to the original. Totally pointless as well.

The original is so lovely, charming, with amazing stars.

Op which Annie remake, there has been two?

iamaboveandBeyond · 01/09/2015 17:36

I actually enjoyed the wicker man Blush

Happy to have not seen most of these. Agree with poltergeist though, watched it a few weeks ago. Also somewhat weird that the renamed carolanne as "maddie" Shock

elvisthehamster · 01/09/2015 17:41

Oh yes Annie-I loved the first one as a child...was so dissapointed with the new one -and agree about Cameron Diaz, I like her but she made me cringe in this!

seagreengirl · 01/09/2015 17:42

Far from the Madding Crowd, bitty and awful.
The Wicker man, abominable.
The Lady Killers, why?

I haven't seen The Fog or The Thing, and don't intend too. Please never remake Jaws!!

Jasonandyawegunorts · 01/09/2015 17:44

I wouldn't say it's the worst but "fright night" was pretty bad.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/09/2015 17:47

Point Break.

Any remake would be [and was reportedly] so bad I didn't even contemplate seeing it.

No one could ever replace Patrick and Keanu.

CurrerBell · 01/09/2015 17:47

It's not out yet, but apparently a remake of Jumanji is in the works. What a terrible idea, so soon after Robin Williams's death. Sad The original film isn't even that old...

Idontseeanytimelords · 01/09/2015 17:58

All of the above apart from Planet of the apes - I've loved them so far!
Wicker Man was spectacularly awful, never have I been so glad to see a leading man die!
Am currently watching Ghostbusters with DD1, I'm not really looking forward to the remake of that.

TrionicLettuce · 01/09/2015 18:00

There's a list of remakes that are currently at least in the very early stages of development on IMDb. I can only hope some of them are canned long before they actually get anywhere near a cinema.

Some from the list:

The Crow
The Orphanage
An American Werewolf in London
The Neverending Story Shock
WarGames (DH will be upset)
Time Bandits
The Birds
Escape from New York Angry
Highlander
Little Shop of Horrors
Romancing the Stone
Short Circuit
Flight of the Navigator
Videodrome
Jumanji
Gremlins
Mortal Kombat
Logan's Run
Suspiria (no, no, no, no, NO!! The Goblin soundtrack and Dario Argento's vision MADE that film, it'll be shit with anything or by anyone else)
Hellraiser

SadSad

Idontseeanytimelords · 01/09/2015 18:08

Hasn't there already been a Hellraiser remake or is this the same one? I remember reading that Doug Bradley (pinhead) was adamant he was having nothing to so with any remake.
They should leave The Crow alone.

SueDBastards · 01/09/2015 18:09

OMG they can't remake The Crow! Brandon Lee was perfect in that Shock

TrionicLettuce · 01/09/2015 18:11

Just had a quick look and it seems to be the same film that's been in the works since 2006. Doug Bradley definitely not being in it but Clive Barker is writing it. Or at least he was at the end of 2013.

MetallicBeige · 01/09/2015 18:14

I'm waiting for them to remake The a Wizard of Oz, and I know in advance that if they do it will be shit.

BathshebaDarkstone · 01/09/2015 18:15

Psycho

MissEeerie · 01/09/2015 18:16

I'm with sacredheart I know The Craft remake hasn't actually been released yet but NO. NO I SAY.

Idontseeanytimelords · 01/09/2015 18:17

I can't imagine anyone else doing it at all! Doug Bradley was weirdly hot as Pinhead Blush
Are there no original ideas in the film industry these days?

Katniramal · 01/09/2015 18:20

The Wicker Man with Nicholas Cage left me speechless with its shit-ness. And I'm saying that as someone who loves shit films and loves Nicholas Cage (usually).

hazeyjane · 01/09/2015 18:27

There was a porn remake of Frankenstein called Frankenpenis. It starred John Wayne Bobbit and I think you can probably guess what the monster was.

It would take something quite spectacular to beat the utter shitness of this film.

Moln · 01/09/2015 18:28

Bar Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Planet of the Apes I don't think I've seen any remakes!

Though I don't see either of the two as being worse.

Mind you I share Roald Dahl's opinion of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory!!!

Jasonandyawegunorts · 01/09/2015 18:30

I take Frankenpenis and raise you "The super mario brothers Porno"

3rdSymphony · 01/09/2015 18:31

Probably not exactly what you mean, in the sense that it's more a betrayal of the source novels than previous versions, but the version of Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow brings me out in hives, and the Joe Wright Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightley is so busy trying to Bronte-ify Austen it's a mess. (And I'm not an uncritical fan of the 1990s BBC Colin Furth is a bit pudding-faced version, either, but the Joe Wright one was made by someone who appears never to have read the novel...

Honourable mention for badness also to the Wuthering Heights with Juliette Binoche as the most Parisian blonde-wigged Yorkshire woman ever,, and the Mansfield Park with hamster-faced sexpot Billie Piper as prim, timid Fanny Price.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/09/2015 18:34

hazey

not a remake but Fred got Fingered would possibly beat that

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/09/2015 18:35

freddy

hazeyjane · 01/09/2015 18:39

I don't know....

Frankenpenis is a man who was castrated by his undersexed wife. Seeking the ability to have sex once again, he has a bizarre surgery in which a large, castrated penis is sewn onto him. It works, but brings the consequences of being endangered by the oversexed, ultimate pleasure master, The Bride of Frankenpenis, who has more stamina then any man alive......

I'm not sure that is exactly how Mary Shelley envisaged it.

LadyEnglefield · 01/09/2015 18:40

Gus Van Sant's remake of Psycho. Even a glimpse of Viggo Mortensen's lovely bum couldn't redeem this crap.
