  1. Annie

Worst ever IMO. Utterly charmless compared to the original. Totally pointless as well.

The original is so lovely, charming, with amazing stars.

Lost my long massage argh!

Highlander would be an awful one to remake. I agree. The sequels were bad enough!!

I'm with the poster upthread who said about the lack of originality. Most films these days are either remakes or novel adaptations (also poor usually) I just watched 'the kids are alright' the other night. Great film. But if I remember correctly wasn't very much promoted (because of the 'controversy'? Because of the main actors being older women?)

Maybe it's an economy thing?

southeastastra · 06/09/2015 23:17

yes the wicker man also the haunting

will probably add the remake of poltergeist the list Grin can't see that being improved upon at all

definiteissues · 06/09/2015 23:31

Why would they remake jumanji and drop dead Fred. No remake could be as good as the originals!! Some films just shouldn't be touched.
I quite liked the new Annie.
Hated the new Charlie and the chocolate factory.
Hated the new stepford wives.

Baconyum · 07/09/2015 00:03

Just told my dd about jumanji her face went Shock followed by 'no they can't that films perfect!'

ijustwannadance · 07/09/2015 00:05

Freaky friday.

The day the earth stood still.

Definately Stepford wives.

Village of the damned.

Conan the barbarian.

Didn't know they were re making the craft but guess that somewhat explains little mix's music video as i doubt many of their fans would've understood the reference.

YonicScrewdriver · 07/09/2015 00:24

"Also, they can't re-make Highlander. I mean, have they never even seen it?? Do they not know?? There can be only one!"

Haha!

ijustwannadance · 07/09/2015 00:39

I tried to burn this from memory but it still hurts,
The Time Machine.

I adore the original and this was beyond dreadful. Especially samantha mumba's actingHmm. If it wasnt for memento i doubt i'd ever of forgiven guy pierce.

Also, Fame.

Mark wahlbergs planet of the apes.

Yes to Footloose.

The philadelphia experiment.

Davros · 07/09/2015 09:48

Totally agree about The Time Machine

JAPAB · 18/09/2015 22:16

Don't know if it has been mentioned but Dogpound wasn't that great. American remake of Scum.

Off topic but since The Thing films have been mentioned, the short story the original was based on has one of the best titles of any horror/scary story I think: "Who Goes There?". Another good and fitting title I can remember off the top of my head was a zombie tale which had the title "They Hunger". Just saying.

VulcanWoman · 21/09/2015 08:16

Just watched it yesterday, the film Left Behind, disgusted and sickened.

batshitlady · 24/09/2015 17:23

The Day of the Jackal, was quite embarrassing. Especially as the original had class. Bruce Willis in for Edward Fox.. WTF???

VulcanWoman · 24/09/2015 20:05

Just realised the title of this thread, thought it was worst film not worst remake.
Talking about remakes, are they still peeing about re doing Logans Run, liked the original.

PerspicaciaTick · 24/09/2015 20:18

Hairspray. Remove the weird, add John Travolta in American Tan tights and, voila, a completely shitty remake.

WhereYouLeftIt · 24/09/2015 20:45

The Day the Earth Stood Still. So, so bad.

Cape Fear. The story that reflected 50s/60s society made no sense in the 90s remake.

Alfie. Again, a story about a changing society that the remake just completely overlooked Confused.

SausageSmuggler · 28/09/2015 20:57

I heard a rumour they're planning on remaking Rocky Horror as a mini-series. No. Just...just no.

Shesinfashion · 08/10/2015 21:36

The Omen. Crap.

AFewGoodWomen · 08/10/2015 21:49

Nine Months.

Horrible, OTT and charmless remake with Hugh Grant of a funny, surprising, low key French film called 'Neuf Mois'.

Shesinfashion · 09/10/2015 22:44

Agree. 9 months was dismal.

echt · 16/10/2015 08:59

The Vanishing. Utterly, gobsmackingly horrifying in the original Belgian in '88 and soo fucked up with Keifer Sutherland in '93.

On the other hand, "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" worked well both time.

GriefLeavesItsMark · 18/10/2015 16:36

Breathless remake with Richard Here was pretty shit.
