  1. Annie

Worst ever IMO. Utterly charmless compared to the original. Totally pointless as well.

The original is so lovely, charming, with amazing stars.

OP posts:

I am horrified that there is going to be a remake of the craft and an American werewolf in London!

Aren't there any new stories they can uses??

BuckyLastard · 01/09/2015 18:44

Hairspray.

xenu1 · 01/09/2015 18:52

There's a "Ghostbusters" remake bubbling away too...

Jackiebrambles · 01/09/2015 18:53

Yes and the Ghostbusters are women I think? That's one I want to see!

hazeyjane · 01/09/2015 18:57

The Ghostbusters film looks good-it has loads of the original cast, Dan Ackroyd is one of the writers and is starring the fab Kristen Wiig.

(oh and knowing how popular Chris Hemsworth is on MN, should probably mention he is in it too!)

Want2bSupermum · 01/09/2015 18:59

I opened this thread thinking 'Yes, Annie' and saw the OP had Annie!

DD (aged 4) did dance camp last week and the theme was Annie. All week she was singing 'Tomorrow'. I saw it was included on the 'On Demand' channel so put it on for her to watch. DD was most confused as to why Annie didn't have red hair! That was a major part of the story for her.

Agree with Cameron Diaz being awful. I guess she is trying to get every movie in before she is officially over the hill. She is one of the older actresses who is regularly in a movie.

Debinaround · 01/09/2015 19:28

Footloose. ShockAngry

Sunnymeg · 01/09/2015 19:32

The Italian Job

TheDailyWail · 01/09/2015 19:33

The avengers
And I agree about Annie. What drivel!

theluckiest · 01/09/2015 19:37

Little Shop of Horrors????!!! Why on earth would they remake that?! I am utterly appalled...

My fave horror movie is 'The Haunting' - the brilliant, slightly melodramatic 1960s b&w version. Everything is left to the imagination and it is completely terrifying.

The 1990s version was...er...not so much. It showed all the ghosts, left nothing to the imagination and was, in technical terms, a sack of shit.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 01/09/2015 19:39

Little Shop of Horrors????!!! Why on earth would they remake that?! I am utterly appalled...

Well the musical is already a remake, and the original is in the public domain, So anyone can remake the story.

There is no way CGI will match the Puppets.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 01/09/2015 19:42

Psycho. Word for word, shot for shot remake, but totally charmless.

Lovecat · 01/09/2015 19:45

City of Angels. They took my favourite film EVER (Wings of Desire) and remade it. In colour. In America. Without Bruno Ganz. Without any of the philosophical lyricism.

But with Nicholas. Fucking. Cage.

Hell is too good for the bastards involved in green-lighting that one.

The Wickerman runs a close second (Damn you Cage!! )

UterusUterusGhali · 01/09/2015 19:57

The Wicker Man.

One of the greatest films ever IMO.

The re-make is one of the worst. Eva.
"The bees! Not the bees!"

FFS. Angry

DontStopBelievin · 01/09/2015 20:09

Haven't watched the re-make of Annie as I loved the original when I was little and don't want to see if they've made a hash of it or not to taint my memories!
The absolute, most AWFUL re-make has to be Stepford Wives. Unbelievably appalling. They turned what was a perfectly great, suspense/thriller film into a load of saccharine sweet, 'everything turns out fine in the end' rubbish.
I actually saw the re-make first and thought it was OK. Then saw the original and thought how criminal it was to make such an atrocious re-make. They absolutely murdered it!

DontStopBelievin · 01/09/2015 20:18

I read somewhere they were going to re-make Drop Dead Fred. Pleasssssse don't let them re-make that, if so. Drop Dead Fred IS Rik Mayall Sad

Minniemagoo · 01/09/2015 20:24

The Karate Kid - the kid was sooooooo annoying and it was very long and drawn out!

LineyReborn · 01/09/2015 20:35

What is it with Jude Law and remakes?

LapsedPacifist · 01/09/2015 21:03

What Lovecat says!!! Shock

The most wonderful film ever - just trashed!

Can we please have a sub-section here for amazing European films that have been re-made for American audiences who can't cope with Brit accents, let alone subtitles? Just to get started:

Let the Right One In
Truly Madly Deeply
The Return of Martin Guerre

Moln · 01/09/2015 21:39

Minniemagoo I'd forgotten about The Karate Kid. Blocked it out probably.

It was bad in every way it's possibly for a film to be bad, Jaden Smith was TERRIBLE in a horrible way

BobandKate0 · 02/09/2015 12:52

Surely the first prize goes to Steve Martin's the Pink Panther ?
if we include tv remakes then sgt bilko for 2nd place.
third place - the Day of the Jackal with Bruce Willis - although i liked some bits, but not Richard Gere's Irish accent.

SquirrelledAway · 02/09/2015 13:26

Get Carter, with Sylvester Stallone.

Just ... awful.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2015 13:49

There's going to be a remake of The Amityville Horror (according to DH)

Lord of the Flies (1963) in b&w was a harrowing but charming in places film. Then along comes some remake with Balthazar Getty and it;s set in the USA with American youths Confused

And "Bad Lieutenant" with Harvey Kietel was hmmm a difficult film to sit through.
Guess who starred in the remake................Nicolas Cage.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 02/09/2015 13:55

The Karate Kid - the kid was sooooooo annoying and it was very long and drawn out!

not to mention the total lack of Karate, as Jackie Chan isn't Japanese and practises Kung Fu.

chrome100 · 02/09/2015 14:07

Apparently Roald Dahl hated the original film of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, saying it was too saccharine and he didn't like GW as Willy Wonka. I think Depp's portrayl would have been much more up his street.
