It would have to be the Conjuring for me, and I do not scare easily.
It doesn't help either that it's based on a true story.

The Omen for me. Gregory Peck was great casting and made the film very classy for me. Don't know about a rottie being the devils protecter!

I have one....

HellKitty · 26/03/2015 00:53

I must be hardcore, some of these haven't scared me at all. Ju-on we had to turn off as it was so bad. I'll have a think and come back Grin

echt · 26/03/2015 06:38

The Haunting by Robert Wise - 1963. Unnerving.

The Orphanage (Spanish) - DVD version censored. Not a new trick in it, but I jumped out of my seat several times.

The Babadook - one the few films I've seen that shows an ambivalent view of women towards their children.

HellKitty · 26/03/2015 07:18

Ok. The Innocents (1961). Scared the absolute crap out of me as a child. The wallpaper bit and the hand holding in bed bit Confused

Figwin · 27/03/2015 00:20

I can watch loads of horrors and be totally fine. The Ring, Babadook, insidious, the conjuring all that jazz no problem but put on The Witches and I channel a terrified 7 yr old from with in and can't watch. It's a PG too...

HellKitty · 29/03/2015 08:34

Sorry! I meant the original 'Haunting' not 'The Innocents'.

Er, I watched the Spanish film The Orphanage - VERY hard to watch if you're a mother Hmm

MissWimpyDimple · 29/03/2015 08:40

Wolf Creek. I was pregnant at the time and my heart rate went through the roof so I dread to think about the poor baby Confused

HellKitty · 29/03/2015 08:48

MissWimpy, we watched Wolf Creek 2!!! FAR scarier Confused

Binkybix · 31/03/2015 13:48

It's weird I'm a massive wuss but wolf creek and event horizon didn't scare me. I've refused to watch the grudge though.

The Loved Ones is a good tip for those who like scary films - unsettling.

ZingEasteryName · 31/03/2015 15:18

I don't like scary films (never watch horror, zombies, creepy dolls), but a few scary ones I did watch mistake and haunted me since were

Nightmare On Elm Street & Resurrection (with Christopher Lambert)
I wish I could unwatch them. both awful

thatsn0tmyname · 31/03/2015 15:22

I love scary films but struggled with the Paranormal Activity series. Also, The Descent. And Ethan Hawk in Sinister

LittleMissRayofHope · 31/03/2015 15:29

The strangers.
Creepy psychos in masks.
Anyone in masks freaks me out. I can't stand seeing the frozen faces with the shiny moving eyes....
I've just made my own skin crawl.
My dsis wanted me to watch 'the purge' with her but I felt sick looking at the cover and couldn't.

MissYamabuki · 31/03/2015 15:33

I know it's not a "horror" film but for me it's Whatever happened to Baby Jane?

Bette Davies was terrifying. I felt physically exhausted and in shock after watching it!

SpringtimeForShatner · 31/03/2015 15:54

The Blair Witch Project petrified me.

Gory films don't frighten me at all, just I'd rather not look, and ghost and monster things are ruined for me as soon as I see the thing that's supposed to be frightme

SpringtimeForShatner · 31/03/2015 15:55

Frightening! This bloody phone is possessed!

bruffin · 31/03/2015 16:01

The Awakening

ByeByeButterfly · 31/03/2015 16:03

I'm yet to be properly scared by a film but several are disturbing i.e Sinister, Ringu, Orphanage.

HellKitty · 31/03/2015 17:20

The Strangers - they used to show the advert when it was first released where there's a scary knock on the door...I watched the ad one night before bed. Turned the lights off and there was a knock on MY door. Seriously nearly shat myself! It was the old guy next door who'd taken a parcel in. Thought he'd redeliver it at 11pm Confused

ChoochiWhoo · 01/04/2015 06:58

Audition. ..mike takashi...just traumatising

thejellyfox · 01/04/2015 16:53

Wolf Creek and Eden Lake are very effective horror films just because they could actually happen.

I can't remember who asked but A tale of two sisters is awesome, I discovered it by accident but am glad I did.

Cariad007 · 01/04/2015 17:01

Wolf Creek is partly based on a true story so it kind of did happen!

MrsPeterQuill · 01/04/2015 23:47

Another vote for Ringu. The Ring pales in comparison to the original.

Misslgl88 · 03/04/2015 22:22

Eden lake was an awful one for me because it was so true to real life

Blair witch wasn't scary as such with not actually seeing the witch but the creepy stuff behind it and sometime OH thinks it's funny to be standing facing corners when I come downstairs knob

Just watched the babadook tonight it was horrid think I'll struggle to sleep tonight!

The insidious films really made me jump both times

laylabelle · 26/04/2015 11:19

Sinister definitely and they're making another

Agree about descent.horrible and definitely prefer the UK ending to the American

The first two paranormals was pretty scene then went a bit silly

ThatIsNachoCheese · 26/04/2015 11:33

I've just downloaded wolf Creek 2 and exorcist 3 so that's my evening sorted!

Takes alot to scare me but the Blair witch project scared the utter shite out of me when I first saw it. And the orphanage stayed with me.
