What is the most overrated film you've ever seen? Can I suggest Her?

WTF was that about? It's taken me weeks to watch it. It was up for Oscars as well.

Her is on Sky on demand at the moment and, even though its free, I can't bring myself to watch it. The trailers were so shit I thought it was joke movie! I may have to watch it now after this thread just to see the worst bits.

A lot of the other films mentioned I quite like but I do just like films generally and usually watch and enjoy most of them (even the crap ones which just goes to show how bad Her looked!)

BUT for all you Australia haters out there, you're all wrong. It has Huge Ackman in it with his shirt off and that is enough to make any film watchable!!! Grin

SandrasBullocks · 09/01/2015 18:14

In order for a film to be overrated, it has to be "rated" first, ie: you can't say John Carter or suchlike dung because no one liked them anyway, if you know what I mean...I would say Mulholland Drive and Donnie Darko personally....and Gravity is fantastic!

EachandEveryone · 09/01/2015 18:27

I never got into Sideways.

I've just watched The Grand Budapest Hotel. Thought it was brilliant. Couldn't have sat through it at the cinema though.

Lucy is just a waste of time.

BestIsWest · 15/01/2015 17:10

I enjoyed Lucy.

BestIsWest · 15/01/2015 17:11

Agree with whoever said Tropic Thunder was awful. It truly was.

EachandEveryone · 15/01/2015 17:50

I'm about to watch a Obvious Child. The Guardian gave it rave reviews.......

Rivercam · 15/01/2015 17:59

The Englsh Patient

The Piano

Wall-E

ET (sorry, just don't get it)

WyrdByrd · 15/01/2015 18:02

I'm sure I'll be shot down in flames for this but both Prometheus & Wall-E left me cold.

Biggest WTF award has to go to Vanilla Sky though.

CarbeDiem · 15/01/2015 18:03

Dh tried to watch Keanu Reeves new film. I found it shite tbh. I normally like KR but this/these kinds of roles don't suit him anymore. We switched it off about 45 mins in.

Has anyone watched Taken 3?
Liam is my next husband so I need to watch it. DH the current one thinks it will be crap like most part 3's.

RoseTheHat · 15/01/2015 18:03

A few years ago me and DH decided we should really make an effort to get into proper films and stop watching Family Guy box sets all the time. So we decided to spend an afternoon watching No Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood back to back Shock Sooo much acting, soooo much interesting facial hair Confused

Anyway it was back to the box sets after that Grin

Beggy15 · 15/01/2015 18:07

Nocturne123 · 15/01/2015 18:27

Oh no Rose I thought no country for old men was great , I watched it in a cinema in Paris .. Alone .. It terrified me !

I agree about there will be blood , dh loves it .. Snore

susiedaisy · 15/01/2015 20:53

I love the film There will be blood Smile

RoseTheHat · 16/01/2015 07:48

ha! maybe I should try them again. I did like Lost in Translation and I am Shock beyond measure that Pulp Fiction has been mentioned on this thread Grin

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2015 18:18

There is a new movie section now. Maybe we should move this thread over there to warn people Grin

OP posts:
flipchart · 21/01/2015 18:26

The movie section has been there for ages. I gave up posting on it a couple of years ago because it didn't move much.

passthewineplz · 21/01/2015 18:36

I've watched 'her' twice, I think it's an amazing film.

The most resent film I've had to turn off was the great gatsby - goergous costumes, but very over rated

passthewineplz · 21/01/2015 18:40

Vanilla sky is one of my favourite films - love a bit of Tom cruise, but I did think WtF to that rock of ages musical he's in, it's bloody cringeworthy!

passthewineplz · 21/01/2015 18:46

Sorry I'm on one now! ?? Harry 'chuffing boring' potter, the Lord of the 'to long a film' rings and mama 'awful cringey' mia!

FixItUpChappie · 21/01/2015 18:57

Titanic and Avatar.

Well, this thread shows film glory is also in the eye of the beholder
