What's the worst film you ever manage to live through?

Currently have Sweeney Todd on.

OK so i might not manage to actually live through it which makes me subject title a bit misleading but I've succeeded in keeping it on for over 19 mins purely because I've so far been shocked ridged that a film the cast it has can be so so very awful.

Not sure awful even does it justice

The Island of Doctor Moreau. The worst film I have ever seen, still don't know why we stayed til the end.

notcitrus · 07/01/2011 20:35

The second Matrix one.
The only reason I didn't walk out was I was attempting to figure out if it was the worst film I'd ever paid to see, ie was it worse than Waterworld. Concluded Waterworld at least had Kevin Costner getting his kit off.

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 07/01/2011 20:37

Under Siege.

Shiteola.

leaningtoweroflaundry · 07/01/2011 20:38

Book of Eli......I actually ironed Shock through it. DH was all ShockShock. Think he spent more time watchi8ng me with his jaw hanging open than watching the film Grin The so called twist at the end did not make up for such dross...... and it was a DVD! Don't know why I didn't turn it off (tight git emoticon)

Piffpaffpoff · 07/01/2011 20:42

Sex and the City 2 ( yes Rookie, I am that masochist!). Was awful and wrong on so many levels. I shudder when I think of it and it's awfulness! Previous to that, I think it was Face Off with Nic Cage and John Travolta, it gave me the boak.

Christmastreedelivery · 07/01/2011 20:45

The Hours.

Oh the hours and the hours and the hours I wll never get back. Now I like a yarn, nad I love stories about women. But holy moley I have no idea what that film was meant to say.

I ate a lot of popcorn.

zam72 · 07/01/2011 20:52

Darjeeling Express - utter crap.

And the Bruno/Sasha Baron Cohen one - maybe I'm too prudish but I just couldn't watch any more of seeing the end of his willy being made to talk in close up.

OutrageousFlavourLikeFreesias · 07/01/2011 21:36

Hot Shots Part Deux, on video. We'd gone to see Pulp Fiction at the cinema, it was sold out, so we thought we'd go to the video store and rent something which was somehow similar.

And that was what we came up with.

Afterwards we all lay around on the floor and tried to regain the will to live.

(Ahem. Clearly this is a story from a very long time ago.) Grin

Now I almost walked out of Moulin Rouge in the first 10 minutes, but I stayed and I'm glad I did. It improved immensely!

Eyes Wide Shut! Oh dear Lord! To say it was awful would be high praise indeed! It was WORSE than awful... it was a steaming pile of cack's cack!

ladysybil · 08/01/2011 01:13

casablanca

ShowOfHands · 08/01/2011 01:14

The Hours is brilliant.

Hated Moulin Rouge (didn't get through it tbh), Eternal Sunshine, Mars Attacks, Team America and it wasn't awful but Bridges Of Madison County I rented recently and it left me thoroughly unmoved having expected great things.

Maelstrom · 08/01/2011 01:18

Breaking the Waves.

More than a decade since, but I'm still traumatised by it.

I love good alternative cinema, but FGS, this left me avoiding Cannes nominees for a good few years.

WhamBam · 08/01/2011 01:18

Troy, although I've never seen Alexander. The blond tresses of Colin Farrell Hmm was enough to put me off even thinking about it

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 08/01/2011 08:09

Tremors is an acknowledged B-movie classic!

Have just remembered something even worse than Brideshead Revisited...Ernest Saves Christmas.

MrsColumbo · 08/01/2011 08:25

Agree with whoever said Little Nicky - both DH and me agreed it was shite, but he thinks like Magnus Magnusson when it comes to films, so he watched it till the bitter end. But I might have hated Naked even more when the Mike Leigh season was on Film 4 - wanted to punch the moustache right off David Thewlis's character! Angry

littlemissindecisive · 08/01/2011 08:32

Perhaps i was way too young to 'appreciate' Tremors Smile

Crystylline · 08/01/2011 08:41

Twister - only redeeming feature was the comedy flying cows

and Titanic - got to the point where I was screaming at the telly "just hurry up and die!"

4andnotout · 08/01/2011 08:48

Layercake, I watched the whole film whilst waiting for the actual storyline to start. Utter dross.

gorionine · 08/01/2011 08:50

One Hour Photo

ledkr · 08/01/2011 09:06

we hve started to avoid those "oscar winning" films, revolutionary rd,the reader etc. They seem to have no actual point to them and end without a point, maybe its just my uncultured self.

Antidote · 08/01/2011 10:10

The life aquatic.

Utter shite. Turned it off after 30 mins and now some Bugger gave the eve to Dh for Christmas. He claims not to have seen it so I am having a sneaking suspicion I may have to watch it again.

PureBloodMuggle · 08/01/2011 11:11

Eyes Wide Shut. Oh dear god I'd actually managed to block out the memory of having to sit through that.

I know what you mean about "Oscar winning" I usually find then a load of dross - often find the same with high brow award winning books.

It's possibly I'm an uncouth poorly education pleb though

The only film I have ever walked out of is naked gun 33 and 1/3.

There are loads of things I like on the list above including James blunt , the hours, ai,

LetThereBeRock · 08/01/2011 12:47

I loved Sweeney Todd, though I'm still not convinced that Johnny Depp was right for the role of Sweeney.

8 Mile
Pitch Black
Spiceworld
And Little Nicky are my nominations.

LetThereBeRock · 08/01/2011 12:47

And Sideways.
