Welcome to The Bluestocking, the best (perhaps only) online women's pub. Nothing in the food or drink can harm you, everything is served by a very enthusiastic crew of gerbils, who enjoy doing this, and any curious menfolk are welcome at the Staunch Ally down the road.

Are those gerbils eating Dreamies?!!

Sunflower seed flavour!

You're very generous with the dreamies @FuzzyPuffling thank you 😀

It would last forever and not being 'fashionable" in the S& B sense, it would never date. It would soften with age and be beautiful in hot weather. Or with thermals underneath.

Convincing.... very convincing. <sigh> ok, I'll think about it some more 😬

Just as soon as we’re all back from the cathedrals!

Looking forward to it!

Meanwhile, in the pub next door, " The Old Gerbil Inn", a certain puffin has managed to tempt a cat out of the catnip.

Thanks Stars!

Did somebody say Dreamies?

I probably should know, apologies, but what are they failing to apply for?

Places on the courses I look after. So, you know, only the thing that could unlock steady paid employment and a career for them. No big deal, they can just be a TikTok influencer instead. Oh, for the supreme self confidence of a 16 year old...

Well they're no good to me. Although the salmon flavour ones have a certain je ne sais quoi.

It's a Mission (Possible)! 😁I love the Camera Directive, and appreciate someone else who knows about proper cameras!

The Victorian outfits are not bad, either.
From the Monty Don thread linked in the last Bluey, I have found a dress that I am contemplating, but unsure if it's going to look too old-fashioned (but looks very cool and comfortable for summer, perhaps next summer):

Whatcha think? Too flowy? Too much like I'm an extra in Sense and Sensibility? Or too expensive?

I can't decide if I like it or not, but all of @FuzzyPuffling's points are spot on. If it's calling to you, and you can afford it, go for it because it will make you happy every time you wear it.

Will they have a sale next month?

Do they do anything in roadkill flavour? Asking for a friend...

I really like it but I don't think it looks like a dress of £260.

I'm not sure they do sales, but I guess I could wait and see...

Yes, see, this is what I was thinking. I suppose it were £120 or even £150, I might have gone for it already. I just know how long it takes to make something handmade, out of nice fabric, if it's a quilt or throw. But I have no idea how long it takes to make a dress.

I was given this amazing advice about sales years ago:

If you could afford it at full price, would you buy it? If not, it's not really a bargain. If yes, knock yourself out.

A dress would probably take me 2-3 days, but it would depend on how complicated it is, if I had to pattern match the fabric and if I had made it before.
I am not a fast dressmaker.

This is Kitty, @FuzzyPuffling - the inspiration behind the second half of my
username 😻. She was my 9th foster & the one I couldn’t let go, so I adopted her coming up to 2 years ago.

My current favourite dress company is Cinnamon Junction. I have 3 of their dresses and float around like an old hippy, comfy and happy. Cotton, good quality, ethical...and less than £45 in the sale!
S&B would be ashamed of me.

That's quite a royal- purple, regal platform she has there, perfect for looking down on all us plebs.

I heartily approve!

I picked that up for £10 in a local charity shop & then saw identical ones down the road for £80 so I was very happy.

I have remembered that I'm a little bit allergic to wool and fur (despite a steady stream of fluffy pets throughout my life. Excellent rabbits. My eyes close up entirely around rabbit fur)

I tried to make a crocheted project for MissPasta from an online video (no written pattern) using a mix of wool and alpaca yarn. I finished it in 3 days.

I realised I'd misunderstood/guessed wrongly about something at the start once I'd finished because it just wasn't right, so today I frogged the whole thing back into balls of wool.

I've spent most of the afternoon and evening with blurry eyes because of the amount of fluff undoing crochet created.

I aspire to be creative and marvellous but a lot of the time I'm kind of a disaster.

At least I have friends in the Welsh Borders to call on while assisting Gosie - including MissPasta's godmother and namesake.

Sympathies Pasta, I'm quite a lot allergic to wool and fur. And feathers, somewhat ironically. I took a Piriton an hour ago to help with the incessant bloody itching from about two dozen bites, and I can feel myself starting to go woozy so I'll be in bed soon.

I have antihistamines in several rooms/handbags/coat pockets for the same reason, Magpie. My sympathies
