I'm one! Married 27 years and have always been Ms.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 30/05/2024 22:32

And me!

Theydontknowaboutus · 30/05/2024 22:33

Another one here!

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:35

Do you feel you are judged for it? Assumed you are a Mrs? I'm a primary teacher working with around 50 other women. All of the married ones are Mrs. The kids struggle with it too.

Me too, 28 years.

adviceatthislatestage · 30/05/2024 22:40

Have been a Ms since the mid 80s, and remained so after getting married in 2017.

Didn't change my name either, did you OP?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 30/05/2024 22:41

Me too.

His family address cards to Mrs His name.

Off you fuck.

YellowHairband · 30/05/2024 22:42

I'm a Ms, and I was before I got married.

I don't feel judged because I don't think titles are really used that often (apart from certain circumstances like being a teacher of course) so it doesn't come up. If I'm filling in a form online I'll select Ms, but I can't remember the last time I said it out loud, or had someone call me by a title.

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:44

@adviceatthislatestage Both husband and I added on to be db"d 😀

Me too. Didn't take his name either.

The odd time we get a card addressed to Mr & Mrs Hisname I get the rage.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 30/05/2024 22:41

Me too.

His family address cards to Mrs His name.

Off you fuck.

I am Dr maidenname

his family all address cards, invites etc to Mrs hisname.

my family, including my 90 year old uncle, all
manage to get it right. So do schools and Gp’s.

it’s just rude. And smacks of minimising my personal achievements and individuality because the most important thing I have done in my whole life is GET MARRIED!

WhyamInotvomiting · 30/05/2024 22:45

I started using Ms when I was about 15 iirc. Been married a decade now and always stayed a Ms. However some places just have me down as Mrs like the GP and the Hospital even though I definitely never register anywhere as Mrs. It does irritate me but not enough to raise it and get it changed in those places.

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:45

@YellowHairband Indeed. I'm a primary teacher. Kids think married = Mrs.

Mid 30s. Never married.
Have been a Ms for a good few years now.

3peassuit · 30/05/2024 22:47

I’ve been a married Ms for over 40 years. Kept my name too.

WeeGreenJumper · 30/05/2024 22:49

Always rejected Mrs and stuck with Ms. I married my husband because I love him but fuck sharing my married status with everyone as a punishment for that 😁

tribpot · 30/05/2024 22:49

Another married Ms here.

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:49

Thanks all. I definitely feel very much like the "odd one out" at school, despite being confident in my decision.

Neolara · 30/05/2024 22:50

Me. Married for 20 years and still using my maiden name.

BigBurrata · 30/05/2024 22:50

I’m married and kept my name and still use Ms.

Not really bothered if anyone assumes I’m Mrs DHname.

AlisonDonut · 30/05/2024 22:51

Now I'm in France I'm Madame.

Every female over about 21 is Madame.

I loves it.

I might keep it forever if I ever move back to the UK.

Jegersur · 30/05/2024 22:51

I’m one. All women I know go by Ms, married or not. Except my elderly mum and her friends.

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 30/05/2024 22:51

I am a Ms and kept my name - disappointingly I'm the only one of my friends that has. In fact I don't think I know another married Ms in real life.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/05/2024 22:51

I've been Ms MyName since my teens, as it happens inspired by a teacher at my secondary school. I've been married for almost 30 years but have never used Mrs HisName. I don't think I have been judged for it. The only people who mistakenly called me Mrs HisName were the teachers at DCs' school.

Kirstyshine · 30/05/2024 22:52

I’m a married Ms/Miss Myname, 20 years in.
