What an odious, misogynist he truly is.

GB News suspends Laurence Fox over comments about journalist Ava Evans - BBC News

He said, of female journalist Ava Evans: "Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman - ever, ever. That little woman has been fed, spoon-fed oppression day after day after day. And she's sat there and I'm going like, 'If I met you in a bar and that was like sentence three, [the] chances of me just walking away are just huge." He then added: "Who'd want to shag that?"

That Little Woman??? Why is he reducing her value to whether or not he would have sex with her - firstly what the fuck has that got to do with her worthiness as a human being or indeed her job as a journalist. Secondly, why is he arrogantly assuming that she WANT to shag him anyway, I've no doubt she wouldn't touch that loathsome prick with a shitty stick.

He also goes on to say ""We need powerful strong, amazing women who make great points for themselves." Sorry, what?? A woman made a point you didn't agree with and the first thing you did was mock, degrade and dehumanise her. Stop back-peddling, it's too late - we see you, you sexist prick.

GB News presenter Laurence Fox. He is seen looking into the camera.

I think it's due to some kind of loyalty, and they know the ratings for it would be good. It also wouldn't surprise me if Laurance's talk isn't at all unusual, is openly tolerated, and the pair would feel a bit bad for excluding him as a guest on that basis.

I just saw a 10 min clip of the interview. I don't know what was in the rest of the show but they did push back on Fox -basically saying this is your own fault, of course you were going to be suspended/sacked for being disrespectful.

It was couched a bit in the idea that he broke GB guidelines and maybe the issue is actually Ofcom expecting GBN to have guidelines but they weren't totally giving Fox a pass for saying what he did.

I think FF & KK often have a struggle with their channel trying to straddle the line between some sort of broadcasting integrity and audience capture. They'll definitely get pushback in the comments for not just saying Fox did nothing wrong.

'I plan to listen later, is it worth it?'

I was torn between wanting to hear how the interview went, and feeling gross for wasting my time with LF. I couldnt cope with any more than ten mins, you may have more lasting power!

Oh, another LF gem was that Ofcom are 'a bunch of communists who just want to shut people down'. He's SUCH a sad case and SUCH a wanker

Helleofabore · 30/09/2023 13:15

Is it true that Willoughby is going to join GBNews to replace Dan Wooten?

Surely that Twitter post I saw was Willoughby trolling?

Why is he reducing her value to whether or not he would have sex with her

Oh come on OP, you know why.

Because, unfortunately, that is what a lot these types do when women are out of earshot. They discuss how fuckable they think they are because that is the main prism they see women through - a sexual lens. It's all that goes round in their heads. Everything else is secondary. Some are polite enough to keep this sort of stuff inside their heads most of the time, but if they feel relaxed and are in similar company, it comes out.

He's just done it on air, making it brazen and out in the open.

Edited

You are right . My hb has told me that men are disgusting when women are not present . They do discuss women in a sexual way .

The drama from this gets better and better.

If you haven't seen this, i swear I haven't made it up.

Sky News hosted a debate on the 'Laurence Fox' issue.
Sky invited 2 guests, one man, one women to debate.
The woman is journalist Moya Lothian-McLean and the man is Connor Tomlinson (who happens to be from GBN)

They argue back and forth about misogyny, patriarchal society and inequality of pay.

Connor asks some bullshit question, which Moya responds that's she's too tired to keep answering stupid questions.
Connor responds, quite sarcastically, "I'm so sorry you're exhausted to be paid to go on air"

At this point the penny drops for Moya and says "I'm not being paid, I'm not getting a penny for this. Hang on, are you getting paid for this?"

So it turns out, on a debate about structural inequality, the male guest was paid £200 and the female guest got nothing.

What the fuck is going on?!?

I saw this! It was too perfect. And Moria argued her points brilliantly!

I swear I'm not.😁

I'm laughing because it does sound like a joke, but no, it actually happened.

Sky has apologised. Offered Moya £75, then it came out Connor got £200, so they paid her £200.
She's given it to a charity.

EarthSight · 30/09/2023 13:52

@minou123

Oh my God. If that's true, the Sky team were UTTERLY stupid to do that on a debate on this in particular.

She ran rings around him.

EarthSight · 30/09/2023 13:53

@minou123 For fucks sake, that was a silly move on her part. She gave it to charity hoping she would come out at the better person, but she should have set a good an example to lots of women by going 'Yes I'm keeping it, and there's no shame in that'.

It's the same thing that prevents women from being afraid to ask for a payrise, lest they be seen as 'ambitious' or money grabbing.

LizBennet · 30/09/2023 13:56

Ugh. If the choice was between shagging him or listening to him sing I think I’d shoot myself instead 😖

I can’t believe that about Moya not being paid 😤

minou123 · 30/09/2023 13:59

@EarthSight

I swear it's true. 😁there's loads of news articles, but here's is one https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/28/female-journalist-discussing-laurence-fox-earns-no-fee-sky-news-gb-news-ava-evans-19569989/

I completely understand your point , but she's given the money to a charity called Beyond Equality.
It's a charity that educates men on inequality and patriarchy.
I kniw she shouldnt have to, but I think that's sweet revenge against a man who denied we live in a patriarchal society.

Moment female journalist learns she's not getting paid while male guest is

They had been talking about women in the media following Laurence Fox's vile rant.

Excellent charity of choice 👏

minou123 · 30/09/2023 14:01

I should have said - Connor is a all over twitter/X complaining that no-one should know how much he got paid 🙄

Sweet Jesus. It's bloody endless. You couldn't write this stuff. I agree she should have kept her fee

Just shows you what whiny, entitled, MRAs they employ on GB News. He had a chance to back Moya, instead he's whingeing about himself.

Fucker!

I'm a local politician and ironically the day before this happened onscreen I protested on a political WhatsApp group when my chairman placed a photo of Dianne Abbott up, with a similar tagline - who'd want to sleep with that. I was immediately offended and protested it was sexist and reductionist. Not one person supported me with this, including the women on the chat. Two people messaged me privately - both gay. I am flabbergasted so few people recognise reductionist sexism for what it is, or are willing to call it out. My son - schooled by me in feminism - said it was bad taste and offensive, but not sexist. I think it is a massive problem that people do not recognise sexism for what it is 0 and so it persists. We must call it out and explain. Men, but also women!

ssd · 05/10/2023 08:08

There's always been guys like him about who dont see themselves as they actually are. Its like they got a big shot of no self awareness at birth.
Christ knows who would want to sleep with him and why someone with his looks has the balls to pass judgment on other.

@JingsMahBucket agreed. No doubt someone will be along soon to say that you don't have to agree with everything someone says for them to be an ally. Oh wait, someone already did.

Ah, is this the 'alignment' argument making another tedious reappearance?

It's easy to see how weak and lacking in nuance the constant flag-waving, shouting of slogans and regurgitating soundbites is making what passes for some people's 'arguments' these days. Next, we'll be seeing yet another protestation that anyone they don't happen to like is a 'Nazi'.

Cobblers. A stopped clock is right twice a day, and the fact that the despicable Piers Morgans, Dan Woottons, Jeremy Clarksons, Katie Hopkinses and Laurence Foxes of this world happen to make the occasional point that chimes with my own views, does not make me in any way 'aligned' or in 'allyship' with them. Nor do I have any affinity with the 'alt right', or any other organization or ideology hellbent on stripping women of their bodily autonomy and most basic of human rights.

We seriously need a reengagement of critical thinking in this day and age, but with even universities in the state they are right now I suspect there's currently little hope of that.

Boring, tedious, repetitous - and totally predicable.
