Insomnia friends - I will sleep well tonight because I have told my unconscious I will

And here it is!

Actually DH is coming around to the idea of ADs as he sees that I need a bit of a break from this stress I am putting myself under. But I've been skepitcal about them too for ages and ages (partly because I felt so crap taking fluoxitine). I've learnt a lot more about them though and recently found out my niece has taken and is back on the same sort you and CountryLover take as she says she has had big anxiety and insomnia issues. She also said, interestingly, she's never had any problems coming off them (one of my worries).

Was recommended a book 'The mindful Way Through Depression' I think it was, round our way they are offering courses on the NHS.

arcadia96 · 11/06/2010 21:14

ooh I'm excited now love facebook! May try and find some of you!
Haven't been posting much today as logged out by mistake and couldn't get back in. DD a nightmare today - teething - felt like having a newborn again so clingy (without the long snoozes!). Loving a glass of rose and a nandos this evening.
Interested in your appointment Becky - this woman sounds a bit hippyish; is it a shropshire thing?!

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/06/2010 21:28

She was a bit hippyish - must be a Shropshire thing!

I love that we are all facebook friends

I'm watching the last episode of Lost with DH. He thinks I am doing a bit of work on my laptop. I am, errr, and on here too!

Morning! I slept really well last night, the best for about 2 weeks and I think it is because of the reassurance I got from Mrs Hippy yesterday about my sleep worries. I felt much more relaxed than normal last night when I went to bed. Yeah! I'm off to Birmingham today to meet two friends from my University days, one of which I haven't seen for two years. Very excited and nervous.

glad you slept well becky - i also have a book on mindfullness which you're welcome to borrow. it's called buddhism for mothers and i read it cover to cover one night when i couldn't sleep! i can't say he helped me to sleep that night but i do still use one of the techniques which is to accept each emotion eg anxiety and just say it over and over it your head and then let it pass. it's almost a way of just accepting how you feel and not try and fight it.

oooh i want to be facebook friends with you all too! perhaps you can see if you can all find me as i am useless finding my way round facebook. my initials are VC and my picture is one of billie piper because i got mistaken for her last week. (the second time in my life this has happened - i look nothing like her and i'm about ten years older than her so i take it as a compliment!) is that enough info for you to be able to find me though?

countrylover · 12/06/2010 09:33

how exciting - i found you becky and sent you a friend request..

got to go DS2 is screaming and DS1 is hitting him over the head with a sword he made out of cardboard this morning...nice.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 09:36

CL is your first initial a G or a V? I've had two this morning (not usually this popular)!!

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 09:38

Ahh just re-read your post. You are the V person! I'll accept then I saw that picture and thought: 'Who is that? She looks like Billie Piper, must be a fake friend request!' So funny. So you're not secretly Billie Piper then?

I'm off to Brum now. I will have a whole hour on the train to read my book and drink a cup of coffee - how lovely is that? And then girly shopping with my two friends and lunch and no children to worry about all day (except I will be thinking about them all day of course).

countrylover · 12/06/2010 10:05

have fun becky - you deserve it! i have changed my profile pic back to normal again. as you can see, i look nothing like bille piper in RL.

GetDownYouWillFall · 12/06/2010 10:22

Oooo, oooo be friends with me too countrylover I am BD and am friends with becky on FB.

Glad you had a great night's sleep becky and hope you have a lovely time today - lunch with no DC - bliss!

DH is working today and tomorrow so feeling a bit and lonely.

GetDownYouWillFall · 12/06/2010 10:22

DD said she had a present for me!

She took me to "see" it. It was a wee in the toilet.

Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

willsurvivethis · 12/06/2010 12:32

Becky mindfulness materials on their way - hopefully there by Tuesday - hope they help

Countrylover think I've seen you on fb, if you get request from IDH it's me.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 18:30

GetDown that's a very sweet present from your DD!

I'm back!! I had a lovely day with my two friends - just like old times

WillSurvive thank you so much.

GetDownYouWillFall · 12/06/2010 19:24

Oh so glad to hear you had a lovely day

Must have been so nice to forget about everything and just catch up with your friends.

I've had a tough day and am feeling a bit low TBH. I really struggle when DH has to work Somehow I cope worse on a saturday than a weekday, DD has run rings around me today.

I think I deserve a glass of wine tonight

It's so nice to get to know some of you a bit more on FB too!

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 19:37

Ooooh GetDown I know exactly how you feel. Do you remember that Saturday two weeks ago when my DH went away for the weekend and one before that he was working? I find weekends very tough when DH is away. I don't know why it should be different but it is. I always reward myself with a glass of wine on those days. Is your DH home yet? Does he get to take time off in the week if he works at weekends?

DS1 and DS2 are watching the football. My DH is sooo not into football. He's upstairs bathing DS3.

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 12/06/2010 19:42

Yes thankfully DH is home now (phew) but has to work the next two weekends as well and no days off during the week either. Thursday night he didn't come home till 9:15pm and I hadn't eaten and we were both really hungry and frazzled!

He has just put DD down and is now watching the football - not really into it, but just watches the england matches.

The thought of having to start cooking again fills me with malaise.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 19:47

Take away? We're having a Chinese take away. I'm too tired to cook!

Your DH sounds like he works silly hours like mine When I told the CMHT lady about DH's work and how I worry about him she frowned and said 'that's really not good'. I told him and he laughed. He just seems able to do it.

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 12/06/2010 19:50

We had Chinese last night can't really get away with it again

Yes, DH's work is silly hours but only this time of year. He works in a power station and the summer months are always really busy as that's when they do all the maintenance work.

In the winter months he's normally home by 5pm which is lovely. So I really can't complain. But this time of year is always such a struggle. I realise how much I rely on him

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2010 20:13

I have total admiration for anyone who brings up children by themselves. I couldn't do it.

Better go, DS1 and DS2 are going to bed at half-time! Then we can eat our Chinese.

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/06/2010 09:47

GetDown I hope you are and your DD are having a good day today (and she's not running you ragged). We're off to my sister's house later, maybe with DH, maybe without. My sister and her husband are somewhere hot for a week and my mum is house / child sitting for the week so she needs some company today. I need to do the ironing first and hoovering. Bahhh I hate housework.

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 13/06/2010 09:57

thanks becky DH says he think he'll be back in the afternoon sometime today, so at least not a whole day on my own

Are you taking all the boys to your sister's house? Hope you have a nice time with your mum.

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/06/2010 10:00

If DH stays behind, I've told him he has to have DS3 with him!

Hope your DH comes home soon
