Both absolute legends.
AIBU to wish I followed the same path?
At 45 I'm past it.

@Dollymylove I see going at your prime as pretty cool 😎

Jerry Lee Lewis was still performing in his 80s and he "took more drugs and drank more booze than any other man"

He also was a dreadful human being.

So there is still hope op

I think singing talent is overrated and embarrassing. Singers want to be praised. I’ve never met a talented singer who wouldn’t burst into song apropos of nothing and wait for the astonished praise.

He was desperately worried about the devil and hell.

One might say he had need to be.

WonderingWanda · 06/03/2026 19:14

You aren't really making a lot of sense op. Their early deaths didn't make them braver or more talented and they didn't really chose an early death. They were both tortured souls who were battling incredibly poor mental health which reailted in their early deaths which were a huge waste of potential.

You sound quite depressed to be envious of that and speaking so negatively of yourself. I think you should seek some help op.

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 06/03/2026 19:14

@NotAnotherScarf Well I've never taken drugs. Should I start? 😀

@WonderingWanda They went in their prime I guess. And yes, for them, such huge waste of potential and talent.

@TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot Nothing. I'm a skint nobody.

Get voice coaching, then find a tribute band to join.

Tribute bands seem to be really popular rn.

This is a bizarre outlook.

Michael Hutchence😢
That man was a God

@Muffsies I'm not that good!

What an odd ambition. If you want to be a singer, then go for it, you are never too old. But don't romanticise people who died young, they didn't choose to leave this world with so many years still ahead of them, they died due to atrocious mental health issues and addictions.

XenoBitch · 06/03/2026 19:19

There are loads of very talented singers and musicians about that will never be rich and famous because a lot of it is a case of being discovered in the right place at the right time.
Both women had their demons and struggled with the pressures of fame, and that ultimately killed both.

Randomchat · 06/03/2026 19:21

Are you considering ending your life op? Are you okay? Your posts make me anxious for you

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/03/2026 19:21

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 06/03/2026 19:00

@Muffsies I see them as brave. They were clever women - they knew what they were doing. I guess what I find sad is that they both were so valuable and had so much talent which ended all too soon. Most people don't have that.

They were controlled by their illnesses.

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 06/03/2026 19:22

@Mumtobabyhavoc Possibly. I still admire them.

OP posts:
TheIceBear · 06/03/2026 19:23

Why do you admire them specifically for dying young in horrific circumstances. I feel nothing but pity

Muffsies · 06/03/2026 19:24

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 06/03/2026 19:18

@Muffsies I'm not that good!

Ok, do what i do then: get drunk, play music really loud, put on a slinky dress & sing your heart out.

This whole thread is bizarre. And also slightly concerning.

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 06/03/2026 19:25

@TheIceBear They choose not to face the inevitable years of decline. Well, I don't know if choose is the right word, but they didn't have to. When I remember them I think of them as young and wonderful ❤️

Amy was great, may she rest

@mumofoneAloneandwell Indeed she was. Breaks my heart nobody helped her on that last appearance when she was clearly so sick.
